OWGR-August 2015
First topic message reminder :
I think it is time for an update and new thread. The OWGR Top 100 should all be invited to play the PGA Championship tomorrow.
Nice playing from Troy Merritt for winning the Quicken Loans to get an 11th invite to B-Stone. Also Marc Warren got a 11th hour invite for his 4th place finish in Scotland.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat did not get an invite for winning the Paul Lawrie Match Play but is 14th in the Int'l Prez Cup standings.
This is what the top 100 should look like tomorrow morning

BTW, Smylie is his given name.
He was named after his grandfather's cousin who was an ALL american football player at my Alma Mater, Ga Tech.

Who did Lucky play for . . . . ?
PS: Great win against Free Shoes Uni.
GPB,
I had a go on my Vegas thread at identifying absentees from the WGC-HSBC. Are you aware of any others?

Saw them, think you are missing Kuchar.
The only way IJP gets in now is if the two of the committed top 50 players have a personal reason. They committed because they want to play.
Chances are pretty slim that IJP gets an 11th hour invite.
Looks like Koepka is giving up ET membership. Not surprising. There is really nothing that the ET can offer that he can't get on the US PGATour.
Rose-y won $333,000 for winning the Hong Kong open. Yesterday 7 players earned more than in Vegas.

Re: OWGR-August 2015
Wow. Quite a disparity in earnings there.
Koepka decision seemed inevitable to me. He's good, but not McIlroy or Rose good.
Just saw that housing development course in Surrey is trying to weed out the locals with a new fee structure. Wonder what Ernie thinks. As Peter Alliss commented, what’s the point of running one of the best restaurants in town if you only serve ten dinners a week?

Is an ALL american football player more impressive than just a plain all american? Is it all in the CAPITALS? Inquiring minds need to now

T.Woods played R.Sterne in Presidents Cup singles two years ago.
Now Sterne is #350 in the owgr rankings and Woods #351.

But obviously not defending his 2014 title in Turkey is a bit surprising

Re: OWGR-August 2015
Turkey worth 44 pts to the winner, CIMB is worth 46 pts.
Rory is about 60 pts behind Day/Spieth, so he will be #3 no matter how he does this week.
Stenson will be #4 if he wins CIMB.

Poulter tweeting he is in HSBC Championship. I'll see if I can find out how. Obvious answer is that people have withdrawn.

Found it, Poulter was 6th reserve; Coetzee is injured and apparently Snedeker has withdrawn. 4 higher reserves were needed to make the field.

Pretty sure a top 10 will be enough. Maybe a top 14

Re: OWGR-August 2015
Just did the math, Spieth needs a solo 13th to reclaim the #1 spot, but that would only be temporary he would lose it the following week.
Needs a top 4 to get a firm grasp on the #1 ranking that won't be vulnerable to attrition anytime soon.
Rory needs a top 3 in Turkey to have a chance at reclaiming the #1 spot next week.
