We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
such a shame Strootman got injured before the world cup. Think he'd be at the club otherwise. He should have been here last summer along with thiago but we ballsed it up and ended up with fellaini.

We'd need to as they are pretty awful.
MK dons tomorrow night and Burnley this weekend first though.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Simply put these are our problems imo:
Centre Midfield:
Our back up cm's are nowhere near good enough, as shown with Fletcher and Cleverly at the weekend. If fit, Herrera and Carrick are a good partnership but if we can get Vidal in it would be a massive coup. Failing that, De Jong then Strootman in Jan.
Injuries:
Carrick (Best ball playing mid)
Evans (Best CB)
Herrera (Most creative Midfielder)
Shaw (Our best LWB)
Rafael (Our best RWB)
New formation:
A completely alien formation to utd is always going to take time to adapt to and get used to, simple as that.
My advice to us utd fans: stick with the team, trust the manager and hope we can bring a few players in this week. We've signed a world class talent in Di Maria and hopefully in a week or two our injuries have subsided and we have a fully fit RVP. Liverpool also had a slowish start to last season and didn't get going till after christmas. Utd normally come on strong then so sit tight and see where we are around January.

FL Di Maria was apparently flying in for a medical today or tomorrow so I'd say the deal is pretty much done.

footballLight wrote:If you fancy reading what I've put, you might get a clearer understanding. Its like you read half, stop halfway through and then slate me then. But, I'm arguing with 2 United fans, you're both extremely bitter. For the THIRD and FINAL time, my point is that United fans are so oblivious to the fact that they have poor quality in their side, the fans aren't bitter to admit that the situation the club are (they can't break back into Europe as they are a typical mid table side) and that already, United fans and amny pundits and other sets of fans can now finally see that LVG's "genius" isn't all that it is cracked up to.
Don't think anyone here is bitter but you for some reason.
We know there is a lack of quality, everyone has been saying we needed a cm, centre half and fullback to even challenge for top 4 - probably another cm and winger for trophies. We've signed some players in problem positions and are after more.
I'm not sure what typical mid table sides have the likes of De Gea, RVP, Rooney, Mata etc
From a neutral perspective, I'm speaking for quite a lot here on the whole, its obvious that you're proving my point. You're oblivious to the situation. Di Maria will sort our problems, United don't even have a deal in place for him so how can you say it will be completed tomorrow? We will just keep buying more attackers, what when Fulham's defence looks better than Smalling, Rojo, Jones and Blackett. SOME United fans are shcokingly bitter. You two fall into that category with all due respect. A lot of that is sarcasm but surely, if you are true United fans then you could see just what exactly I'm getting at
Again no one thinks Di Maria will solve all our problems, you are just making this up I'm afraid.
All the major outlets here and in Spain are reporting the deal is more or less done and he will sign tomorrow.
You said Rojo was good enough to make a difference in another post - now he isn't?
Fulham have lost 4/4 in the championship by the way and are playing 6 or 7 u21s.
Anyway, can we leave this here please, we aren't getting very far, I'm tired, I'm ready to watch tonight's game and I'm hungry, so I've got things to do. I do apologise for any offensive comments, but that's the heat of the debate I suppose. Good evening.
You type like you are talking to someone and it is very confusing.

I think it is rather a large jump to suggest that United are a typical mid-table side.
The irony is that FootballLight keeps going on about United fans being bitter!

2-2 I'll go for. Will be close for me. Be interesting to see the midfield battle. Fernando had a decent debut last week but he won't have faced the pace and skill of Coutinho and Sterling. Yaya doesn't run too much either so a potential area for Liverpool to target.

Could he be another Michael Owen? Overplayed from a young age and finished by his mid-20s?

Owens problems came from constantly being on the turn, Sterling will probably get rotated this season as well so should be ok.
Good start from Liverpool, Moreno looks good at left back and Lovern is organising the defence well.

Owen was constantly rushed back too and lost faith in his own body, was still a fantastic finisher but without that burst of speed was half the player.

Harsh lesson for Moreno but he made 3 errors in under a minute and was punished for the last one.

Question whether Moreno gets a shout there to tell him Jovetic was coming behind him, standard stuff really but still sloppy. Really against the run of play as well.

Lovren may as well not be playing for that goal.

Why did he not start? Coming back from injury/lack of fitness or is he 2nd choice?

Building up the fitness mainly think he had a niggly issue by sounds of things though with his hamstring again.

My son's a natural winger but has to play CB most often for his team as he's the only one who has sense to maintain his position and reads the game, everyone else switches off or wanders upfield, it's like a generation of David Luiz's.
