Official blurb
The Scottish side are currently top of Pool 4 with four victories from their four games to date, but Lyon and fellow French side Bordeaux-Begles remain firmly in the mix for a quarter-final place.
Victories over local rivals Glasgow and at Connacht mean Alan Solomons' team will travel to France full of confidence as they look to complete the task of securing qualification.
Scott credits their European form with helping to turn around a stuttering start to the season, and hopes Edinburgh can kick on over the final two pool weekends.
He said: "We have had some big results this season but never backed them up and that was what was pleasing about the Connacht game. We played very well in difficult conditions and we dominated the second half.
"This is a team that has grown over the last month. We have had injuries and players missing and we are moving in the right directions, but we need to keep it going.
"The European games gave us confidence early in the season with how we beat Bordeaux, and we beat Lyon here despite having a lot of injuries. These two results mean we can focus on doing a job in Europe and really push for qualification."
Lyon must beat Edinburgh or their last-eight aspirations will be over.
Match facts
- Edinburgh and Gloucester are the two clubs with a 100% win rate this season.

- Jerome Porical has kicked more goals than any other player in the competition this season, missing just one of his 21 attempts.
- Edinburgh boast the best tackling success rate (89%) in the Challenge Cup this season.

It's OK - I'm currently re-learning everything I forgot since I was 16, so I can get bits of what they're saying. Thankfully, however 'French' they are, it's never going to be Voltaire, so fairly straightforward.RDW_Scotland wrote:IanBru wrote:The commentary's great - pretty knowledgeable about Edinburgh, from what I can tell.

Oh my! I can't say that was a lovely try, even though I'd like to. What were the Lyon defence doing?!

That was literally like one of the tries you see at U16 level when the defence just cannot be arsed to track back.

The stream broke up a bit but they seemed to be jogging as Fife sailed past.
This could be an enormous score if they don't care

"Interesting" try... Thought Fife was offside but it was messy so meh. Will take it!
Edinburgh using the choke tackle pretty well. Lyon look dangerous in open play though

I think this game is actually a bit too open for Edinburgh. Time to go back to Solomons ball for a while!

Re: Lyon V Edinburgh
Edinburgh extremely physical in the contact area, scrum very solid. Fife try shouldn't have been awarded as he was a good 2-3 meters in front of the ball!
I think the 2 locks who are playing here are both better than Gilchrist which is not a dig at Gilcho but it shows how good they are.

He was off his feet but he did let go of the ball then it bounced of a Lyon player back on the MFLs side - so from where the ref was standing it did look like he played it back while off his feet. he ref is clearly going to be very tough on breakdown which I like. So long as he is consistent

I thought those kind of bad pass backs only happened in wendyball games...
At least they missed their conversion.

In the second half Edinburgh seemed to lose all their shape when attacking. Positives - great maul defense. negatives - lack of any penetration second half
Definitely a game Edinburgh could and should have won

Re: Lyon V Edinburgh
Game was lost when Ford and Denton came off, Edinburgh didn't have any ball carrier in the pack from here, very little impact from an openside sub and McKenzie.

Very disappointing result, however Toolis must surely be named in the Scotland 6N squad next week, he's the find of the season. He and Johnny Gray would be some all action lock pairing.

Re: Lyon V Edinburgh
It's annoying but Lyon were just about worth it for their offloading game.
We just had no control in the second half and just made too many silly mistakes.
Apologies for those of you who are maintaining the man crush, but Scott's yellow card really didn't help us.
No problems with the refereeing tonight - it was good enough.
