US Open Day 6!
First topic message reminder :
Ah the US Open, the tennis major where tennis is the side attraction. The crowd appear to be there for a natter whilst the tennis is on in the background, making for a rather unique atmosphere during the evening matches. In the past we've had fights, we've had frights and when the matches are played at night, they're played under the lights.
The Day 2 schedule is as follows:
Arthur Ashe Stadium (day)
Pennetta v Gibbs (really?)
Djokovic v Querrey
Williams v Lepchenko
Night
BZS v Bouchard
Kyrgios v Robredo
Louis Armstrong
Kvitova v Krunic
Murray v Kuznetsov
Kohlschreiber v Isner
Wawrinka v Kavcic
Grandstand
Estrella v Raonic
Vesnina v Azarenka
Tsonga v Carreno-Busta
doubles
Other matches of note:

He's only facing Robredo mate... I agree he does look good, but if you didn't believe in him earlier, I'm not sure what smashing Robredo proves. A quick look shows that Raonic leads the Robredo head to head 2-0...

Boredo survives with his experience, young Nick is over enthusiastic he needs to calm his aggressive nerves down a bit, something he will learn with more maturity.

Boredo is varying enough of his shots to not give Kyrgios the same pace and height to hit through. At 3-4, danger time for Kyrgios.

So you the one who wrote that comment
Roanic has no clue how to play Rafa and Rafa makes him look like mug, in comparison this kid plays Rafa for the first time and that too in a GS and gobsmacks and bullies Rafa to submission.
Roanic can only beat Robredos but Nick can beat Rafas and this match is not over yet.

It wasn't me, I'm the one who said he isn't better than Tsonga. Everyone knows I'm not Raonic's biggest fan

Raonic is a nice guy but his game is so boring and sucks , he is often clueless against Roger/Rafa inspite of winning the 1st. He is on tour like 4-5 years now? and this kid already beaten the world no.1 something Roanic could only dream off, and guess what this is all coming from Raonic's native country men, Roanic lives like an hour from my place and I have seen Roanic live even when he was playing kids tennis.
I am very angry that his game has never improved.

This is what he will learn as he matures, something to control his emotions when things don't go expected way, he was thumbing Boredo in the 2nd set for a 3-0 lead and lost the plot somewhere coz Boredo held the serve from 0-40.

Smashing Robredo on hard courts specially on USO won't be easy, he has had some big 5 setters with Nole, has beaten Fed, thats impressive CV Boredo posses.

Kyrgios at this point seems a better version of Tomic. The exuberance of youth lacking the wisdom gained from experience.

On skill I would say both are equal but on belief and hard work certainly Nick is better.

Funny enough I was just thinking about how much he plays like Tomic. I don't think Tommo lacks belief... he just doesn't give a [expletive].

Awkward silence in the booth following Kyrgios' attempt at a reverse tweener. Disrespectful apparently to the USO apparently...

Tommy is playing brilliant thou, giving nothing for the kid, the defense from the baseline has been pure magical at times that too given the power of the kid.

These commentators are becoming embarrassing. " he just said thank you to the ball boy, that was pretty cool"
"I'm telling you, this guy is the real deal"...I mean what?

Re: US Open Day 6!
Sometimes beating all these Boredos and Ferrers are more difficult than beating Rafas and Rogers, the simple reason being underestimating the opponent and playing a dream of a match.
When these kids play Roger Rafas they try to play match of dreams in comparison they underestimate these Boredos and Ferrers to fall into a trap and lose a winning a match.

Robredo wins the tie breaker. Easily match of the tournament so far.

Re: US Open Day 6!
Hmmm, luck is not smiling on the little Nick's side, but saying all that Boredo is a very good player on USO and he is proving it right once again.
Not sure Nick has got in him to win this in 5, Boredo broke his spirit by stealing 2 sets which Nick could have won easy.

See Roanic never gives this kinda feeling on any of his matches, Nick is making spend my long weekend staring at my TV.

Re: US Open Day 6!
Nick is playing a very emotional angry tennis, clearly playing with lack of plan while Robredo exactly knows how each and every point has to be won.

Impressive from Robredo; he managed to neutralize Kyrgios and by the end of the match he was in total control.

Re: US Open Day 6!
Due to work I never saw the Murray match but seems there was the customary dip of form/concentration and standards mid-match. He will survive matches against low-rankers but next up is Tsonga. Going purely on their matches so far here and on recent few weeks form I have to make Tsonga favourite. If Murray can return to top form then he would win but that is an enormous if considering we haven't seen that form for over a year now.

Re: US Open Day 6!
If Murray plays like he did for first set and half plus last set he'll win.
