Toulon v Leinster - HC QF
First topic message reminder :
The winners of the last 3 HC's face off on Sunday in the QF on French soil.
Toulon have a few injuries but have squad jammed with internationals so they won't be weakened much.
Just off the back of a cracking win over Toulouse where little Freddie ran the show scoring a try, 2 conversions and 6 penalties to bag a handsome 27 points.
Leinster's win over Munster was, a more sedate affair, scoring only 1 try, and resting their top carrying threat Cian Healy.
Leinster haven't exactly been firing on all cylinders lately (despite winning their last 10 games in a row) but the Northampton game this year will give them the confidence that they can pull out a result.
Should be a cracker.

No worries as long as you back Munster too please?
Never hear the end of it if they get to the semis and Leinster don't. Dublin will be full of boggers too.

Yup, you'll be pleased to know I'm thinking Munster win in a tight game. Would have maybe felt differently if Toulouse had selected a different 10.......

Didn't you hear? I just talk bollix, read Gerry Thornley, and make up stuff as if I know Ian Madigan.

Good man...what about a bit of support for your favourite team now...are you going to deny Munster as well. Sure all your neighbours, family and friends will be supporting them tomorrow rather than the D4 heads...

Re: Toulon v Leinster - HC QF
Aul MOC must have been readin ma schit from dudder night...
“This will be a squad effort and this squad has experience of big games and of grinding out big results when the odds are against them. To quote a military term we are a leaderful group. Our squad is full of guys who understand the psychology of cup rugby and like our opponents have been to the summit of this amazing competition and want to revisit it. Our leaders have guided us to three away wins in the group stages and mentally we are a very resilient team ready for the challenge that awaits us on Sunday.”
He wins this, it leaves the JS reign behind for good. It becomes his team then. Huge one for him.
Believe.

Its the Irish backline minus Trimble and Sexton(Leinster soul). Its the Irish front-row for the RWC. Its the Irish 2nd-string Irish front-row for the RWC. I wont go on abaht the backrow. It would seem a smidge biased. Just so glad Jenno is there to phhok them up at the breakdown. 4 x HC Finals. 3 x Heino-winning Captain, and My Captain, Leo on the bench. Enough energy, skill, nous and the will, to wear these beasts down.
Bring it focking on.

I think he'll show he may not be right for Leinster. The 10 selection is bizarre. And the rugby we're playing reminds me of Leicester Tigers sometimes. I think Toulon by 5.

Well done Munster btw. Clinical HC knockout rugby. Without taking away from it, Toulouse are not half the team they once were. Sad to see. Guy needs to rebuild or move on.

Good man Feckless, you just blessed us. You have doubted it a few times now... And... here we are. We are a better unit. As for Gopperth. I agree with the choice for this game. It will only serve to make Madigan even hungrier when he does come on. It wont be pretty, but I dont care, as long as we meet & beat Munster at Lansdowne.Feckless Rogue wrote:Gibson wrote:He wins this, it leaves the JS reign behind for good. It becomes his team then. Re: Toulon v Leinster - HC QF
I don't think it's hopeless. Just trying to be realistic. Beating Toulon in their home ground is a huge ask for even the best teams. The top French teams are the most formidable home sides you can face. They very rarely lose with home advantage. Their own fans demand victory and they almost always deliver it.
But the top Irish sides are probably the most formidable visitors for a home team to face. I think we'll give them a scare like Munster gave Clermont last year. And with a bit of luck my prediction might be wrong.

Re-watching the Clermont v Leinster SF now.

Fock I hope we win this one again. The last 5 mins near kills me every time. It stretched belief.
Couldn't handle the same tomorrow.
Actually, I could.

I wonder when there are Toulon Toulouse matches whether a few people make misguided accommodation and travel arrangements by mistake. At least the distances are close enough to justify following through on the accommodation if your team wins to taunt the local fans in person. However, you might extend your stay in the hospital if you get over-enthused.

Good luck Leinster. I'm watching this one on a stream I hope and would absolutely love to see a) Toulon go down at home; not convinced they've been the same "quality" as last year b) BOD continue to go out in style c) Munster v Leinster SF

Toulon is a great place to go and watch rugby. Great place, great crowd.
Leinster should win at a canter as frankly Toulon are not very good - but to offer some balance to this irish love in ( :
