SURREY HAVE NAMED A FOURTEEN MAN SQUAD FOR THE NATWEST T20 BLAST GAME AGAINST GLAMORGAN AT THE KIA OVAL ON THURSDAY.

Ravi Rampaul,Mark Footitt and Jade Dernbach remain on the treatment table.
Sam Curran is bunking off school for the day
Aaron Finch and Dwayne Bravo are still at the IPL
The whole match will be broadcast on Sky Sports 2 with coverage starting at 6pm.
The Surrey squad to play Glamorgan in the NatWest T20 Blast at the Kia Oval on Thursday 26th May:
Gareth Batty (capt)
Zafar Ansari
James Burke
Sam Curran
Tom Curran
Steven Davies
Ben Foakes
Azhar Mahmood
Stuart Meaker
Mathew Pillans
Jason Roy

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN NATWEST T20 BLAST
Cheers, JimBob.
Yeah, apart from Ansari in for Burns (whose place in this format might have been in doubt anyway), probably the same team as last time.
Could do with some news from the Club about Ravioli.

I'd actually bring Sibley in for Burns and Ansari for Burke as two like for like replacements. We don't need 7 bowlers and it was the batting that was weak last time.

Apparently Sam Curran will also be available for the Somerset game, due to it being half term week!

Although Stewie and MDV ignore James' (very understandable) suggestion and leave Sibley on drinks duty!

Surprised Burke plays over Meaker/Sibley - feels like we're carrying him at 10 tbh

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN NATWEST T20 BLAST
I see Glamorgan are relying at least a bit on spin with both the experienced Cosker and the younger Salter in their side. I liked Salter when I saw him in the CC match at Guildford last year but he had no luck then and has done little since.

Olly - I'm actually not too surprised but I well understand where you're coming from and you're definitely not alone.
Although Meaker has played a couple of ODIs, the limited overs format has never been regarded as his natural game by Surrey who favour him more in the Championship. Also, with him only just back from injury and so many other seamers currently unavailable, Stewie and MDV might feel they were pushing their luck if he was picked tonight. He'll be one of the first names on their team sheet for Taunton.
Although Sibley has bowled his leg spin in the seconds, it might be seen as too large a gamble for tonight and so Burke is preferred as a safer extra bowling option if that is needed. I accept it might not be. So, yeah, Burke could well be a passenger if everything works out but we could see him bowl if it doesn't.

Flicked it off his legs straight to the fielder who was about 10 yards in from the boundary. Didn't even look like he tried to hit hard.

Thanks, Jimbo. I would bring in Wilson for the Somerset Champo match starting on Saturday and leave out Davies. However, a usually reliable source tells me it is unlikely that Davies will be dropped at this stage.

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN NATWEST T20 BLAST
Davies - soft dismissal as always
Sanga - stupid run down the pitch waft
Roy - utterly absurd shot to play when those two had just got out
Ansari - just poor execution of a half volley
Sam Curran - unlucky to pick out the fielder, good catch
Azhar - warm up!!
Wilson - very scratchy innings, soft dismissal
Burke - pants
Tom Curran - did his best
My review of so far

Thanks, Olly. Almost as good/bad as being there. I'll try and be brave enough to watch some of the tv recording later. Batgirl 2 now has the remote and BGT!!

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN NATWEST T20 BLAST
From a neutral point of view, watching that innings, what is Roy doing? Just lost Davies, then Sangakarra, next ball scoops it in the air going for a big shot. Its only 20 overs but you have still got to dig in and build a partnership, give the bowlers something to work with, 120-8 is better than 90 all out going for big shots.
Glamorgan bowled well though and were attacking from the first ball. Good captaincy from Rudolph and a great spell by van der guten (sp)

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN NATWEST T20 BLAST
Jimbob - think you were right about the mood in the ground. My son started summer bar work at the Oval last night (pint pouring duties at back of bar) and said he must have pulled more pints than he's drunk in his life!
Maybe Surrey's nightmare form at the moment is a cunning revenue-raising plan? (But no-one told the Currans)
