Re: Six Nations Combined XV
Odd team. Not surprising as it was picked by Steve James.
Based on this Ireland should easily get a slam. Unfortunately if you read James' column he has been saying the same thing for years. He usually predicts doom and gloom for England in the 6N and they are usually towards the top.
Silly article just written as clickbait.

Aye - Tommy Seymour should be in there as well really - but as an Ireland reject who came good in Scotland he ain't gonna get a chance with Steve James picking

I think the Scottish centres are rather underrated, though this could be a good opportunity to show their worth.

I really wish I could but Huget has always impressed me, apart from when a Bath player touched him, and North is a monster. Seymour would be next to me but the fact that we have so many Scottish players in the running is promising. I think even if we finish fifth, based on individuals and league position, we may have left the "bottom two" group that we occupy with Italy and are moving towards the big 4.

Did I pass out and wake up after the tournament finished?
How utterly, utterly pointless.

Re: Six Nations Combined XV
I am Thicky McThick at the best of times, but what are we actually doing here?
Are we listing players that have a history of playing well in the tournament? Or are we listing players who, on the basis of current form, are actually likely to play well this year? Or are we just listing players whom we think should be watched?
Parisse, for example, has been decidedly average for Stade this season - many of his teammates outshining him completely. No scrum half anyone has listed above has come close to playing as well as Rhys Webb has this season. Ford and Biggar are at least as likely on current form to play better than Sexton (who is still returning from injury).
I don't get it. But then again, I did attend here:

GC from the article I think they are selecting the players they presume will shine this six nations rather than form or past glories.

Williams, Halfpenny, Amos, Cuthbert is no worse than North. Even may has impressed me more this season and I didn't rate him at all last year but he really kicked on for England in the AIs as opposed to North who had a very poor series.

What you are referring to with North us that he has been told to look for more work, it's nothing new it's just encouraging him to add to his game. Apparently Alex King at Saints agrees with Gatland.
Though j think most would agree that North is still a bigger threat than all the other wingers you mentioned.

Re: Six Nations Combined XV
There is one player for me, who if England give him some game time will put in some cracking performances and that is Nick Easter.
If he is given space to run off the back of scrums like Morgan has had then he will make some big yards. He may not start games or may not last 80 minutes but will do some damage.

He posed little or no threat in the AIs Cuthbert has a better strike rate than North yet both have the same weaknesses so how can he be a bigger threat than Cuthbert at least.

He has been playing well for Saints. The AIs were a few months ago now...

Re: Six Nations Combined XV
Who knows? I'd have Hamish Watson in the 23 before him personally but Blake looks decent from his highlights reel (although don't they all). Very quick to his feet after making the tackle. Though I've seen what he does penalised a lot up in the NH so who can tell.

He will not get any space in the international game and he is painfully slow. A great club player but one whos downsides get shown up in the international game. Too many faster guys around. H ewill try his very best adn can do some good things but his lack of pace will be exposed

He is slow, but he will always make some yards and his hands are very good, making space for others. He isn't explosive in the same way as BV and Morgan especially, and that is a big reason why he is down the list, but he is smart. As we keep on pointing out he does lack pace but then that is probably the only thing he lacks.
Interesting the most recent interview suggests that one of the main reasons for him not being part of the team since Lancaster came on board was that they didnt think he (or any of the senior players dropped since that last world cup) would make it this far. But he has, and with Morgan injured he has a great chance to get back in the reckoning.

Re: Six Nations Combined XV
Like said I don't think he would last the 80 by any means but maybe give him 40 odd minutes and being told go out there bust a gut etc or coming off the bench with 10-15 minutes to go he could do some damage.

Re: Six Nations Combined XV
Interesting to see that England have arguably the strongest pack in the 6N, but no one has picked and Englishman outside of the front row.
Is the team made up only of those that are fit to play or from the squads? Otherwise Lawsbury should be somewhere there, possibly the most effective all-round combo in the 6N.
Morgan on AI form is a match for anyone as is May.
