Re: Aviva Premiership - Round 19
Glad I tuned in for the last 30 minutes of Bath Gloucester. That ref was ruddy awful although fair enough with the yellow and red toward the end (the second yellow, a bit much, maybe fair enough given context of 6 points in it, 5 minutes to go).
Always amazes me to see teams playing 13/12/11 players and they don't just pass it out and straighten up - think the pressure gets to them!

The uncontested bit annoyed me the most Wasps did it before the Premiership stepped in.
could Glous get docked points if it found out Murphy has played TH before?

Gloucester website report
Controversy reigns as penalty try snatches win for Bath
This game had so many twists and turns that no-one knew who would emerge triumphant until the very final minute, but referee Tim Wigglesworth took centre stage as multiple cards and a penalty try handed the win to Bath by 18 points to 17.
Not bitter, much!

Shedweb is up. and it not just the ref or the players getting stick.
A new thread
What do the "ball boys" actually do?
« on: Today at 06:33:49 PM »
Cos they sure as hell don't provide the ball for play! How many times Gloucester needed a quick ball and it was never provided. Then when they had a ball, another was thrown onto the pitch. Just like everything else this season... a f****ng joke!

Re: Aviva Premiership - Round 19
"Not blaming them, but it's indicative of the ill-preparedness at our club. We need every help we can get, 12T was screaming for a ball on a couple of occasions; and Bath had a couple of quick lineout chances because the ballboys simply sat and watched the game instead of getting to the ball first! Most professional sports are won by small margins, getting the ballboys working for the team would be a start!"
So Glous rebuilding for next season will start with the transfer of new ball boys with Nigel Davies being promoted to head Ball boy and Mark anscombe going in from the less demanding job of Glous head Coach

Well, we were not very good. Lost count on the number of times lineout jumpers would gather the ball fine, then throw it down wildly or drop it on landing. Crane had control issues at the back of the scrum. Owen Williams struggled with kicking, passing and catching. Niki Goneva tried to do too much. Our receiving at kick offs was shambolic.
Thank the lord for Manu's power and defence. Scored two, saved two.

A TBP win is a TBP win.
prob still some rust from the Clermont game.
How did Logo look when he went off?
Thought Balmain showed enough to warrant more game time which if Logo is out next week is a very good thing.
We missed Allen the most by the sound of it today no one took control of the game.

Re: Aviva Premiership - Round 19
Logo had treatment on the calf, which has been bothering him for some time, within 5 minutes of entering the fray. Matt Mullan had a very solid day.
Crowd largely muted. Sell-out crowd, but it was one of those days when you always feel the result is in no doubt (even when Wasps were leasding) but the fare is a bit average. Volume went mental just for the last 8 minutes.

Doubt it he had a good weeks rest.
Depending on Logo injury we may be without out 1st and 2nd choice TH next week.
Well Morris and Parling played today which is nicce.
And Croft, Benjamin and Camacho are nearly back. cockers said Croft could be back before May.

Oh no, what would it be like to be without one's 1st and 2nd choice Tightheads?!
When Sinckler goes off you could play your 7th choice and do fine

Yeh but you have Marler, and Ward to of the best front rowers in the AP to cover!!!
Just a wonder when do Sinckler and Collier become out of contract.
Just wondering for no reason. (especially Sinckler been looking great so far this season).

I didn't see the Glaws v Bath game, but am reading about the fallout. What a shambles. They have to be fined. Murphy has played tighthead for us before. I accept that he is gash there, but he's not much better at loosehead if we're being honest. He is 100% 'qualified' to play tighthead.

Mate it was a shambles all round, the ref spoiled the game as a spectacle, but the team who wanted to play rugby won.

The ref certainly spoilt the game, it was really strange.
I'm a bit lost at your "wanted to play rugby" comment is suggesting though??
On a side note I thought Ford was awful.

What game did you watch, it wasn't one of his best but he wasn't awful! Some of his passing and vision was superb.

The same game you did.
His kicking from hand was dreadful, as was his goal kicking. I thought his game management was poor and his tackling sub standard. I thought he had a real stinker.

Of course it's my opinion.
I don't think your counter argument holds much weight. Poor goal kicking.....it was windy. Twelvetrees seemed to do ok.

Re: Aviva Premiership - Round 19
Yes he did but he attempted some extremely difficult kicks, Ford's were pretty straight forward.
Incorrect, Ford missed the most tackles of any player on show (3 in total)
I rate Ford, I just thought he had a massive off day.

Re: Aviva Premiership - Round 19
Missing 3 tackles isn't average, it's poor.
I'm not suggesting he is a bruising tackling 10 but you expect an Int 10 to make his tackles at AP level.
If Ford can't deal with Tindall, Cook etc, how can he be expected to deal with Nonu, Savea?
We obviously have very differing opinions of what is average.

Re: Aviva Premiership - Round 19
Ford defended the 10 channel really well for us last season. So much so that he had the highest tackle % of any 10 in the league - with more tackles and less misses than Farrell, let alone less defensively able 10s.
However I saw earlier this season that Bath seemed to be hiding him a little in the defensive line - are they still doing that?

Let’s cut to the chase, Nigel Davies should be let go. This season has been an all too predictable failure and he should be first on the list to pay the price.

Well Quins had a nice weekend anyway was pleasantly surprised by that game. Far better control by Quins in the face of a very physical and tough Sale pack.
Once we stopped putting ourselves under pressure we looked a very good side.
Oh and I think that's the best result at Sale by an away team all season.

Only not comparable because it was not head on - which saved Garvey a bit (and the player he slammed in the side of his head with his upper arm). Slightly high is very one-eyed comment - especially as once high it is high (surely very high misses?). Garvey smacked the guy in the ear - so pretty much middle of the head.
Unlike the Guardian though - i cannot see Garvey being cited for that challenge.
