Before your time... but I never really took to him back in the days when he was Cliff Huxtable.
Surely with a name like that it should have been a dead give-away. I bet Lisa Bonet knew the full story. He probably inspired her to do Angel Heart.

I'm going to be catching you up soon, LD.
I'm going to work in Hong Kong for practically the whole of December. 1st to the 23rd anyway. What are they, 3 hours behind you?
If I get the time, we can chat like we are best friends without all these European goons getting in the way with their "morning" comments.
ha ha, yes... but I'm quite used to it now.
Yes, Hong Kong is 3 hours behind AEST. Where are you staying there?
I'll keep an eye out for you on the overhead pedestrian bridges above the protesters. See if you can borrow a water hose from the HK Fire Dept.
Yes, Tino where are you staying there? What's your room number?

Way before my time, but I caught reruns on one of those retro channels last year, so I've seen every episode. Found it very funny. Not Fresh Prince of Bel-Air funny, but funny nonetheless.

Similar style of humour. No way I could watch re-runs of it now that we all know what a debauched creep he is.
As you know - a leopard never changes its spots... they just get larger over time.

Tsim Sha Tsui. I'm not willing to commit to the hotel or room number for fear of Galted arriving in the middle of night.

Ja I'm watching. We were playing at Melbourne, so it's basically a guaranteed win. Can't figure for all the marbles how Mclaren is as successful as he is in cricket. Pity Johnson didn't get to bowl to him, that's always fun

Re: The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
Are they those demanding types that keep saying "Sucky Sucky for dollar"? Went to Ethiopia for a few weeks last year, and it was amazing how quickly the place had changed in the eighteen months it had been since I went there. German and Asian cars everywhere, new nightclubs. Creepy middle aged Europeans preying on the young naive women. It's quite amazing actually. Even the music had changed at the nightclubs. Lots of country, some Dolly Parton on account of the age bracket of the people most likely to pay for drinks. Think I heard "A town called Malice" once or twice as well. Strange.

If Adam were to quickly lock this thread and create a new one, we could avoid Galted's big red arse as the thread split post.

Lyrics and odd one out. Cheers
I don’t think that I can take it, cause it too too long to bake it
Take a look at the Lawman, Beating up the wrong guy
Seeing you, touching you, holding you tight, Don't you feel at this moment, lost through the night.
When you can't find the music, To get down and boogie

1. McArthur Park. Donna Summer - or some bloke that did the original. I keep thinking it's Richard Harris, but that seems unlikely
2. Life on Mars - Bowie
4. Step back in time? Some SAW act? Mel & Kim?

If it was Richard Harris it's something to do with singers/actors. Either the odd one out is number 3 (never acted) or Richard Harris (primarily an actor, the others are primarily singers).

You're near enough Jules. Three was Steffan Dennis, don't it make you feel good. Bowie was the odd one out, he was a singer who became an actor, the others are actors who became singers.

congrats LD. To no one's great surprise, Ryan Mclaren is the genius who went at six an over. No idea who that goat faced Behardien is manipulating to stay in the team. There's no need for allrounders of his ilk, who do a bit of both but not much of either

They've done well without him in these last two matches though, haven't they? We have too many good pace bowlers who can demolish any side with considerable regularity... especially at home. I want to see more of Muirhead and Boyce in certain conditions as well. So sick of Watson - just dump him and get Faulkner in there.
Cheers Franc, unfortunately your guys fell apart again towards the end. SA should have really posted around 320-340... they were going that well.
Bring on the final meaningless one (for some) on Sunday. I want to see 4-1 if possible. They can do it I'm sure.

Preety (very) poor SA side though. I may just be a grumpy old man but you put the SA?AUS/ENG sides ODI & Test up against their compatriots of 10-15 years ago and there'd only be one winner in each case.

We are missing/resting a few too. Always hard to compare across generations but I see what you are saying. I believe in the idea of incremental improvements over time. The players today are even more versatile across the 3 formats and in many ways it is harder to shine above the rest for a sustained period of time with a lot more competition nipping at ones heels.

Or the diversification of skillset dilutes the skillset in each individual discipline?

Re: The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
What I miss is the classical footwork and orthodox strokeplay. I mean, look at AB or Amla especially. Great hand-eye co-ordination but only an initial move then anchored feet for the stroke. It doesn't seem to hurt their success rate though - both great players. Some unbelievably bizarre shots are being made (by other players, eg Dhoni's helicopter shot, ramp shot, etc)... looks ugly, yet can be very effective. Sort of annoys me that!
So in that respect, yes, a dilution in the "old" skillset in each discipline but also the creation of new ones.
