Bolton are in 172.9m worth of debt and have no FFP penalties. Similarly Brighton have like 100m I think.
But god forbid an owner invest his own money in players when PL failures get millions. FL owners voting for FFP was the equivalent of turkeys voting for Christmas. The gulf between the PL and Championship is growing out of hand, and soon enough it'll be repeated between yo yo clubs and the rest of the division

I've said from the start that FFP is a good idea but it needs a hell of a lot of tweaks to keep everything on an even keel. An owner should be allowed to plough as much into a club as he wants the only thing is that the debt should fall on him/her and not the club itself.
It protects the club itself and allows the owner to get involved as much as they want.

FFP is merely a tool to protect the elite.
The elite in the Championship will be those earning 30m a year from the PL

You can do better than that Olly, On the one hand i'm absolutely gutted at how our season has fallen apart, on the other our defence is woeful (what were they all doing for the second) and my worry is that if we go up we could be in for some absolute shockers if we don't change the whole back 4.

We have been in trouble and fined for breaching financial rules. We got fined £30,000 just last week for borrowing money. We borrowed £10.5m last August and followed up with a further £5.6m which obviously meant the FDC didn't like it.
I'll be very surprised if we pass the FFP.

What a huge goal that could be... Never once expected someone like Woodgate, yes the defender once of Newcastle and Real Madrid, to make that kind of error.
Off up to Blackpool tomorrow night with probably another 100-300 Reading fans as well in the hopes that we can finally send them down and we can just give ourselves a comfortable margin above the bottom 3.

Once again a pathetic non performance, much the same as the Bournemouth game.
1 striker up front against Bournemouth,1 striker up front against Watford and 1 shot on target in both games, clean sheet on Friday against Wigan,so Karanka drops 2 defenders and play's 2 debutants, give your head a shake Karanka, this is rank amateurish management.
Don't fancy us to get anything at Norwich, glad this was on Sky so fans on 606 can see what I mean about Adam Reach being totally overrated and ineffective, and we send Carayol to Brighton on loan unbelievable.
We have bottled it.

Stats in our local paper have us with 2 shots on target against Watford, forget about Lee Tomlins weak volley straight at the keeper.Nico the gman wrote:Once again a pathetic non performance, much the same as the Bournemouth game.

This is shredding my nerves, and we don't even play til quarter past 5. If Forest and Huddersfield can hold on for the last ten they'd be doing us a massive favour!

Looks like the top 2 are being cut down from 8 to 4 with a 4 pts gap between 4th & 5th
Bournemouth & Watford with fairly simple run ins too, Norwich to play Boro so could be fun few weeks.

When your having a bad day from some guy on Twitter
I cashed out for £20 when Birmingham scored twice, now Bournemouth are winning I would be winning £890...
Sad times....
I feel like this is something Duty would do

Watford at Forest could be interesting, Norwich will put paid to us and fancy them automatic with Bournemouth.Fernando wrote:Looks like the top 2 are being cut down from 8 to 4 with a 4 pts gap between 4th & 5th

Please don't let Bourenmouth go up. Can already hear the pundits in my head calling them small little Bourenmouth when they have money to burn! Entertaining team mind.
Team I love is Brentford. They never give up. Can't believe they are getting rid of mark Waterburn at the end of the season.

Whilst they have money to burn Nick, FFP won't allow them too essentially so prepare for small little Bournemouth with the smallest stadium..

What does money to burn mean? How much of a difference will it make in the big league? Why do birds sing so gay?

Problem Bournemouth will have is attracting top players even with money to spend, gonna need a top scouting network.NickisBHAFC wrote:Please don't let Bourenmouth go up. Re: 2014/15 Championship Thread
I just hate the fact people class them as a small club. Yes the fanbase and staidum isn't big at all but if you can have a 7 million pound bid rejected for a birmingham player in January suggests they have a lot of dosh. Wilson, Rante, Ritche, O Kane have all been spent big in the last few years. As well as big wages on Jones, Bouric etc.
Sorry for Blackpool supporters, nice football club that has being destroyed by the chairman. Was a pleasure joining in the protest back in January and an enjoyable weekend up there. M
Wigan and Millwall I expect will follow soon.

What happened with Karl Oyston? I know he's very unpopular right now, but it was only a few years ago that Blackpool fans seemed to adore him. Was it just him stopping spending money on the club?

That's what I thought crimey, it's since the premiership days I understand the problems started. Fans seem to think he went a bit mental in the head and has just done one bad thing after an other. He seems to just take the fan out of everything. I.e Jon Lewis was a popular player on loan from Cardiff and he personally refused to re-sign him on loan without any justification.

That's Mackay gone and about time. He just was never cut out for the job, although, they still managed to beat us at the Madejski, what a surprise.
Suffer the long trip up to Blackpool for tonights game. The only reason I'm going is because I was hoping this would be Blackpool's game where they confirm relegation. Seems like Rotherham did that for them last night. This could be an awful game....

Well, we seem to be doing our level best to ensure we have to take part in the play-offs.
I was unlucky enough to catch both games.
We dominated against Wigan and should have had 3 or 4, but for some atrocious passing, crossing and finishing. Also why do we NEVER have anyone at the far post (in general, not this match specifically)? The number of tap-ins we could have had is ridiculous. Worrying that Wigan almost made us pay for the missed chances, towards the end.
Very weak performacne against Watford. Seems like most of the squad are suffering end-of-season jitters, or apathy or something. Our standard of play has really fallen away since the Ipswich game a few weeks ago. Fair enough, Watford played well, but they weren't exceptional and certainly weren't unbeatable. Think Adomah and Dimi were about the only players to come out of that game with any credit.
- We don't fight hard enough to win the ball back
- We stand off the opposition too much, encouraging them to shoot
- Passing is either slow, safe and predictable, or ridiculously ambitious, meaning we are either ineffectual or give possession away cheaply.
- Final balls / crosses are often wayward
From the way we're playing at the moment, AK would have to do some serious spending to keep us up, if we were to get promoted. A few weeks ago consistency was our biggest problem - we'd be good one game and poor the next, but now the players really do look like they're struggling.
5 games to go now and 3 look very winnable (providing we play to our potential). Should be enough to keep us in the top 6, if not the top 2. My predictions...just for laughs...
Rotherham (H) - Win
Wolves (H) - Draw
Norwich (A) - Loss
Fulham (A) - Win
Brighton (H) - Win
Would give us 85 points. The way Bournemouth, Norwich and Watford are going right now, I see us missing out on automatic promotion by a point or two.

The Wigan game, easy game made to look hard, haven't seen Leadbitter give the ball away as much as he is at present,2 game ban might recharge his batteries, if we can come through next 2 home games unscathed without him.dyrewolfe wrote:Nico the gman wrote:Stats in our local paper have us with 2 shots on target against Watford, forget about Lee Tomlins weak volley straight at the keeper.Nico the gman wrote:Once again a pathetic non performance, much the same as the Bournemouth game.

I feel Karanka is going into big away games not to lose rather than trying to win them, when your top of the league you let the opposition do the worrying not the other way round, Mogga style mentality.
The same tactics we failed with at Bournemouth where employed against Watford with the same result,as a manager your supposed to learn by your mistakes, typical stubborn boss, Karanka seems to have to wait till we're 2 down before changing tactics.
What's the chances of us playing with 1 striker up front against Norwich, probably absolute certainty.
My predictions
Rotherham (H) Win
Wolves (H) Win
Norwich (A) Certain loss
Fulham (A) Draw
Brighton (H) Win
The dreaded play offs and its anyone's shout.
