Dunno actually. As I understand it, Cardiff Blues are looking to replace the bloke who left recently.

Seven players confirmed out:
Amorosino
Tuculet
Breeze
Paulo
Humberstone
Rees
A. Jones
We knew about all of these. I wasnt sure about Rees but now we know for certain. Was hoping a few more would be on the list when I saw the release. Hopefully a few more to follow.

Good that they're getting rid of the some of the dead weight.
What happened to Marc Breeze? He looked pretty good a couple of seasons ago

I heard recently on here about Rees, and today it was confirmed on the radio. If the rumours are true that he was behind the revolt against Hammett, then it's for the best that he leave. Those two Argentinians were very handy players though.
Who else are you hoping will leave?

Re: Cardiff Blues Season Thread 3 - Danny Wilson Appointed Head Coach
At the risk of turning this thread in to a war zone. What are the chances that Ponty have forced the issue to the point where the Blues will no longer allocate players to them and that they will drop them in to Merthyr? I'm always keen to stress that the region doesn't stop at Taffs Well so if we are looking for another team to expose players to game time it cannot be in Cardiff (Glam/Rumney). Issues that may arrise. Do Merthyr have an A Licence? Do we even have a good relationship with Merthyr?

No Merthyr do not have an A licence, but they meet the criteria for one, they just have not applied, and yes there is a good relationship between Merthyr and the Blues, but I think that Cardiff Blues would rather their players be playing in Welsh prem not Div 1.

Re: Cardiff Blues Season Thread 3 - Danny Wilson Appointed Head Coach
Merthyr are in the Championship so only one promotion away from the Prem. If the higher ups wanted to force the issue (i'm not saying they should, i'm just playing Devil's advocate) they could help them do that with a raft of young Blues academy players. Honestly all this tension between Ponty and the Blues is good for no one and the Blues are under represented in the Prem in my opinion. Cardiff and Ponty (who "hate" the Blues). We could benifit by helping another team within the region in to the top flight.

Sorry, I meant championship, the one down from the premiership if Merthyr were ever in a position for promotion, I reckon they would have no issue for an A license and if they were to get in the Premiership then the Blues could very well put players there instead of Ponty, but I just think that Ponty are a little bit further down the road with their set-up an coaching and the what not, I think they are a little more professional than Merthyr, but that could easily change.

That is a big upgrade in facilities. I'd like to see the Blues play a game or two up in Merthyr. It's a big town and we could be doing more to promote the region up there.

Jeez! Not even built yet and you want us to go walkabout. I guess BT would have to be consulted first. And the other organisations who have advertising boards at CAP. And....
Lots to consider when shifting games to a different venue.

The issues are after that. Bad place for a full stop. I understand that the facilities arent built but we could knock out a pre season game at the Cig-E stadium or w/e it's called.

Trolling me again Risca ? Cheers.
Also, I am not just saying this now, but everybody and their dog up here knew the Wern was going to be upgraded, I thought this other news that was mentioned was about something else. That is what I was going to ask before I committed to anything on here because I am fed up of being made to prove myself all the time.

From the pic of Dodger and the 3D model, the proposed development doesn't intrude on CAP.

Would it create an issue for the redevelopment of the Arms Park site if the rumours about a new stadium with flats, a hotel and casino are true? Would the council allow two similar developments in such close proximity?

I'd like for us to follow the WASP's model if we do redevelop. Earn as much from other avenues as possible and keep the ticket prices down. Also a new stadium would be nice. not that it'a not charming now.

Cardiff RFC (or Blues if you like) pay rent to the "running club" CAC for use of CAP and the proposed development for this site has nowt to do with the WRU proposal as far as I can tell. The latter only involves the area between the MS and Westgate Street.

ChumV can disappear in its entirety if you ask me. Ran its course imho. Need a new show. Maybe two. One for the pro teams and another for WRU and the rest. Pundits from outside the crazy Welsh bubble would be a refreshing change too I think. In fact anybody who will call a spade, a spade will do.
Glad to hear that DW is being interviewed. Not convinced however that Uncle Pete is the bloke we should have in captaining the ship. So much water under the bridge and now we have another property development thing going on.

Wales Onlines says we're monitoring the Matthew Morgan situation.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/cardiff-blues-monitor-matthew-morgan-9349414
Where does he fit in? I like him as an attacking fullback or even a wing. But we have two promising flyhalfs/fullbacks. We don't need a third. Maybe Danny Wilson brings him in if we sign him. Could that open the door to Ian Evans. We need a second row.

I have heard talk elsewhere that Ianto could follow Wilson to the Blues, which would suit him and you. But personally I think you would be throwing money down the drain going for Morgan, unless Patchell has said outright that he is off at the end of his contract (I have heard talk of a deal in principle being signed to join elsewhere end of the contract).

Re: Cardiff Blues Season Thread 3 - Danny Wilson Appointed Head Coach
All the talk that I have heard is that Patchell is going to end up at Scarlets when his contract is up, and who can blame him they way he is being treated to try and shoe horn in a substandard Kiwi come Welshman who has been given a DC.
I have watched both the final playoffs between Bristol and Worcester and in the first game in particular Nipper was the cause of the loss. His defending was non existant and players were just running through him, when Nicky Robinson came on Bristol looked a lot better. Yes Matthew Morgan is a delight to watch with the ball in hand, but when he has not got the ball he is a liability. For me Matthew Morgan is a luxury player, a nice player to bring on if you want a bonus point or something, unless he bulks up a bit, he will be nothing more than a good club player, to go that extra step, he needs to work very hard on his weaknesses.

Patchell will be off apparently.
I don't think it is a waste to bring in Morgan. At the moment the only 10s or FBs of any quality we have are Anscombe and Patchell. Patchell seems to spend most of the season injured as well.
Morgan would be a useful 1st/2nd choice fullback and 2nd/3rd choice Flyhalf. Pretty sure he would make the 23 every week even when everyone is fit.

Re: Cardiff Blues Season Thread 3 - Danny Wilson Appointed Head Coach
I agree Morgan is a luxury. I'd be very disapointed if we are losing Patchell. He's not had a fair crack at the whip so i can see why he'd like to leave. I just think we have more pressing concerns than flyhalf. Also if we have all of these young developing flyhalfs we need someone to help develop them. Shame Steven Jones is off to the Scarlets.
