Not that I think somehow the tour is extremely strong. I remember writing a PM to Socal in late 2013 saying that the tour at the top is going to get weaker within the next few years, and a few years on I stand by that. If you don't believe me, Socal can vouch for me saying that.
But when I made the point that the level of play at the tour can fluctuate, it was dismissed as 'era talk' which is by default 'nonsensical'. I remember Bogbrush talking about how the ranking points all had up to the same thing every year.

It's so hypocritical on the one hand to say that the difficulty of the tour fluctuating is nonsensical in one circumstance, but then when it suits you to say exactly the opposite. I do think btw, that the tour is not as strong as it was half a decade or so ago.

Why are you directing this crap at me? I've never denied that the level of the tour fluctuates - it's a pretty obvious statement. I never get involved in these crappy era debates so you'd be better off directing those comments at someone who actually gets involved in those discussions.

I don't think I've seen Djokovic play so tentatively in years. He's not going for anything, just content to push the ball back in and wait for errors - which Stan is obliging with.

If can Stan find some consistency this match is his to lose.

Yeah, maybe it's just this matchup with Stan that makes him nervous, but he's definitely been way below par so far.

No way !!
He was all over the place against Dimitrov. He was extremely lucky Dimitrov kept randomly coming up with these horror service games (I think there were a few with multiple double faults), or he would been in big trouble in every set. In the rallies Djokovic was dealing with the slice really poorly. Dimitrov had a few set points to make it 2 sets all, but he blinked while Djokovic went to the net on some pretty risky approaches; and it only just about paid off.
Djokovic Federer was a lot different, Federer's forehand was a bit off but Djokovic did really well to control the baseline rallies. If not for Federer's great serving and super grit in the 4th set, it may not have even gone to 5 sets.

That's the sort of improvement Djokovic will need to make if he has to beat Murray.

I thought Dimitrov played exceptionally well in that semi final, and deserved at least a fifth set. Just because Djokovic didn't look great, doesn't mean he wasn't, Dimi was on flames that day
