Carl Frampton vs Chris Avalos
So this fight has been overshadowed, quite rightly, by Mayweather vs Pacquiao but we're only days away now. Who is everyone backing in this one?
Avalos was quieter than normal in todays press conference, and I wonder if his manager noticed that he was maybe a little nervous because his big brash American side came out, trying to get Frampton to bet some of his purse. Thought Framptons responses were superb and just embarrassed him.

Re: Carl Frampton vs Chris Avalos
Avalos is a textbook pressure fighter who is really dangerous when he gets in range and sits down on his punches. He also has underrated jab in my opinion which he uses to set up his power shots nicely although his chin hasnt been tested at the highest level.
Nah just kidding, never seen him box.
Frampton to win.

Frampton, mid to late stoppage. No idea why I think that as I haven't seen Avalos box (I don't think, i'm rubbish remembering)

Re: Carl Frampton vs Chris Avalos
Avalos is coming to win - I think he'll put in a career best performance. Had he been fighting Quigg, for example (and I'm not dogging Quigg who is a good fighter) I think I'd tip him to win.
Frampton looks special, though. Really looking forward to watching on council telly!

Avalos has certainly lost the mind games in the build up to this one.

Dunno, he's got his mum to spit chewing gum at Frampton during the weigh-in

Why use Buffer who is expensive when you can probably save money and get that Darts guy who did the Murray fight for ten bucks and a pint of lager !!
People are paying for the fight...........

How has Frampton won the mind games? Bit of gesturing, shoving match. Nothing in that.

That is definitely on my boxing pet hates, when everyone starts speculating on who is winning or losing the "mind games". Boxing fans ability to become expert pyschologists who specialise in body language never ceases to amaze me.

Re: Carl Frampton vs Chris Avalos
Not basing it solely on the weigh in, posted the video to the press conference and Avalos who is usually a mouthy fighter based on what I've seen on YouTube, was very quiet and timid. Couple that with today you can see why I've reached this conclusion.

Wasn't a dig Hampo, have not watched the build up particularly so can't comment on your accuracy or otherwise, but, as I am sure the Floyd Manny fight will prove, our willingness to analyse every little facial expression as being definitive proof as to the likely outcome does drive me insane.

mad isn't it. Frampton might be getting more than buffer but i doubt anyone else is.
Just a branding exercise. Buffer = big fight. So.......we've paid him a small fortune to prove to those of you who weren't sure that this really, really is a big fight. Honestly, very big.
If you were boxing on the card you'd think... Barry, just get a relative to sing danny boy, introduce us yourself and give me a share of buffer's purse.

Don't give this Carl Avalos a chance, he's not even on boxrec! In all honestly does he have a chance? I might watch the fight Hampo put up.

Buffer doesn't need the money, he's richer than Floyd!

Re: Carl Frampton vs Chris Avalos
Completely agree milky with Buffer=Big Fight.
Went to watch Amir Khan vs McCloskey, which to me wasn't a big fight.
Turned up at the MEN an Buffer was doing his catchphrase couldn't believe it.
That was more entertaining and exciting then the fight itself

Re: Carl Frampton vs Chris Avalos
I think this is going to be a comfortable points win for Frampton, unless he lands a hail mary punch (Marinez I) I don't see him stopping the top guys, good but not destructive power.

Re: Carl Frampton vs Chris Avalos
What the hell is Buffer doing here anyway, this doesn't have a big fight feel, easy win for Frampton, much more interested in Eubank Chudinov which to me looks a lot closer.
Isn't Buffer a bit overrated anyway? When he calls out the fighter's it often sounds a bit flat. Doesn't really build up the excitement, I've noticed that a lot lately.

Re: Carl Frampton vs Chris Avalos
Despite what I said earlier, I do like buffer... And whilst shaking your head at the craziness of it, you do have to give credit to anyone who can earn what he does and get ringside seats for all the big fights, all for reading out a few lines and a copywrited catchphrase. Hey, we'd all do it, given a chance, so fair play to him.

Don't forget a business empire worth about $400 million. He probably laughs the peasantry shown at Floyd Shobox specials.
