Awful game. Both teams very poor; little cohesion or fluidity on show.
Passing by both was incredibly sub-standard. Lua-lua the only half decent player on the pitch - yes I'm stretching the definition! - and he did net a beautifully precise finish.
Both teams could be in for a long season, on that evidence. Depressing to see so many empty seats for the opening game.
Why did Sky pick this game?

Basically, before the game everyone was all "yeah, football is back!"
And now we're all "is it May yet?"
Well done Brighton and Forest you shíthouses

Too early to tell about Forest, but one thing is for sure we were outstanding tonight. Well deserved win.
Antonio needs to stop crying every minute, Eric Lijah really is a dirty player and Lansbury is incredibly overrated.
SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAGULLLLLSSSSSS
"Outstanding" - stretching the realms of reality there. You scored from a cross that went wrong and then had one other chance.

This football league show seems pretty poor.
Channel 5 means ads. 9pm is a good time.
Fans in the studio, not a fan.
already i think i prefer last seasons.
Although on the plus side, no Claridge.

73% of Boro fans think £4mill is an over inflated price, Nugent hasn't agreed to anything yet either so early days.Nico the gman wrote:I think he's short of premiership class, but think he'll bang a few in in the championship, made he's mark in the lower divisions.GSC wrote:Hope you win a lot of penalties

Re: 2015-16 Championship Thread
Would be an OK signing but nothing more....he has a decent enough record in the Championship and will score goals....assuming he gets service which isn't a given if Sunday's performance is anything to go by...but £4 million is a tad too high (although saying that, the market is crazy atm)...
For me there are just better alternatives which, even with a half decent campaign of 15 goals, would see us potentially get a return on our investment should we not go up. Nugent isn't going to give us that. Andre Gray (7 million asking price) and Rhodes (12-14 million) would.
I just hope that should we sign Nugent that's it for strikers because I think Stuani and Kike will chip in with less than 10; we need a 20+ goal striker and Nugent isn't it despite his record.

Re: 2015-16 Championship Thread
Yep agree, we need a 20+ goal a season striker, personally would go for Gayle at Palace, young, lightning quick, scores goals, would be a nightmare for any defence in the championship, £10 mill asking price, don't think Rhodes is coming. Had time now to think long and hard about Nugent, I'm not too sure, might be OK if it was Nugent and another, jury's out on Kike, fingers crossed Stuani can do it.owen10ozzy wrote:Would be an OK signing but nothing more....he has a decent enough record in the Championship and will score goals....assuming he gets service which isn't a given if Sunday's performance is anything to go by...but £4 million is a tad too high (although saying that, the market is crazy atm)...

After Sundays performance surely our manager must realise Reach offers very little, creates nothing, it follows on from last season, we're playing with 10 men with him on the pitch, had Carayol sat on the bench, and Forshaw for 87 minutes, Karanka fan, but poor tactics really.

Well he's not a name that really excites, is he? I think we've brought plenty of Nugent-standard strikers in and not seen much of a return on our investment.
I think I'd rather we paid around £10m for a Bamford-type player and at least be fairly certain he'll play regularly and get us a decent amount of goals. Better than a budget buy who'll likely end up warming the bench for most of the season.
As I said on my Boro thread, I think our biggest problem is our attacking play. We need to work out a way of getting the ball to our strikers in good positions. Thats something we seem to struggle with a lot.
One wag on the Oneboro forum commented we could have had David Silva up front and he wouldn't have had a sniff either, so bad was the service.

Wow - what a match against Bolton.
Corker of an opener from Fabbrini and fantastic work to set up Kike for the other two. Fully deserved his MOTM award. 3-0 up at half time, we really should have had 4, 5 or even 6. Shame we couldn't add to the score...though it wasn't for lack of trying.
We played well, but Bolton made us look even better. Defensively shambolic.
We're gonna have much tougher games - be interesting to see how we cope.
@GSC: our ref James Adcock made some very strange decisions too.

I miss Britt. Blackstock just doesn't threaten and Walker cant be expected to shoulder the responsibility on his own.
Plenty in the performance to suggest there's a good crop coming the academy.
