Official blurb

The Scottish side are currently top of Pool 4 with four victories from their four games to date, but Lyon and fellow French side Bordeaux-Begles remain firmly in the mix for a quarter-final place.

Victories over local rivals Glasgow and at Connacht mean Alan Solomons' team will travel to France full of confidence as they look to complete the task of securing qualification.

Scott credits their European form with helping to turn around a stuttering start to the season, and hopes Edinburgh can kick on over the final two pool weekends.

He said: "We have had some big results this season but never backed them up and that was what was pleasing about the Connacht game. We played very well in difficult conditions and we dominated the second half.

"This is a team that has grown over the last month. We have had injuries and players missing and we are moving in the right directions, but we need to keep it going.

"The European games gave us confidence early in the season with how we beat Bordeaux, and we beat Lyon here despite having a lot of injuries. These two results mean we can focus on doing a job in Europe and really push for qualification."
Lyon must beat Edinburgh or their last-eight aspirations will be over.

Match facts
- Edinburgh and Gloucester are the two clubs with a 100% win rate this season.
- Edinburgh have played three times in France in the Challenge Cup, winning two with both victories coming by a two-point margin.
- Jerome Porical has kicked more goals than any other player in the competition this season, missing just one of his 21 attempts.
- Edinburgh boast the best tackling success rate (89%) in the Challenge Cup this season.

Set piece falling apart in the last 10 didn't help.

Makes things clear for next week - win and we top the group, lose and we're probably out!

Aye - consistent if picky. I think the yellow was a mistake as the ball came from a Lyon players shoulder but it was blind side to the ref and I can totally understand why he gave it and Scott had been off his feet for a fraction of a second and given that the ref was very picky at ruck and maul its fair nough

Edinburgh 17
UBB 16
Lyon 14

Given Lyon have London Welsh next (5 points) it literally will be win or out!

Really is ridiculous we didn't manage to get a try bp against LW over either game.

That ref is the exact opposite of Nigel Owens extremely picky and wont make the game flow. Actually if every ref was like him we would have a more enjoyable product overall as teams would know they wont get away with any infringements.

Toolis and Bresler worked their arses off.
Just shows the gulf in class between starters and subs at the moment.

Amazing 2nd row pairing but it's only a matter of time before they get overplayed..

It's fair to say Solomons rotation policy (is there even one?) isn't the greatest. Given the physical approach adopted by Edinburgh, we will pay the price sooner or later, hope it's not next week.

Solomons has cited the two big games against Glasgow and connacht, plus the travel the last two weeks, as mitigating factors for Edinburgh losing - he should have mixed up the team then and used the squad!

Ridiculous that Solomons is blaming the schedule. It was obvious that rotation was required for this game, at least in some form, and we were always going to need to beat Bordeaux anyway. Stupid selection and once again pathetic excuse.

Just looking at the stats and Denton only made 2 tackles in 61 minutes. Has he become a bit of a powder puff?

He did well in many ways - just they didn't attacke where he was defending. Looked back to his best pretty much to me
