Re: Edinburgh V Munster
In fairness that wasn't that bad a move!
Geoff looked ok against Treviso, he is getting gametime which is very important for a prop and if Glasgow can clinch a home semi i'm sure the sru would be pretty happy.

Re: Edinburgh V Munster
What do people think of Gilchrist's development this season?
I think he has been consistently excellent all season, and his lineout work in particular has been very good with Edinburgh's lineout being one of the few success stories this year.
I don't think it's fair to level the 'lack of physicality, grunt and hard edge' accusations at him anymore as he failry puts himself about the pitch now and his work rate is superb.
He'd definitely do a job if called up by Scotland but unfortunately for him there is so much competition. He's behind the Gray's and Hamilton (rightly or wrongly) in the Scotland pecking order I'd say but I'd take him over Swinson just now, for the added athleticism and lineout work.
Maybe he's seen lineout calling as his way into the Scotland squad given not many people can do it.

Agree with that, RDW, and personally would have him just behind the Grays and ahead of Hamilton - there should be more to come too

Re: Edinburgh V Munster
Gilchrist was one of the few Edinburgh players who still looked interested and put in a whole 80 minute shift on saturday. He played very well and stood out as a good player in a bad side, which is never an easy thing to do.

Re: Edinburgh V Munster
Yeah, Gilchrist has really impressed me this season. He was instrumental in the 2012 Heino run, but I think he really fell off last year (not his fault - Mike Bradley could have sucked the class from Isreal Falou). To see him back to, and often surpassing, those levels of performance is absolutely fantastic to see.
It's pretty clear that with the two Grays and Gilchrist, we'll have a world class boiler house for the next decade, injuries permitting.

I would suggest a move along the M8 however to replace the ageing warhorse that is Al Kellock - instill some winning mentality in the lad, compete with Gray and Swinson for a starting spot

Re: Edinburgh V Munster
I have lost all enthusiasm for the Leinster game given:
A - we pretty much know what the Edinburgh team will be
B - We're going to get pumped
So if anyone else fancies doing a match thread feel free.
I notice that Jack Cuthbert has been called up to the 7s squad. Bit of a surprise given that a key feature for a 7s players is to have pace, but also because Tom Brown was injured at the weekend so we're down to one fit back 3 player - Visser....
Matt Scott at 15 it is then!

Actually I've just ralised this can only mean one thing -
Piers Francis to 10
Bezzy to 15
Beard to the wing
GC's racist uncle Dougie on the bench

About time. He won't let anyone down. Other than making jokes about Irish being being 'a bit slow' and 'laying block driveways'.

Sure Sam Hidalgo-Clyne would be better than Beard as a winger, that way Beard can play centre and Scott to 15 as you suggest.
Choosing between Bezzy and Francis at 10 is depressing.

Scottish Independence is a completely stupid idea, and the "Yes" camp are a bunch of morons.
There you go Tattie, they should lock it now.
