Seems to have gone unmentioned so I will mention it.

Selby fought and won last night against Fernando Montiel UD 116-112 118-110 119-109. Saw highlights of the fight and Selby was never troubled and never really seemed to step out of 2nd gear.

Also on the undercard Devon Alexander lost a 10 rounder to Aaron Martinez (who had lost 3 out of last 4 to Guerrero, Joesito Lopez and Jessie Vargas)

Alexander has now lost 3 out of last 4, so where now for the Junior Witter & Lee Purdy conqueror.

Selby is classy.

From a technical view, he is the best in Britain. Good slick boxer.

Selby didn't look good last night, he never got to grips with Montiel's style. Was much closer than the scorecards suggest. Great learning fight however.

Out of Lomachenko, Russell jr and Santa Cruz, I'd go after Leo. No easy fights in this division though for anyone wanting to prove they're top dog.

I just hope they all find a way to get it on and it doesn't become like the super bantamweight division where nobody would fight each other. When you get a good division with lots of talent, it seems like a bit of a waste when they don't get it on. Win, lose or draw, fans do appeciate the fighters who show a willingness to fight their main rivals, and I think Selby doesn't lack for ambition. Nice to see he wants to get stuck in and pass up the easy defences.

Liked Selby's post fight interview, brutally honest about his own performance which he was no at all happy with.

Haven't had a chance to see the fight yet.

I don't rate selby as highly as some on here, and montiel hasn;t been fighting at the top level for a few years now, but well done to him for grinding out the result.

Alexander looks finished now, totally outboxed by khan, out hustled and strong-armed by a hard-working gatekeeper type yesterday. If he can't cope with either type any more, it leaves his matchmaking opportunities limited!

Selby was definitely not classy last night. He was gigantic compared to Montiel as well so just a name on his CV much like Khan's win over Barrera.

Hope he has a big fight next but good luck to him.

Selby's next big fight will be Warrington in Leeds I'd imagine. I read that Selby got hit a lot last night. I thought he looked hittable against Gradovich also (not that you'd have know it from the commentary).

I think that's a lot better fight than many are predicting.

He's clearly a tidy boxer, but for all he was landing 3 for every 1 he took against gradovich, I too recall that he shipped enough leather for it to be a concern if in against someone who can do some damage.

I'd agree the warrington fight is closer than many think. It's going the distance, so its down to whether the better skilled fighter can match the other's workrate. I suspect he can and will, but I doubt its easy.

I think both will take a couple more fights before they meet but I imagine Hearn sees this as his next big fight.

I'd forgotten about Warrington, although I haven't seen him that sounds like a good domestic.

You'd hope it would be Warrington next and if he wins that then Santa Cruz after.

That will never happen due to one being with Hearn and one being with Warren

Smith has yet to make featherweight. Warrington is looking for a world-rated name next as he looks to develop further before facing Selby.
