Post by Guest82 Tue 22 Mar 2016, 2:04 pm

First topic message reminder :

Draw is out. Projected quarter finals are
Djokovic v Berdych
Federer v Ferrer
Wawrinka v Nadal
Murray v Nishikori

Del Potro playing Pella in the first round...if he wins that then it is Federer.
Kyle Edmund playing Vesely....if he wins that then it is Djokovic.

In a fascinating day's Tennis, Murray didn't disappoint as he managed to somehow win, despite looking worse than he was in IW Headscratch

I've heard there's a good cure for insomnia out, have you tried watching some Raonic matches.

Agreed. The start of Miami has had some shock results to talk about but it's still being overshadowed by other stuff. Fed's comment about not much happened whilst he has been away was funny though.

No, I don't think I will, because you didn't pre-emptively moderate, you inflamed a situation.

Capricious use of authority mixed with bias is a poor background for the robust, friendly debate posters here look for.

And I'm breaking no rules here.

I hardly ever post anymore and this thread is a reminder of why I stopped.

A ridiculously over zealous moderator who only intervenes based on protecting one fan group, who most of the time, whilst claiming to 'nip' things in the bud, intervenes in a manner that inflames and aggravates the situation. Often completely misreading the situation in his/her desire to wield the stick.

It's reduced the level of debate to a narrow spectrum. It's pathetic. The constant issuing of threats like some kind of cyber dictator.

Temp, why don't you just chill and see how LF JHM do the job.

With moderating, like commentating, less is better.

Temp comments to much for a Mod, bit of a salt & pepper trying to be all over the place, think he's takes this role too seriously.

Also if I was a mod, and there are 5 posts a day, everyday of how I am modding badly, I would quit, seriously this role is not for him, no embarrassment to quit, and get back to normal Poster status and enjoy the forum.

There are another 15 posters here who could be mods, since LF and JHM are getting old, and need an apprentice to help with modding Smile

Also type of "this is last time, strike number 1,2,3,9000 etc," do make me laugh.

Temp you should quit, I swear it would do you good on personal and Academic level Laugh

What's the point of archiving this thread AFTER you've deleted the pertinent responses.

Why don't you just stop your interventions.

Being a moderator doesn't mean you're obliged to fiddle with threads and people's posts.

For some reason you don't seem to realise how frustrating it is to find a post that you've taken the effort to write see removed or edited for no justifiable reason.

Emanc. Its not archived to hide anything, its still there for all the admins and mods to see.
It CAN be reinstated, but it means that half the Miami masters thread has nothing to do with the tennis.
This way, this thread can stay the tennis thread. It might surprise you to know it would be nice to talk tennis

It's incredible that my post doing no more than drawing attention to two other posts on the same thread gets deleted, while the same two posts (put there by the moderator) remain.

Anyone would think there are no rules except whatever suits the moderator.

I too post far, far less than I once did ; and the reason - for the most part - is because the quality of moderating exhibited by one particular Mod falls disappointingly short of what is reasonably expected by any rational and fair-minded forum member.

That's what you always do.

You pick a fight on the pretext that you're trying to prevent one and then when people complain you delete all related posts with the claim that this is somehow fair for everyone because it removes all incendiary posts, when the only problematic posts and behaviour were yours.
No one broke any rules - there was no need to intervene.

Ok eman, fair
Ill try it that way,
I will, quite literally, do absolutely nothing but post as myself, EXCEPT if a reported post comes through. You can say or do or fight however much you like, I might get involved as myself, but I wont ask for calm or not to wind posters up whatsoever.

One condition, you agree to come back to the forum and contribute to it, from a TENNIS standpoint.

Is that a decent deal?

Can we just lay off temp for one day??

Unless you yourself have been a mod and seen the nonsense they have to endure because of hurt feelings. As posters we have a duty to conduct ourselves in a manner befitting.

Not a fan of gang mentality, so can we if we do want to have a discussion about the forum, do it in a more constructive fashion. Just seems one objection to modding causes all to come out in numbers. Please just can diplomacy prevail.

Support our mods.

No problem temp. I know we had our fair share of disagreements and we spoke a bit via pm to iron those differences out. Smile

It wasn't you who that caused me to go away. Just the confusing nature of posters and their presentation of debates.

I haven't watched much of Miami so far. I hope to watch some today.

This is a great chance for Kyrgios to come through. Destroying Baghdatis was impressive and with Stan and Rafa gone he should make the QF without difficulty. If so, hope he can beat Raonic.
