He's letting Ross get away with getting mullered and folding in at every scrum. Ross is going in and down to avoid going backwards. Ireland fortunate in that regard.

Just gotta get 3 points before half-time, make it a one score game and we're hanging in there.

I suppose this is one way to lose the 'favourite' tags the Irish hate so much. Have a poor start but stay within touch. Come out in the second half as underdogs and rip into them. Cunning.

What an absolutely poor first half from Ireland. Schmidt has a lot of work to do here. Dave Kearney and Henry have not had very good games so far.

If Carlsberg did world cup quarter finals
Argentina set a blistering pace in the first 20 minutes, and tore us apart. Looks like that has taken it out of them though, with Ireland slowly edging into the game. Don't know if it will be enough though.

Re: QF3: Ireland v Argentina, 18 October
Before the game started i thought Ireland would be in the lead at half time, and not the other way around.
Ireland have a lot of work to do in the second half, to catch up and win try to the game.

A lethal combination. We need a score here.
I would say its more the sped of clearout and the speed of decision making / passing by the argentines that make it look slow

Ireland have given Argentina space, the most sought after thing in rugby. You can't stand off at this level and win.

Just a polite word to Ireland - you cannot start very slowly, concede a bucketload of tries and then spend the rest of the game trying to claw it back.
That's OUR move.

Re: QF3: Ireland v Argentina, 18 October
The quality of rugby has been pretty excellent this world cup. It's gone up another level in some games.
At the time when Herrera was off, thought Ireland would take a scrum in front of the posts rather than going for the 3 points. I just think they had them a little on the back foot at the time... needed a couple of more phases with the ball in hand to test them. 20-7 would have been a better result than 20-3. It was still around the 20 min mark only... with a large deficit to close.

Yeah it was completely moronic and could be very costly. Still 10points ahead but I can see Ireland coming out strong.

Good comeback, but I still don't understand why Ireland are standing off? Giving the runners too much space and options.

Didn't look as bad on second viewing but it's a yellow for me.
If he hadn't already been binned there's no way he gets away without a yellow.

Referee bottled it. If he wasn't already on a yellow, he would have DEFINITELY been sin binned. Garces has absolutely bottled it.
