It totally is.cakeordeath wrote:George Carlin wrote:Surely it's just the 'P' in 'Pooper'?cakeordeath wrote:RuggerRadge2611 wrote:cakeordeath wrote:RuggerRadge2611 wrote:Scotland can win this game. I don't think they will though. Funnily enough our best chance is a loose game IMO. If it's a forward battle I think we'll be in a lot of trouble. The Ozzie scrum looks strong and we don't have good enough breakdown operators to challenge POOPER.
Keep the ball alive as much as possible during the attack and hold up as many players as possible and we could be competitive.
Wales showed how to stop them well enough though. If we can emulate their defensive structure we could perhaps hold them at bay and funnily enough I think we have a bit more creativity in the backs than that Welsh side.
The backrow is a difficult one for me. I'm not sure trying to compete with POOPER at the breakdown is the way to go. Might just be best to say, here you win the ball on the deck contest and try something else.
You make a good point, Aus might be missing the Poo in Pooper is there is a citing, but unlike Scotland they have some strength in depth
Yours,
Lynne Truss
I found poo funnier.

Australia will have star man David Pocock available for their quarter-final with Scotland after he wasn't cited for a knee to Wales hooker Scott Baldwin.
Pocock was caught on camera dropping a knee into the chest of Baldwin, who was lying on the ground and had been holding onto Pocock's leg to prevent him from leaving the ruck.
Neither the officials or the TMO spotted the incident but there were calls on social media for Pocock to be cited for dangerous play.
However with the 36-hour window following the Test for citings to be made having now closed, Pocock will be free to play.
Pocock was forced off with a calf injury in the second half of Saturday's 15-6 win over Wales at Twickenham but should be fit for this weekend.
Erm, wtf???? Fair to say if Pocock was Samoan he'd be twiddling his thumbs for the next couple of weeks
That is shocking - truly shocking
No wonder the smaller teams get fed up -

We’ll need to be careful not to combine Hardon with Pooper, although some people like that kind of thing!

Pocock received a Citing Commisioners Warning - ie a retrospective YC.
Jonny Gray and Ross Ford however have been cited.

However Johnny Gray and Ross Ford are not dirty players and I can only hope that stands them in good stead. Apparently it was for a dangerous tackle.
Despite the Samoan's tackling round the neck and throwing forearms I feel we might be getting mugged off a bit here...
Still staggered that Pockock got away with that kneeing another player.
No mention of that Right hook SOB threw at Pape either?

Don't think I've ever experienced anything so pathetic.
Australian official cites 2 Scotland players just before the 1/4 finals.
What an utter end of the bell.

Likewise. Admittedly I was sitting about 100 miles away from the action in the gods at SJP, but still...

ahhh well, shall have a flick through the game. In the mean time I'm going to jump on twitter and call Brett Gosper a jock hating racist, maybe send him a photo of some KKK members as well...
Re: QF4: Australia v Scotland, 18 October
Fearing the worst, if they both get banned it really will create a sense of injustice in the squad, which will only help their mentality for Sunday I suppose.
Losing Ford wouldn't be a complete disaster - Brown has been pretty good, although I'm not overly confident about Bryce's impact off the bench.
Losing Jonny would be catastrophic though - Swinson is a big step down in quality, and it would mean Denton, Struass or Wilson covering 2nd row.
Grim.

ESPN were alluding to this 'blueprint' that stops the wallabies. Yes it's the rush defence and choke tackle. Stop them from scoring tries and you're chances of beating them increase tenfold. I think Scotland have the personnel to do that. But it will take a lot more than that to win and I'm not so sure Scotland have the capabilities to do so against this Wallabies team.

I disagree Mikey, I think Scotland have a bit more flair and guile than the current Welsh crop, but I would bet my mortgage that the Welsh and English defense for that matter is much better organised and robust than Scotland's.
We will hemorrhage tries to that Ozzie team.

If they can score against 13 men then yes they certainly do!
If Scotland can emulate the 'blueprint' then who knows? It should also be noted that Aus have a good defence themselves, so scoring a try past them is also difficult. Three tries held up when you're down a player or two should be highly commended!

Not great. If anything though Ford went in for a standard clearout and Gray did the leg lifting, so Ford not at fault - Gray in trouble?

It doesn't look good off that, but vines etc aren't that clear cut.
I didn't get to watch much of the game, but did the tmo even mention foul play, or anything?

Re: QF4: Australia v Scotland, 18 October
Also, both players probably weren't aware of each other's individual actions - would it have been so bad if Gray had lifted the leg at without Ford being there? That is a fairly standard ruck clear out.
The combination of both made it bad, but by the look of it neither knew what the other was doing...
Going to be interesting to see what comes out of this!

The combination of both made it bad, but by the look of it neither knew what the other was doing...
Going to be interesting to see what comes out of this!
We don't have a good record of doing well with the disciplinary panel, if only JG had kneed him on the way down we would be ok.

One thing that sometimes is taken into account is the person was always in contact with the ground - so no 'lifting and dropping'

Re: QF4: Australia v Scotland, 18 October
Well putting my Scottish legal team head on it:
- Neither player could possible have been aware of what the other was doing
- Both individual actions weren't outwith the realms of a standard ruck clear out
- It was an unfortunate coincidence that both things happened at the same time
- Neither player deliberate intended for that to happen - there was no malice in their actions
Easy...

Supporters of Tier 2 teams will lose their sh1t is they get away without a ban. Simply put we are doomed.

Well if Pocock can appear to deliberately and intentionally knee a player on the ground and get away with it I'm sure we'll be fine...!
