No it wasn't............TheSecondComing wrote:Jumanji was great.
Anyway, Williams may have ceased to be as "relevant" in recent years but there's no denying that, in his pomp, he was a genuine tour de force. Brave enough to accept the challenge of "serious acting" roles and over time showed a genuine versatility in his acting ability. Not many make the leap from stand up comic to Oscar winner.
Sad loss to the world. An absolute whirlwind of barely held in check energy and the provider of some of modern cinema's more iconic roles.
Good Morning Vietnam is a testament to his comedic genius, timing and improv skills.

Hit me two seconds after I said "I do"...
I'm depressed now because I thought the title said Robbie Williams..

No, I won't. Jumanji was an excellent family film, with a witty yet strangely harrowing performance from Williams.DAVE667 wrote:No it wasn't....will you be told, man?TheSecondComing wrote:Yes, it was.DAVE667 wrote:No it wasn't............TheSecondComing wrote:Jumanji was great.

Loved Dead Poet Society, Good Will Humping and Jack (so far unmentioned). Seemed an alright bloke on Graham Norton or whatever program he was on. Asphyxiation? I would tie a rope round a bridge and get in the water and let the flow end it peacefully.

Always find it amusing when someone writes he was a genuine family Man.....
Because I've done a lot of studies for many big businessmen who no doubt loved their families who were proper asssholes.....
I'm being pedantic but I always find it amusing what a meaningless bunch of words they are...
You have a family...You love them...It's taken as read..

I see the world's second least funny man (after Russell Brand) Russel Kane is putting his worthless tuppence in regarding Williams suicide.

No idea what the lad's tweeted but having seen Mr Kane on TV recently, I'd hazard a guess that Williams' well documented drug/alcohol problems aren't a million miles away from what ails young Russell these days. He suffered a very public meltdown and image make-over after some relationship catastrophe (he referred to it as his kitchen floor reset) and yet the man still looks about fifteen seconds away from life-ending binge.
The death of Robin Williams has probably struck a chord with Kane

Re: Robin Williams
I hoped this thread would be somewhere people could leave nice messages of respect, discuss some wonderful films and comedic moments, and maybe too address some concerns and support for genuine fight people have with depression. It is disappointing to see it became an "I know better than you" fest where both sides looked immature.
I struggle with depression. I'm currently finding it very hard. I found the news a weird sort of blow, and was then extremely disappointed in some newspapers, including the Metro and the Mirror, for deciding to base their front page stories on gruesome and graphic details.
I detest this even more than I am sickened by the way some media outlets report on homicides like a gossip laden entertainment piece.
There are vulnerable people who will have seen these stories and reports and been affected. Maybe knowingly, others already weak who will have taken things on board that do their peace of mind no good at all.
The Samaritans produce quite easily found guidelines in situations such as this, ones ignored blatantly by some papers. And, I suppose to some, who cares? The weaker of us with mental strength cannot be mollycoddled. I would hope decent people don't think that way.
And that goes to ignore the way a man's death has been treated as a "good news day" for papers who can boast disturbing facts.
Personally, it sparked thoughts in my mind I can usually keep at bay. I hope others who either don't have the support network in place or just are worse off than myself could see the positives of life and fight on.

I was appalled by Alan Brazil's comments on Talksport. I have lobbied for his removal from the airwaves and have now tuned in to a different channel until he has been sacked.

There is nothing wrong with people having and expressing opinion. I don't know what he's said, I presume that he questions suicide/mental illness as he has before, but if the criteria for listening to a station was that you agreed with everything that was said on it then nobody would listen to anything.
AS for Talksport, Mike Parry and Mike Graham overnight is the only thing worth listening to.

"There is nothing wrong with people having and expressing opinion." - as Stan Collymore said, having an opinion on a factual illness is called ignorance.super_realist wrote:There is nothing wrong with people having and expressing opinion. Agreed, I'd never have suspected someone as busy as Dolph to be susceptible to such a state. It really does open your eyes - if Dolph can suffer, so can we all. What is comforting is the overwhelming reaction from the public - only a few small-minded idiots have abused Williams' family, while 99.99999999999% have been fantastic. That's what you want to see.

A load of bo..ocks was spouted last night.
Back to Williams and his films. He made one called RV, which in all honesty is as corny as a lorry load of sweetcorn, but it's one of my favourite Williams films.
Head up Dolphin. Supporting west ham cannot help :-)

Re: Robin Williams
Remember going to see Dead Poet's Society at the cinema and people were shuffling in their seats waiting for Williams to go off on one and do something zany. It was the same with Jim Carrey in The Truman Show. People were struggling to accept that a comedian might be able to take on a serious role.

Not sure what Brazil said.
There will always be people, famous or not, who will make fun of the dead.
Its not for me.
Maybe the shoe will be on the other foot, when those making fun lose a loved one.
How will they react when they hear people making fun of their loss.
