You've got Lamarr Houston, Bull.
He's a good DE. Not a difference maker but a decent player against the pass and the run. Has the size to play a 4-3 or 3-4. I'd probably have kept him if we switched to a 3-4 this year.

Eric Decker has signed with the Jets BTW. What's NYJ's thoughts on that? Can he be a number 1? Suppose it's a little like when Garcon joined the Redskins and he's done OK.
Skins apparently are interested in Sproles. Would be a nice change of pace guy with Morris

So I see Carolina are well behind the times, for some reason paying 3 RB's boatloads of cash and have literally no WR's as they're bizarrely ditching the heart of the team in Steve Smith.
They're gonna return to 5-11 next year it seems

I dunno, running plus a great defense can still work.
Seattle weren't outstanding at WR either. Power running still has a place.

Yeah but Seattle had some playmaking WR's in Baldwin, Kearse and Tate. Carolina has Marvin McNutt at this moment.
And Stewart is always injured, DeAngelo Williams is fairly Meh.
They're going back to the bottom of the NFC South sharpish

I'm not so sure. It's a competitive division so it is possible, and I suppose it depends what WRs they pick up. With that defense they should be competitive in most games if they grind the clock.
But don't you EVER doubt Marvin McNutt.

Nobody wants to go there, its a sad situation. Or funny
Browner has a visit with Washington lined up too, hope we sign him.
Seems the Browns are gonna overpay for Edelman so we need even more WR's now

To be fair I think they've spent shrewdly this year. Collins is good, Verner a steal at that price, and some other nice pickups

Collins has very limited experience but his numbers last year were outstanding in his 12 starts. Best pass blocking grade on PFF in the entire NFL. Still a big vocontract though.

Albert Breer@AlbertBreer·8m
Breakdown of Revis' deal: He gets $10 million to sign, $1.5 million base salary, $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses up to 15 games for '14.
Albert Breer@AlbertBreer·now
In 2015, he has a $12 million roster bonus due of 4/1/15, payable if his option is exercised by end of '14 league year. $7.5M base for '15.
Albert Breer@AlbertBreer·now
Because there's the option on Revis' deal, I believe that splits his cap hit, and makes his cap hit $6.5 million for 2014.
Albert Breer@AlbertBreer·now
Revis' '15 club option: $20 million. A $12M roster bonus (due 4/1/15), $7.5M base, $500K in per-game bonuses, up to 15 games ($333K/game).
Albert Breer@AlbertBreer·now
So the Patriots didn't give on the franchise-tag provision, which is a precedent thing with them. But logistically, they can't tag him.

Good on them. Wouldn't have made any sense for us to give up a draft pick for a 30 year old RB who got injured last season. Players don't get more durable as they get older, especially RBs. I'd rather we just keep developing Roy Helu as our 3rd down back.
Mind you, the Redskins of old would have made a deal for Sproles.

Cannon can play guard pretty well, but I think we'll let Wendell go (awful player), move Connolly to centre and Cannon to guard then draft a late round guy.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
So with the signing of Revis and the courting of Browner, is this an admission from the Patriots that Bill doesn't have a clue how to identify a good CB in the draft? They've drafted loads in the first 3 rounds over the last few years.... what's happened to them? Have we found The Hoodie's weakness??

Woah you mean Ras-I-Dowling was a bust?!!?!!
Dennard and Ryan look like they could be nice #2 corners, but yes Mr Belichick hasn't been so great there.
I don't think we'll get Browner, can see someone else chucking more money at him.
Good to see the Skins got Porter. Only ranked 106 of 110 CB's by PFF last year eh?

Next up.... Anthony Spencer anyone? And anyway, Oakland wanted Hatcher too..... yeah, ok.
Yeah, not mad about the signing. He was good last year like NYJ says but on the otherhand, he's 32 and last year was easily his best. Still, he has better recent form than DeMarcus Ware and Elway is being hailed a genius for signing him for more money than we're giving Hatcher. I hope we've not guaranteed him too much. On the face of it 27.5m over 4 years frightens me but I wanna see how much is guaranteed before I judge. We certainly needed help up front.

Tuck and Woodley suggest we aren't seeking a pass rusher with our #5 pick.
Even if they are both a little down from their peaks they are better than what we had. Because something is by default better than nothing.

Browner is going ahead with his visit with Washington today apparently. Am surprised that he'd be allowed out of Boston without signing.
Still, we'll see. He'd certainly be a big upgrade for us but I'll be very surprised if we get him. Surely New England would have more appeal for him and I'm not sure we could afford him. Would like to see it happen though.

I think we can all see this is trying to get more money out of us, seeming as Browner himself has told his personal friends he's signing with NE
