That's not where Denton excels. At Bath he'll have Garvey doing the hard yards and big tackles and Denton can get out and go rampaging in the loose like he did in the RWC for Scotland.
It looked like they were playing a more expansive game than that last night, very un Leicester like! It worked well though!

Ha yes it's a very different Tigers outfit this season. Williams and McCaffery playing right and left with O'Connor allowed to roam. Very different back row lay out. The set pieces are starting to improve as well. Looking forward to seeing where he's improvements lead.
Still think he's better suited to Bath and made the right call for himself and us.

Toomua now apprently signed a 3 year deal with Tigers not Wasps.
Who knows what is going on.
BUT HOW DARE PEOPLE MIX US UP WITH THE PESTS EITHER WAY.

Sounds better Welly. We need that second marquee to partner Manu next season after JDV. Having said that Smith has been in exceptional form when at 12 in the Mauger systems. He's learnt to pass and offload, he certainly never lost the ability to tackle all game and carry hard.

For me Williams passing has improved so much he was throwing some great miss passes Friday night.
Would have him ahead of burns ATM.

Is that Toomua the Oz centre/fly half? Because I rate him really highly and that's a great signing if so.

Good signing, more like it from Leicester. Very early to confirm a signing.

Funnily enough I feel that Williams passing, admittedly only from a live viewing, was really rather poor. His long passes seemed to always stop the recipient in their tracks while his short passing had no sympathy for the receiver whatsoever.
For me Burns was far superior in the warm-ups.

I'm a massive fan of Williams, and I think he is really classy and will be capped. But I'd love to see Burns playing with a gameplan like friday nights.

I see Morris heading back to Ireland soon. Injuries and the reliability of Tait will limit his chances and with TV able to play there as well as several of the academy lads those deals from Leinster will start to look tempting. From a Tigers point if view the young lads we have coming through must be nurtured into the first team. On form you'd have to have Thompstone on the wing as well.

Signed a deal last season prob a 2 year one.
Goneva might be off though end of a big contract, Leicester might want to lower it, might head off to france.
Would like to see Worth, Umaga, Thacker, Odogwu, Bryant, White all get bedded in over the next 3 seasons.

Yep Nephew of Tana and relative of Jerry collins. Son of Mike Umaga.
Been in our academy for a bit only 17 plays 10/12 I think.
First start for Tigers senior against Loughbrough in preseason looked very good.
Who knows could see a Umaga in a england shirt one day (New Zelanders would puke)

Can see TV staying on in place of Goneva and Odogwu in place of Benjamin for the squad next season. Bryant is playing quite a bit for Doncaster at 10 and 12 so hopefully he'll be in place to come in for Bai next season. We're due to renegotiate with some big names next summer so if we can promote those three in the backs we can free up some cap in addition to the increase.

Would also think Camacho (Fitness depending) for Worth.
throw in the likes of Hills, Farnworth, Tuiliagi, Maksymiw, Beckett, Owen, Evans, Milne, in the forwards as well.

Re: Silly season transfer rumours III...
I'd hope Morris hangs around as I rate him very highly. His footwork and handling skills are excellent, especially in tight spaces and under pressure. He offers something very different to our other options on the wing - especially if Camacho is once again struggling for fitness.
I wouldn't be surprised if Loamanu moves on at the end of the season as well if he is still struggling to find fitness and form.
If all of Loamanu, Morris, Benjamin, Camacho and Goneva were to leave at the end of the season then I would have concerns.
I'm hoping that with more rotation to keep him fresh and playing mostly on the wing Niki can get back to his best and be convinced to stay for another year.

Re: Silly season transfer rumours III...
As Welly says Morris probably has another year anyway so won't be off. Camacho we wouldn't miss as he never plays. Loamano has struggled to make an impact and I'm not sure why, he did well at the end of last season and played in pre season but is now out in the cold. Benjamin is a great finisher but is blighted by injury and has barely played (yet scored when he did).
Goneva would be a blow to lose but he'll be 32 by the end of the season. He probably only has two more years at the top and you wouldn't blame him for taking a big pay day in France or extending his career in Japan.

Re: Silly season transfer rumours III...
Good news on Morris.
I rated (and still rate) Camacho very highly so it's such a shame he can't get fit. With the new Argentine Super Rugby franchise I guess he does have an obvious option to go elsewhere. I can't see another Prem club going for him given his injury record. His salary would be much smaller though so maybe an optimistic coach would take a punt!
11.Veainu, Betham
12.Toomua, Roberts, Bryant
13.Tuilagi, Smith, Catchpole
14.Thompstone, Morris, Odugwu
15.Tait, Bell
If we lost Niki, Benjamin, Camacho and Loamanu at the end of the season our options would look like that. At full strength it looks good but all it would take is a couple of injuries (not unlikely after recent seasons) and we'd be feeling limited for the big games - or throwing youngsters in and seeing if they sink or swim.
Personally I'd like another winger there. Ideally that would be Niki to allow as much continuity in the squad as possible. I can completely understand his logic behind leaving if he chose to however.

Wingers are easy to acquire and we have some coming through. Worth could step in if pushed. We'd need a real injury crisis to run out given the options we'd still have as we could push Smith and Catchpole out to the wing easily enough.

The Scotsman this morning claimed that Richie Gray turned down an approach from Bath to move to Toulouse instead. I'm assuming that was before they made an approach from Charteris, but who knows.

Glad we didn't get gray. Charteris is an ok signing to replace Hooper. But the big concern is that Attwood is leaving us and Wilson is rumored to Toulouse also.

What makes you say that about Gray out of interest? I'm obviously biased but I thought he had an outstanding world cup and has well and truly shaken off the show pony reputation. Must have something about him if one of the best packs in Europe are chasing him.

I understand that Charteris move was a condition for him to remain eligible to Wales. I know that Bath is one hour away from Cardiff but is it becoming a sort of 5th region?

I did wonder if Attwood would go back to Bristol, especially if they get promotion, we will see.
Charteris already owns a house in Bath as he went to the University and his wifes family are there, so I'm sure there were non rugby/financial reasons for him coming to Bath.

According to the commentators during the Wasps-Toulon game at the weekend Boudjellal is gathering a large number of big agents together this week to discuss Toulons spending plans for next season.
Basically anyone with international props out of contract at the end of the season may need to spend the rest of the year hiding behind a sofa.
From a Tigers perspective I'm extremely glad that we have Ayerza especially but also Cole signed up 'long term'.
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Mulipola is one on their radar though.

Re: Silly season transfer rumours III...
WP Nel’s contract is up this year. He’s only just broken onto the international scene, but he had a strong world cup and made a few ‘team of the world cup’ squads.
I’d be pretty disappointed if he left Edinburgh only a season after becoming SQ, but if a big money offer comes in then I could see it happening.
As well as anchoring Edinburgh and Scotland’s scrums he is a pretty good try scorer – 14 tries in 85 Edinburgh games is a good return for a tighthead prop!

Nel will be on a fair few sides radar I imagine RDW.
I agree if he left straight after becoming SQ it would leave a really bad smell for most fans. It would also highlight the issue of 3 year residency yet again.
As mentioned above I expect Davey Wilson will be getting calls from France. These could become especially tempting for him if Henry Thomas overtakes him for club and country this season - something that is by no means unlikely given recent form and fitness.

Re: Silly season transfer rumours III...
I think Wilson is one that could be off, and wouldn't begrudge him it either. Bath have Thomas, and Palma-Newport isn't a bad AP tighthead either, but they would definitely need a replacement.
From an England point of view, I'd prefer to see Cole, Brookes and Thomas as the tightheads moving forward, with the likes of Collier and Sinckler as Saxons options.
Wilson is unlikely to make 2019, and I'd prefer to get the young props some experience

I'm starting to reluctantly agree BamBam.
I've been a big fan of Wilson for a long time now and at the start of last season I was hoping he could finally start to bring his carrying to the International game a bit. Unfortunately his latest injury seems to have really hurt his effectiveness which is a shame. At his best he was excellent at set piece and carried very effectively around the park.
Especially with Henry Thomas impressing as he did at the weekend and Brookes getting MOM - although Brookes over more that 25/30 mins is still something I am yet to be consistently impressed by!

It does sound like he's off and I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at Sarries.
The fact Glaws were after Charteris suggests Galarza is definitely off to Super Rugby, so we'll still need a 5.
A rumour doing the Glaws boards is that we're after Auterac.

Attwood to Sarries as a replacement for Hamilton would make sense.
Quins could also use him but with Horwill already taking up a fair wedge of cap in the boiler room they may want to spend elsewhere - a replacement for NEv surely being top of the list!
How much longer does Afoa have at Gloucs HKC?

HKC I'd imagine everyone is after Auterac. At what 22/23 he's a unit both in the scrum and the loose. He has future international written all over him.
Rumours still circulate that clubs are looking to spend big. Bath have offered Ben Youngs a big deal and all of Wasps, Bristol and Worcester are allegedly willing to off er big deals to Manu. Bristol allegedly have offered £1.6m over three seasons which is ridiculous money.

If Auterac has any sense he'll use the interest to get a better deal out of Bath but stay put. He'll be in a front row with Thomas and Webber, settled and in a squad probably at the top end of various competitions. Unless Bath feck him about I see no good reason for hm to move.
