Best Brit/ Irish wrestler
Who is the best British (and Irish) guy in wrestling currently?
Quite simple really.
Who do you think is the best British/ Irish wrestler currently? Who could you see holding the top strap in their respective companies and being legit main event material?

I think it is Balor by some distance.
Honourable mention to Becky Lynch.

My top three are Sheamus, Neville and Lynch. Balor's a top worker, but has no distinguishable character in NXT. The most interesting thing about him is his entrance as the demon.

Can I just be a pedant and point out that DH Smith is Canadian born and bred
Top 3
3) I really like Balor, I think he's getting a raw deal from some people, but I can admit he hasn't quite brought over all the things that made him so special in Japan, I think it's weird to say that his wrestling hasn't been quite as good as generally he's been good (with one excellent match v Neville) but he hasn't quite hit the top form where I considered him one of the top wrestlers in the world, I also think his promos, while again not bad, still haven't been as good as they were in Japan, I think turning heel could help as he has a really dry wit that I couldn't get enough of when he was with the bullet club, plus as much as I like the body paint that headdress is horrendous, gets in my top 3 as he's still one of my favorites but I don't think he's firing on all cylinders yet on any category
2) Zack Sabre Jr is one of my favorites to watch in the ring, a unique mix of old school WoS style grappling and Japanese style striking, there isn't a more compelling technical worker to watch imo
1) For me Rockstar Spud has been sensational as of late, his mic work has been quality and despite the small sample size TNA has given us I've generally enjoyed all the stuff he's done, particularly the EC3 match that is still one of my top 10 matches of the year so far, Spud is one of the top 3 reasons to watch TNA atm and I hope they do more with him before they go down the tubes

I was including Balor's previous work when I considered this. I agree with House's comments re: his work as a heel. We'll see how he progresses, I still think his upside is considerable.
Zack Sabre is a worthy mention. A think as a youngster with potential Will Ospreay is worth a mention. I kind of wish that NXT would fish a little more in this pond of wrestlers who have 3-5 years of experience, they mostly seem to be either with those who've worked in Indies for years now, or pretty much completely green wrestlers starting from scratch. I guess the idea is that they don't want wrestlers with bad habits and would rather start from a blank canvas, but given the time it takes to train a wrestler I do wonder if they should be short cutting a bit more.

I strongly suspect that had Itami not gotten injured Balor would be on the path to turning heel now. Seeing as he's getting his title shot in Japan, I'm guessing Hideo was pencilled in for that slot.

I remembered the Progress Wrestling put one of their shows up on YouTube for free. There's a Devitt (Balor) vs Zack Sabre Jr match about 1hr30 into it.

Much as I love Spud (a great character with bags of personality and also a very capable wrestler for his size) if TNA put the heavyweight title on him over Angle, it would be an absolute travesty.
Funny thing is, I think he is probably the best Brit I've seen, but I just can't see him as a heavyweight champion. X Division certainly.
Magnus - already been there and done it. Good wrestler, if not exceptional. Also a bit lacking in the character department IMO. Oddly, I think Bram would make a great heel champ. Not a brilliant wrestler...more of a big brute. But he is suitably evil and psychotic.
Some of the other Boot Camp guys like Noam Dar look like brilliant technically good wrestlers. Probably just need to work on their characters.
Also, whoever mentioned Grado...
Nice guy, great character...but he's like a comedy Samoa Joe. He'd probably be very popular with audiences, but I think he'd be about as credible as Spud as a heavyweight champion.
