Amie Khan vs Chris Algieri
So it's now been confirmed that Amir will be fighting Pacquiaos left over chewed up steak in Chris Algieri....
Chris is well known mainly to his upset of Provodnikov and for also being absolutely dismantled by the Pacman.....
Is this a good fight for Khan? Will he get some stick? Can Chris pull off the upset??
On a side note, this will be an utter chess match....Khan wins via UD

Re: Amie Khan vs Chris Algieri
Can Chris pull of the upset? Yes, sure. Don't see how though. He isn't as bad as the Manny fight made it look. He was up against a top 40 ATG having a really good night. The result was a pasting. Khan isn't Manny. Might have the speed, but he doesn't have the spite in his punches. Still, search me for what exactly Algieri has to counter any decent fighter.

Khan beats Algeri easy by stoppage. Hate to say this but Khan could possibly beat Floyd and Manny now because of their age.
He won't fight anyone dangerous until he lands the big fight with Floyd/Manny. Pacquiao cherry picked his last few fights since his ko to secure a fight with Floyd.

Re: Amie Khan vs Chris Algieri
First of all I don't believe Khan ducked Brook - not enough time to make a superfight, brook would want about a 2 week rest atleast, and then you need to do press conferences and Interviews and train at the same time, 8 weeks isn't enough for that.
But damn Algieri...Rather see him fight a Broner, Alexander was better than Algieri, Algieri is a bum version of Khan, just maybe has inch on him in terms of height, Khan UD 118-110, maybe a late stoppage, Algieri isn't as bad as Manny made out, he did beat Ruslan, but Style wise, this is east Khan win for me...

... He's only had three fights since the KO. One of which was to the P4P #3. And offered Marquez a chance to go again.

Timothy Bradly can't punch and Manny only fought him to avenge a defeat that shouldn't of happened.
Just my opinion guys. Floyd has not always took on all comers either.
Honestly think Khan could beat both now.

So Amir Khan states Kell Brook should fight another top 10 welterweight to earn a fight with Khan, yet Khan then goes and decides to fight the #5 ranked super lightweight instead...Double standards

Didn't think he was a trash talker Boxing Fan? In the Pacman build up he seemed very relaxed and openly spoke about what he needs to do.
I don't think this is the best fight for Khans image at the moment but that could be down to great PR work from Brook and Hearn openly calling him out and offering a date and venue and setting a countdown etc.
Reminded me of the desperate Arum making a website for Floyd to sign a contract.
I'd rather have seen Khan fight a Bradley or Thurman but suppose Algieri will do according to him.

On a side note I think Algieri and Brook are similar names....both have 1 decent name on their records in Prov and Porter....but that's it....Brook has a big name in the UK because of Hearn.....but not in the states....soon as he fights a Thurman or someone then he will land the big pay days in the US like Khan

Brook wanted the Khan fight after he sorted out Jo Jo Dan. Khan decided to fight a guy who bounced off the canvas half a dozen times in his last fight...mobilemaster8 wrote:No one knew Jo Jo Dan before.....sorry....nobody knew him.

Pathetic from Khan
So he promised Al-JAMMY a fight and that is why he won't face Brook????
Surely he can see Brook is a bigger fight but he is a man of his word. Only thing is he could have made the fight easily and promise Al-JAMMY a shot at title.
CLEAR AND UTTER DUCK

Re: Amie Khan vs Chris Algieri
Quite simple in my book. It's a low-risk fight with the possibility of Khan doing a better job than Manny did on the guy and 'making a statement'. Khan's still chasing a fight with either FMJ or Pacquiao. Is it a duck? Not really IMO, but I think he thinks he's got just as good a chance of landing his dream fight by creaming Algieri as Brook; it's just that he's more likely to lose to one than the other. Namely Brook... so he chose Algieri. I think he thinks he'll beat Brook, but I think he knows he'll beat Algieri and achieve a similar outcome in terms of being next in line for either Floyd or Manny. Risk/reward.
I mean, I could be wrong. I'm pretty ignorant with regards to the numbers. In terms of £s, would he make more from the lesser share of a globally noticed fight against either the winner or loser of the upcoming super-fight or as an evens participant of a hotly anticipated domestic fight that only ripples interest internationally?

Re: Amie Khan vs Chris Algieri
I dont think Brook would be ready to fight in May anyway, and with Ramadhan coming up soon after I think he wants to get a fight in before that, but you've more or less got it spot on.
Re: Amie Khan vs Chris Algieri
Khan stoppage late rounds. Khan won't have to worry about being knocked out, so I think will be out to make a huge statement and expect a lot of fast hard combinations.
Honestly though, if he doesn't get Pac or May next, the guy needs to fight Brook or Thurman

Why fight Thurman for no title ????
If you are a contender you don't take on the best while waiting for a shot..
You save your best performance for a prize...Unless you get offered a huge payday...
He won't for Keith without an ABC..

Why the assumption that Khan will KO Algieri? PacMan dropped him 6 times but he still couldn't KO Algieri. Khan doesn't have anyway near the same power as PacMan.

Re: Amie Khan vs Chris Algieri
What went wrong with Khan wanting to fight Broner? On 1 hand it's a fight that will give him the chance to showboat and get him closer to a Pac/Floyd payday or this could be Amir accepting that he can't beat the very best so sticking with the B levels.

Khan is the type of guy who will wait until a talented boxer starts to grow old and fade down.. THEN he will make a plea for them to fight him when he has all the advantages. He never really wanted to fight Garcia imo.ONETWOFOREVER wrote:Pathetic from Khan

Re: Amie Khan vs Chris Algieri
This fight isn't that bad and will be watchable, as all Khan's fights are. I don't think it would be as one sided as if Khan had fought Broner. Khan wins though.
It'll be a battle of the jabs, which Khan will win, but it's better than watching Khan use Broner as a punchbag. Might be underestimating Broner but that's how I see it.
Khan and Brook will probably fight at the end of the year so no harm done. Hearn won't be happy as he needs a summer ppv but never mind. Perhaps he should call out Thurman now.

The Alexander fight is basically how I would see Khan v Broner go. Khan is just too fast, hand and foot, for Broner, in my opinion. At least Algieri throws movement into the mix, something I can't remember Khan having to contend with. Algieri may box on the back foot and I'd be interested to see how Khan copes with that.

Showtime have declined to air the Khan v Algieri fight. No surprise there.
Can only guess that Khan wants to maintain his un-beaten run to keep himself in the running for a Money/Pac fight.
Anyway you look at it Khan looks a right mug. No boxing fan here or across the pond gives a hoot about this fight.

Can't wait to hear Khan describe how this proves what a star and P4P fighter he is. Good to see him showing Brook how the big fighters roll.
Ducking Brook and Bradley in the hope that Mayweather calls him back. He's a bit of a laughing stock to be honest and I suspect Floyd knows it too.
Would be great if Algieri beat him.

You can understand that Bradley is a difficult fight for not a lot of money.
You can understand why when you're chasing the huge fight, you don't want to risk it.
You can understand, not taking the brook fight for big money, because it will likely always be there for pretty big money.
But. It's getting close to p*ss or get off the pot time for amir. Broner would have been perfect for the interim of keeping profile up, dollars in, very winnable. Algieri is just marking time.

Truth be told, I like Algieri. He's got a Renaissance Man quality in him which in boxing was reserved for only the Klitschkos. World Champion in two fighting disciplines, a masters, and a degree. He's like a real life Coxy. I bet he's a scratch golfer and can play Beethoven's ninth.

the difference being, the little voice in algieri's head (telling him he's the greatest) is his trainer's.

Just fell short is 6 knockdowns a and losing by 20 pts !! Disappointing matchup and the devil of Al Haymon strikes again.

Khan only fights the best, he never shirks a challenge, only has fought the who's who of fighter and is easily the best welterweight in the world
So lets fight someone who was battered around the ring by pacquiao and is feather fisted.......very very dangerous
Seriously this isnt a challenge at all, algieri is a half decent boxer but went down vs provo and 6 times vs pacquiao, he has very little power and doesnt really have anything to bother khan.
