I can't believe what I'm seeing. We're giving Argentina the freedom of the wings- exactly where they are most dangerous.

What a start by the Argentinos. Is this difference playing regular games against decent opposition gives you?

Two tries, two major defensive errors by Dave Kearney. All while Andy Trimble sits at home wasting away.

I've said for years in Rugby Championship threads that Argentina have crazy skills. Don't matter where on the park they can hurt you

Dave Kearney has picked the worst possible moment to stop his recent excellent form.

WTF was Dave Kearney doing for that first score?
Kiss will remove his arm and hit him with it.

Re: QF3: Ireland v Argentina, 18 October
Now Ireland are playing in a world cup quarter final with Dave Kearney and Luke Fitzgerald on the wings, despite the fact that there are two genuine international class wingers outside of the matchday squad. Schmidt's selection is all coming apart.

Re: QF3: Ireland v Argentina, 18 October
Lot of people criticising Dave Kearney but its the inside defenders not getting across the pitch quickly enough thats leaving him exposed and ensuring our shape is too narrow.

Has any team ever overcome a 17 point deficit in knockout match?

As the ABs showed France are poor so Ireland have not faced a decent team and may be under cooked.

Re: QF3: Ireland v Argentina, 18 October
Argentina is a total rugby team too. One of the best forward packs running around and lethal backs. They are not short on finishing skills that's for sure.
Still think Ireland can bite back. Just need to get the ball and start to ask questions of the Argie defence.

Re: QF3: Ireland v Argentina, 18 October
In all honesty, this proves how big a loss that POM is. He is one of the prime defenders in the outer channels, which is why his tackle count is usually lower but he is key to our wider defensive channels. He is also so important at preventing quick ball.
Argentina are being allowed to run riot here.

Re: QF3: Ireland v Argentina, 18 October
We're narrow and we're passive. No line speed, allowing their inside backs to have loads of time to make decisions and pick their passes. No width in defence, leaving Argentina with 2 on 1s when they go wide.
A lethal combination. We need a score here.

You know what? We need to join the Rugby Championship. There's no way playing Six Nations rugby can ever prepare you to face this. Either we find a way to play with the big boys or we will be left in Tier 2 while they motor away in Tier 1.

Ireland really stupid to keep trying to play through the advantage given our lineout is our best attacking weapon. Take the penalty and the territory!
