Yeah, fair point Olly. They're not doing anything this offseason to make the worst defense in the league any better.

Trust Jerry Jones to spoil the draft.Number-25 wrote:Boooooo... what a let down Jerry. Very sensible pick in the end. I guess he decided he better do his best to keep Romo upright and healthy.

I like Brandin Cooks. I thought that might be the pick when they moved up ahead of the Eagles. The Eagles should go defence but I wonder if they will think about Johnny Manziel at #22.

Last time Browns took a QB at 22 was Weeden. Time before that was Brady Quinn.

I was expecting the Rams to move down from one of their picks. Them getting Donald is a good move though. Fair play Cleveland though. If they do well tonight they could have a shot at the AFC North.

Re: NFL Draft 2014 Discussion
Eh, reach but our board got nuked before 22.
Most likely we tried to trade out again but nobody was biting, we had no first round ranked players left so he was top of the board.
Fits the scheme, can rush the passer, set the edge and drop in coverage, needs some development though. Has the size and versatility the FO craves under Chip.

I don't like what the Rams did. Bradford is not good enough. Priority 1 should've grabbing a QB. Manziel would've fit the NFC West mould of playmaking QBs backed up strong defense and run game.

Maybe. We've tended to be pretty aggressive though recently, I'd imagine we'd have taken him at 22 if he ranked highly.

I can't be too harsh on them cos I think they've picked up two elite talents, but they're in serious danger of just wasting one of the biggest bounties in recent NFL history and missing out on RG3 as a resultGSC wrote:I don't like what the Rams did. Greg Robinson, fine, 2 was too rich for Manziel. But they definitely should've pulled the trigger at 13.

How have they wasted it though? Robinson will be an All Pro some day and Donald is a seriously talented player. Quinn-Donald-Brockers-Long is mouth-watering.

The biggest winners of day one for me are the Browns and Bills. Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel are my top CB and QB in the draft.

Re: NFL Draft 2014 Discussion
I don't like both Gilbert and Manziel. Overrated IMO. Another bad draft, for me, was the Panthers. Not only did they fail to fill the bigger hole on the OL, they just drafted a player that will flame out of the NFL in 2 years time.
Packers and Ravens got excellent value with HHCD and CJ Mosley respectively.

Re: NFL Draft 2014 Discussion
I agree about the Packers drafting Haha Clinton-Dix. I can't believe Calvin Pryor went before him and that four safeties went in the 1st round. After Clinton-Dix, I thought there was a big drop off in talent in that position.NYJ wrote:I don't like both Gilbert and Manziel. Overrated IMO. Another bad draft, for me, was the Panthers. I like the Giants pick basically getting Beckham in for Nicks. Calvin Johnson and Eric Ebron make a nice pair of targets for Matt Stafford.

NFL is moronic at times. He will be one of those wonderful hindsight picks where we laugh at all the teams that passed on him. "The Jets took Stephen Hill two picks before Alshonn Jeffery went to the Bears".

Re: NFL Draft 2014 Discussion
Don't understand the Bills giving up so much for a player who they probably won't be able to get the ball to enough.
Jaguars taking Bortles is just yuck. At best he's Jake Locker, at worst he's Blaine Gabbert 2.0. Nowhere near ready to start in the NFL either, so you've just let a load of talent slip for someone who's no good
Green Bay must've been laughing when Dix fell to them, best pick of the first round for me in terms of value and need
Don't like Roby in Denver, gets burned way too often
Easley is a huge risk from us injury wise, potential to be Geno Atkins like if healthy tho
Jaguars taking Bortles is just yuck. At best he's Jake Locker, at worst he's Blaine Gabbert 2.0. Nowhere near ready to start in the NFL either, so you've just let a load of talent slip for someone who's no good

Am hoping Redskins will trade back. Maybe a desperate Cleveland will look to jump the queue to try to grab Marquise Lee given the news that has broken about Josh Gordon??

Perhaps the Browns will trade up and get Marqise Lee with Josh Gordon being suspended.Barney92 wrote:I think they trade down.

Dallas Cowboys have traded up. They were linked with Kony Ealy earlier.

Thinks it's a good move for the Redskins. They have a good few needs so picking up an extra player is handy for them.

they are protecting Johnny Manziel first. Find someone he can throw to later.Number-25 wrote:Cleveland take Bitonio??? Didn't realise he could play WR.

They're going to have to be able to protect him for a long time now.

If Houston didn't need a QB I'd love there draft so far
Carolina seems to think it can play without a left tackle next year, carries on taking defensive players
