Honestly I dont get the hype, Maxwell and Lane were both better and he's suspended 4 games
The further it gets Kyle Arrington away from playing the better. Plus he's a good #2 imo

The only place it'd work in NE where they can cycle safety help onto him.
People see Seattles success and think Browner is a great option. In reality, he's a 30 year old CB with coverage issue who's suspended 4 games

BJ Raji returning to Green Bay on a cheap $4m one year contract.
Reasonably happy about that. He has dropped off a bit, but at that price for a single year seems fair

DRC visiting the Jets. That would be a good signing. Hopefully less than the $10m per year he wants.

Steve Smith to the Ravens in a 3 year deal, another of Edelman's potential landing spots gone
Verner only got a million a year more than what Finnegan is getting. That's mental

Fair to say that today has been the calm after the storm. Unless you count Steve Smith joining Baltimore as significant news... which it isn't really.

Browner got a 3 yr, 17m deal. Be interested to see how that's structured.

Yeah I'd agree, but see how its structured first.
Like our secondary now, if only we had the Adrian Wilson of three years ago

The defense is taking shape, McCourty, Revis and a Dennard/Browner combo, Mayo, Hightower and Collins at LB and Jones providing the pass rush.Olly wrote:twelve283 wrote:Without knowing the exact details of the deal it looks like we overpaid.Olly wrote:Browner got a 3 yr, 17m deal. Be interested to see what they do when/if Wilfork goes. I'd imagine they draft someone now Kelly is staying, mid round guy. Still need a depth DE and LB but these can be addressed further down the line.
Probably should get Brady someone to throw to at some point too

As a 3-4 OLB, I'm sure.
Elite players like Peppers can fit into any system. Just because he's been playing 4-3 DE for years doesn't mean he can't play as a LB.

I'd agree, but is Peppers really elite anymore? He's what 33/34 now, on the downside of his career

Chances are he'll be a situational pass rusher.
A few years ago I'd agree with NYJ, but ultimately Olly is right, the tanks almost empty now.
Wonder what Allen has to do to get a job. Comfortably outplayed Peppers and Ware a year ago

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
He had more sacks, Ware was still the far better all-round player. Ware is the only one of the three I would have wanted for the Pats, the other two are situational at best and wouldn't justify their cost.GSC wrote:Chances are he'll be a situational pass rusher.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
If it's a deal that can be easily turned into a one-year deal by cutting him without much cost next year then I'm happy. There's cap room this season to do it, so as long as it doesn't hamper resigning Nelson and Cobb I'm alright with it. Could be a master-stroke if he plays like he did a couple of years ago.

Ware wasn't particularly good last year. Hes really struggling with injuries at this stage of his career. I said a while ago, he'd be a cap casualty for most good FOs

He's also not a 4-3 DE. I'm sure the Broncos will use him properly.

Not now, but it still stands that he can play OLB with minimal change in performance.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Allen has never been as good an all-round player as Ware and, as far as I can tell, that hasn't changed. They have both been excellent at generating pressure over the years but Ware offers more in other areas IMO. I think the fact that Ware was snapped up quickly but Allen is still a FA says it all TBH.

Ben Tate at the Browns... seems like a sensible move to take a number one slot... will be nice to see how he copes with it... could be the next Michael Turner

Sounds like we might be going the same way as last offseason, collect a few WR's and then let them all battle it out in camp. Only one probably "guaranteed" a roster spot is Edelman. Rest are up for grabs in my opinion.

Seems like a lot of money for LaFell if you don't know he's making the roster.

LaFell hasn't been given a three year deal to not make the roster.
I'd imagine Edelman, Amendola, LaFell, Dobson, Boyce are all locks as it stands
