Rooney woeful? I'm not his biggest fan but he's been pretty good so far, working well alongside Dier allowing Alli to push on further

The Welsh doing a job on Russia...

Not much to shout about so far for us; whilst second place isn't the end of the world...does mean less rest days should we make it past the QF. (And you lot say I'm not optimistic) Smile

Decent enough performance thus far, no worse than the 1st half against Russia...lack of taking chances is a real concern..we may only get 2 chances against the bigger teams, have to take them. Still feel we are lacking any kind of imagination or intelligence in the final 3rd..our technical ability is really shown up in games like this where we have the ball on the edge of box but can't play those small intricate killer passes.

I haven't been as high on Rooney as others but do feel it was vital to keep those 3 playing in midfield together...lack that key component of time together as it is. A midfield trio works when they know each other's game and are used to playing with one another. To take away a chance to learn seems strange.

Great half by Wales. Could have been 4-0 easily. Russia are awful.

Wales actually looking more offensively intent at 2-0 than we are at 0-0.

Let off for England...started second half like its a training game.

Blimey ...that's the trouble with dominating and not scoring !

Suddenly a mistake in defence and the opponent scores...Slovakia so nearly in then. Horrible mistake Smalling .

Hopefully will generate more urgency from England without actually conceding...

Lallana? The man who's probably played the best and more importantly has chased and won the ball back numerous times. Something Sturridge hasn't and won't do on the other side.

Sturridge the most likely person to score if he's playing well or not as opposed to Lallana who would shock us all by scoring.

Vardy can score, Rooney can score, Alli can score...id be more inclined to have someone whose going to work to get the ball back and get the attacking moves going than someone who hasn't turned up at all this evening!

3-0 Wales...showing how it should be done. Clinical and not happy to settle at 1-0.

Wales scoring goals for fun but England just keep running into this white wall...
Frustrating playing against teams with no ambition but to defend : but they have to come up with something creative ; surely can't let Slovakia get away with a point ?

Sturridge missed a super chance then picard

Why is it luck? We shouldn't need luck against a side like Slovakia who have come to not get embarrassed. If we have any intent of getting past the last 16 even we should be winning this. For all our possession we have once again looked bang average in the final 3rd both in terms of creating and taking chances.

It's truly sad how little guile we have in the opponents final 3rd. Especially considering how all the talk was of the exciting, attacking verve of the youngsters.

Either they aren't as exciting and free flowing as they have appeared at club level or the system/what is being asked of them is strangling it on the international stage.

Yeh Slovakia have sat deep and got men behind the ball won't argue with that. But for all the possession we have had we've created what maybe 3 real real goal scoring chances. We don't even look capable of producing a bit of magic so no wonder teams are happy to camp in and take their chances on a set piece/counter attack.

Sometimes games like this happen - should have scored, Slovakia lucky numerous times - obviously finishing needs to improve, but still through and by my interpretation of the draw we're likely to get one of Austria/Hungary/Iceland?

Very disappointing this. Not enough urgency ; like they've given up on breaking down this Slovakian defence.
To be fair , their keeper has done really well.
But playing against ten and a half they still don't look like scoring. Need a big improvement.

Nine and a half now ! Come on have a go ....

I'm aware of that GSC, but even across the whole game we've had maybe 3 maybe 4 at best very very good chances at goal. Given the the possession and how many minutes we have spent in and around their box it's an extremely poor amount.
