Adverisity??
Dropped by a couple of powder puff punchers (one a cruiserweight) and getting back up is hardly adversity. He's never fought anyone that can bang - and most that have faced WK say his jab is as powerful as a lot of HW's straight right.

Being knock man sausage-eyed in a boxing match and recovering to win is overcoming adversity. While Fury invited the majority of it upon himself (didn't train for McDermott rematch, had hands low against Firtha, Pajkic and Cunningham) he showed he can come back from the brink.
Obviously this is a whole new ball game but Fury's in a far better place than he was when he faced that lot.

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
Admire your optimism but he is neither quick enough, technically good enough or has the chin to walk through certain shots to make it the brawl he needs in order to win.
Wlad, as average a champ as he is, is simply too good to let a wandering oaf lunge in and unload.
Will be watching as will be fun seeing him try. And failing. After his pre fight antics he deserves a good spanking.

Not sure Fury will be the one lunging in....
Taller..bigger reach.....If he has any sense he'll try to catch Wlad lunging in and tie him up If he doesn't..
Then again he hasn't got any sense..

Whereas Wlad fought through adversity against the big punching Samuel Peter which gets overlooked all the time, some make out that Fury has been up against it against decent opposition when he hasn't.

I agree - everything in the build up points to him leaning away, countering and moving.

Even Fury has been candid enough to admit he hasn't fought anyone decent. He's been gut-checked, though. I often wonder if he has someone watching over him when he fights - he's been so, so close to the brink numerous times.

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
I could laugh at all those who mock Fury's ability he's British,Euro and Commonwealth champ for goodness sake and unbeaten he can't be the useless oaf many portray. Lets say he does topple Wlad on Saturday (I dont think he will btw) but where would he rank ? No 2 greatest British HW of all time ?

He'd be in rare company alongside Fitz (was he British?) and Lewis (was he British?).

He has a mountain to climb in toppling Wlad but lets say for argument sake he does - he'd have a shout of our 2nd greatest HW - bar Lewis none of the others managed to topple the king (discounting Fitz)

Fitz left at 9..............Lewis at 12..
When does one have to leave to stop being British........1 - 9/10/11 ?? ...
What is Lewis these days Jamaican ??....
Fitz is british in my opinion....If Lewis is..

Some comments on here have been utterly laughable.
If fury makes it through this fight I'll be absolutely stunned.
I'm expecting a KO and for fury to be made to look average....which he is.

Tyson has won the argument to wear the gloves he wants Probably be only thing he wins this weekend anyway
Would be nice to the Klit domination end but i doubt it.

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
If Wlad had half the spiteful nature of his brother, I'd fully expect this fight to make the Danny Williams/Vitali match look like Ali/Frazier III. As it is, Wlad rarely, if ever, gets out of third gear these days and I doubt Fury is the man to make him showcase the full range of his ability.
I'd like to see Fury dropped with body shots just to highlight what woeful condition he's in and then felled with a nice big right hand as the coup de grace.

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
i dont think fury is as chinny as some are making out, he got dropped by not big punching fighters but they were still big punches. the problem he had, was walking onto huge overhand rights that would knock down most. i doubt we'll see wlad unloading shots like that on Saturday hence my points prediction

think fury will come out as the aggressor, so we'll see the usual defensive stuff from wlad. as fury starts to run out of ideas and tire then we might see wlad start unloading a bit more, but wouldnt bet my house on it with wlad

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
Fury hasn't fought anyone of the quality of Klitschko and I think that he will lose ultimately due to lack of experience. Fury is a big guy and 12 years younger than him, so has a chance. But I think Klitschko's defence will be difficult to break down and late in the fight Fury will walk into a big punch and go down.

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
So does that not highlight just how poor the HW division is when the Champion is perceived to only have three gears and there's no-one around to make him even consider the possibility of getting a fourth gear? For Fury to win this he's going to have to show an improvement of up to three times what he's showcased thus far and there's no way that he could keep that ability a secret. Fury's problem is he's too dumb to know he's not good enough.hazharrison wrote:DAVE667 wrote:If Wlad had half the spiteful nature of his brother, I'd fully expect this fight to make the Danny Williams/Vitali match look like Ali/Frazier III. Pedro147 wrote:Fury has never impressed me in any of his fights, even at British level. Was gifted a result against John McD along the way. Even Price, despite his glassy limitations, at least looked good against poor opposition.
Despite having the physical advantages such as height and reach, he doesn't fight to these advantages, similar to how Paul Williams fought.
Wlad will find him quite easily and Fury doesn't have enough power to keep him off. Wlad inside 6 with 3 or 4 knockdowns along the way.
Fury has improved a lot since then

I'm not sure about that. This is a fighter who was hurt by DaVarryl Williamson and pushed by Tony Thompson. I don't believe Fury has to be the second coming of Lennox Lewis (or even Joe Bugner) to upset old grabby bollo cks.

Just can't make a case for Fury, Wlad is better in every dept. and on top of that everything inh is camp is done in the most professional manner possible, comparing their set ups is like comparing Ford to Ferrari. Fury will be game, but by the fifth or sixth round he will have shipped a lot of heavy shots.I'll be surprised if he makes it to the second half of the fight.

Wlad is the better fighter and I know Heavies tend to age slower, but Wlad is hitting the big 40.

Yes, and there is a chance that age catches him up, but as I said, he is most professional boxer out there, his preparation is meticulous, he doesn't get out of shape between fights, hasn't really been in any wars, boxes cautiously. If you want an example to follow in giving yourself the best possible chance of a prolonged career- Wlad is your man, and I think that he will be aware enough to notice when he starts to age, and smart enough to act on it and retire.

He will most likely win, but I am hoping for the upset. Wlad is a gent and I do admire him, but for some reason I like Tyson and I think he would bring some excitement to the division.

Finding out that Fury has speed and movement and workrate has certainly changed my opinion of this fight. Pick Fury to be stretchered out in 3. Thought he'd be knocked out in eleven pain staking rounds... but if he is indeed a threat, I suspect he'll be sparked pretty early

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
Yep. The closer it gets the more worried I get for Furys health. It's not going to be good. He will come out and as soon as Wlad lands one of his jabs, he will very quickly realise who he is in with and will cover up and get pounded....or go for broke knowing he can land a hail Mary. ...but then get caught flush by a steaming straight right or a trademark left hook.
Seen Wlad doing body work this camp and he may target that "soft" area.
Especially if Fury fights like a southpaw.

Aye. Wlad said he would do some body work because Tyson had the build of a spider. Remains to be seen but wlad within 6.
