11/1 on Wawrinka now. It's about right... but worth a punt.

Maybe it's just me, and with these things it normally is just me... but watching Wawrinka's backhand, it has a strong element of pimp slap to it

This is what I was saying to Slasher a few days ago, Djokovic looks solid but still not at his best.
If he finds top gear I see him winning the tournament, but he needs to find that gear. Either Stan red-lining, or Murray in this form; will be too much for him otherwise.

First set lost by Djokovic at AO 2015. Well done Wawrinka!
@Jahu... There is quite a bit of Tennis yet to be played.

Could they actually play a 4th 5 setter in their last 4 slam meetings?

Good set from Stan; hopefully he will calm down now and tennis quality will pick up. Overall, quite underwhelming tennis so far.

Bad miss from Stan the Man! SoCal, if you are watching, your man is pretty defensive now!

I'm not watching the match but all the online commentary seems to be saying that Djokovic is playing nervously, cautiously and below his best.
It's so painfully predictable for the later stages of a slam.
There was a time this would have annoyed me but I just feel resignation these days.

Think Stan just spooks Djokovic a little, HM. He isn't afraid of him, I don't think, but he is certainly weary.

Stan's game is good enough to make anyone wary.kingraf wrote:Think Stan just spooks Djokovic a little, HM. He isn't afraid of him, I don't think, but he is certainly weary.
It just frustrates me the frequency with which Djokovic faces these big challenges by playing cautiously.

From what I've seen so far, Djokovic looks pretty abysmal. Stan up till now playing not much better.
It just shows how much the tour has weakened over the last couple of years. Djokovic has reached the semi without playing anywhere near his best tennis, and he hadn't even dropped a set.

Broken to love?!
I am genuinely mystified how so many people view Novak as mentally tough.

Hmm, this gets on my nerves.emancipator wrote:

Not that I think somehow the tour is extremely strong. I remember writing a PM to Socal in late 2013 saying that the tour at the top is going to get weaker within the next few years, and a few years on I stand by that. If you don't believe me, Socal can vouch for me saying that.
But when I made the point that the level of play at the tour can fluctuate, it was dismissed as 'era talk' which is by default 'nonsensical'. I remember Bogbrush talking about how the ranking points all had up to the same thing every year.
It's so hypocritical on the one hand to say that the difficulty of the tour fluctuating is nonsensical in one circumstance, but then when it suits you to say exactly the opposite. I do think btw, that the tour is not as strong as it was half a decade or so ago.
