True, but Graham Thorpe was a very elegant batsman. And Thorpe Park is alright if you can put up with all the chavs.

Unmoved and frankly underwhelmed by Beethoven's 9th. I did only have time for the first 20 minutes or so, perhaps it picks up later on. I suppose I was waiting for the Ride of the Valkyries / William Tell moment, but it just never came. Disappointed.

It gradually picks up for the first 25 minutes, becomes serene for the next 15 then goes absolutely apeshittingly mindblowingly gloriously nuts for the last 25. The last movement takes the p1ss out of the first three a bit by mimicking them then discarding them.

If you don't have the patience for the whole piece there's a 7 minute electronic version by Wendy/Walter Carlos that was used in A Clockwork Orange.

Watched The Equaliser which was pretty average apart from the acts of ridiculously graphic violence, and the Imitation Game, which was extremely good, despite the lack of acts of ridiculously graphic violence.
