I used to live in Bedford and went to Chippenham for the Playoff semi in 2004, lost on pens, and in 2005 we had to go to Bath away in the semi then the next week Chippenham away in the final, beat them 3-2.
Talk about long trips.
Also hate going to Hitchin, the ground could spontaneously ignite on a hot day
Re: 2011-12 Zamaretto League line-ups
the worst place i ever went was mertyr before they got went bust.
such a long trip and it so wasn't worth it. rubbish food rubbish football and their fans were so annoying with their welsh accent trying to sing songs was hilarious like a little welsh choir club.

Who's your club fernando?
I'm a Leamington fan now, went to a few games in the MFA days, but still keep up with Bedford.

I might have to this season. I went to the Leamington vs Chesham game at the start of the season, Leam won 3-2, very entertaining match.

Re: 2011-12 Zamaretto League line-ups
One of the reasons I don't miss Bedford is the lack of decent football, they went up in 2006 came straight back down and all the best players left for bigger clubs, i.e. Cambridge City and United, and Kettering.
Rene Howe ended up Peterborough and has been scoring goals on loan at Morecambe, Rushden and now Bristol Rovers.
Even in 2008 they were relegated to Division One but were saved by Nuneaton folding.

Re: 2011-12 Zamaretto League line-ups
we've managed to keep alot of our decent players.
our main forward joined weston super mare in jan ( due to a incident with a fan) then left cos didnt get played and is now at slough town
last 2 players that have properly made it since leaving chesham are d.j campbell and fitz hall

I am from Banbury and would like to re-assure all you guys that we will, as usual, offer no threat at the top end of the table whatsoever.
And if you ever have the misfortune to visit the Spencer Stadium then don't forget to bring your wellies. Even in August.

The Scottish Non League in my area is awful, to get decent non league stuff in Scotland you need to live in the central belt!
How competitive is the standard you guys are watching?

Re: 2011-12 Zamaretto League line-ups
Well I have seen Banbury a few times and to be honest it's slightly better than a good standard of Saturday afternoon football.
I remember a few years ago seeing our 'star striker' drunk in a local night club at 2am on the day of a match surrounded by half a dozen tarts!

Re: 2011-12 Zamaretto League line-ups
Rugby Town and Bedworth United both appear to have been moved back into the Southern League Central division.

Hitchin Town are my local team - so I have a fleeting interest.

Rushden have been placed in the Premier Division while they sort out what needs doing following expullsion from the Conference.
Re: 2011-12 Zamaretto League line-ups
It's quite funny that my local teams Rugby and Bedworth were moved from the Zamaretto League to the Evo-Stick League and despite being moved back and because of a league sponsorship deal will still be playing in an Evo-Stick League.
(Evo-Stick have taken over from Zamaretto and now the Southern and Northern league both have the same sponsor).

Re: 2011-12 Zamaretto League line-ups
Fernando-how come Danny Burnell has ended up at Slough? Is there no way for him to come back to Chesham? I know he went to Farnborough and had trials at Wycombe and Crewe that didn't work out. Scored a hatful for you lot. I went to school with him and played against him. He's a cocky so-and-so but I guess he has a bit of talent so fair play to him I suppose.
I'm a Wycombe fan but I live near Chalfont so might catch a few of their games, especially the local derbies.

Nando-apologies for two posts in quick succession. I've just had a closer look at the thread. I presume Burnell is the player who went to Weston-Super-Mare because of the 'fan incident'!?

Re: 2011-12 Zamaretto League line-ups
yeah that him, he's a bit temperamental otherwise he a very good player, he decided it would be a good idea to square up to the fans which ended up with him leaving.

Re: 2011-12 Zamaretto League line-ups
I didn't know so many people here actually follow their home town teams, It's quite refreshing to hear really.
My hometown is Northwich Victoria. You most likely would have heard what's going on this week as it's been in the press. I try and watch them whenever I have a free day on a Saturday, I'd say at best I was a part time fan of my hometown club.
Fernando, Do you have any ex-football league players in your sqaud. It's pleasing to hear that you try and pass the ball on the floor. Most non-league teams can't put 3 passes together and just aim for the strikers. Vics have played some very good football this season with a very young team. It's just a shame that this week will proberly cost us the season after such a promising first half to the season.
