Re: Steven Gerrard rejected
Ridiculous to equate Tom Brady's off-field behaviour with Steven Gerrard's. And I'm a big fan of Gerrard the footballer.
Brady is, relatively speaking, squeaky clean, Stevie? Not so sure.
Seems absurd to deny him membership tho', their loss will be someone else's membership gain.

I would have rejected him on the basis that he putts with a glove on.

What a bunch of ar$eholes. Obviously, all the existing membership moonlight as God's Seraphim in their spare time.
The above aside, I'm afraid he'd have to be black-balled for this.super_realist wrote:I would have rejected him on the basis that he putts with a glove on.

Ha! I thought it was only me that hates the look of people putting with a glove on and straight away assume they're a hacker (often wrongly).

Re: Steven Gerrard rejected
Stevie-G is a glorified chav. And a bit too typically English in footballing style to be considered really good.

Like Ashley Cole, Joey Barton, John Terry etc Gerrard would most likely be in jail if he were not a footballer.

Are King Kenny and Alan Hansen members at Hillside?
Having seen the video in question, I don't think I'd be too keen on encountering Stevie G in the clubhouse car park when he's had a few!

Gerrards lack of forehead and unintelligent, aggressive visage is far worse.

Next 606V2 meet venue sorted then?
Being perfect specimens of beauty and humanity it's obviously only a matter of time before we are all invited to be members at Hillside...

Apparently both live on the same road overlooking Birkdale. The two clubhouses are probably less than 200 yards apart. In fact, if you are playing Birkdale it would be closer to the clubhouse and 1st tee to warm up on the Hillside practice ground before your round.

Re: Steven Gerrard rejected
Any other stories of celebrities being turned away?
A few have been declined membership at my club, including a well known heavy weight world champion boxer and an Arsenal goalkeeper.
At my old club, I heard that Dennis Bergkamp was turned away for a casual green fee one afternoon because he was wearing trainers. Probably wasn't wearing knee length socks either

Or possibly more interesting, have any 606v2 posters been turned down for membership and if so, why?

Re: Steven Gerrard rejected
Yeah I was turned down for membership after bringing my pet fox along to the course with me to steal balls and headcovers. I then pulled the table cloth away at the prize giving presentation without knocking over any of the trophies, I thought it was a pretty cool trick and would seal the deal but the committee disapproved.

Re: Steven Gerrard rejected
I tried to join Knebworth once when I was working in Hertfordshire; couldn't believe they asked for a reference letter instead of just pocketing my money, no questions asked.
My local-pro reference didn't cut the mustard, references about wearing shirts in the clubhouse, no more than one cooler per cart, stuff like that must've put them off.
And I've told the story before about getting kicked off St.Neots (worst course in the world contender?) for not wearing socks. I ask you, some people . . . . . . .
