Some decent championship signings made today

Brentford splashing some dosh
Leeds signing Chris wood
Reading signing Paul McShane
Forest signing Jamie Ward (keeping up the tradition of signing a billion strikers pre season)
Birmingham signing Polish Tom

Doncaster have won footballing banter of the week.

They mocked Middlesborough's Yellow Away kit (compared it to a yellow highlighter)
Boro fans mocked them with a picture of Where's Wally
Donny shot back with A picture of Where's Wally infront of Norwich celebrating promotion

Looks like Vossen's signing for Burnley for 2.5mill decent signing, we didn't fancy the permanent deal by all accounts, more fool us.

Yellow away shirt, which clown or clowns are responsible for that, they should be horse whipped, awful wouldn't have it given.

Nice to see Downing back. I just hope he can be a bit more consistent and influential than before...especially given what we paid (£5.5m rising to £7m if we go up, as I understand it).

Don't think our first team needs much tinkering with. Could do with better depth in the squad, given our inevitable injury problems.

Agreed - its horrible! Makes us look like Watford...not that I've got anything against Watford, but it just doesn't look like a Boro kit. Maybe we'll use it for evening / night games so players can spot their team mates more easily. Laugh

If only Ipswich had done the right thing and sold Murphy and McGoldrick so they could add much needed depth and quality to the squad they'd be major contenders.

Unfortunately they haven't so will finish 9th

Lee Tomlin to Bournemouth for £3mill, good luck to Lee, very inconsistent player, when he's good he's good and other times you wouldn't know he was on the pitch, not too upset by the sale, hard to see how he gets in our 11 now Downings back.

Boro have bid £12mill for Jordan Rhodes, the player has told Blackburn he wants to speak with the club.

Doubled our money on Tomlin in 18months not bad business, scored 10 goals in 50 starts, don't think he's Premiership quality, never know, Howe might be able to get a bit more out of him, I rate Howe.

I'd love to know where we've suddenly got all this money from, given it was only a few seasons ago we were having to cut the squad down to bare bones.

Maybe Bulkhaul and Rockliffe Park are doing really well at the moment? Ramsdens decided to be more generous with their sponsorship?

Even so, the £12m bid for Rhodes is the kind of thing we were doing in the Premier League. If we get him I won't complain...I just hope he doesn't turn out to be another Alves...

Yep lot of dosh, but Rhodes record in the championship is proven, hope we have a few more irons in the fire if this fails, and not putting all our eggs in one basket.

Buzzing for this campaign if we can get Rhodes; if we don't I have serious concerns as to where the goals will come from. Adomah up front looks like it's worth a shot to begin with..

As for the money chaps, word around the campfire is that Gibson is willing to give it one last roll of the dice in his attempt to put us back in the Premiership right in line with the TV increase. I have heard he is bankrolling the clubs losses personally to the tune of almost one million a month (I believe this is a preference to his company/other ventures i.e. Rockliffe & Bulkhaul taking on the losses). If this is indeed the case then promotion sounds like an absolute must or bust!

Karanka signs new 4year deal at Boro, brilliant news.

Boro linked with move for Dwight Gayle £10mill asking price, Rhodes still in the frame though.
Stuani described by those in Spain and Uruguay as a goal poacher who is excellent in the air, hope they're right,15 goals in 17 starts for Espanyol last season pretty impressive.
