Durham v Yorkshire - County Championship
Match Details
Venue: Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street
Date: Monday 20th June - Thursday 23rd June
Officials: TBC
Weather: Forecast currently dry for all days.
League Position: Yorkshire 2nd 88pts; Durham 3rd 87pts
Teams
Durham:
Squad - Paul Collingwood (c), Mark Stoneman, Keaton Jennings, Scott Borthwick, Jack Burnham, Michael Richardson, Ryan Pringle, Usman Arshad, Barry McCarthy, Chris Rushworth, Graham Onions, Jamie Harrison
Yorkshire:
Squad - Ballance, Bresnan, Carver, Coad, Gale ©, Hodd (w), Leaning, Lees, Lyth, Patterson, Rhodes, Shaw, Williamson.
Preview
Yorkshire enter this table topping fixture missing close to an entire team (excl openers). Any team would miss Root and Bairstow, though the bating still stacks up well with a top five of Lyth, Lees, Williamson, Ballance & Gale. It is in the bowling that Yorkshire may struggle missing - Brooks, Plunkett, Willey, Rashid, Sidebottom & Fisher. With Durham's bowling looking much closer to full strength following recent injury issues, the yorkie top order needs to deliver.
Big match for Scott Borthwick as he looks to impress the England selectors.

Re: Durham v Yorkshire - County Championship
Andrew Gale has opted not to have a toss, thus Durham will be batting. Having been recalled from a seson long loan with Gloucestershire, Josh Shaw could be taking the new ball for the first time for his home county.

Ah no, in his first ever Frst Class match, Ben Coad takes the new ball. Quite possibly the slowest new ball bowler we have had in many a year.

Borthwick fails to make his mark - run out by skipper Gale.

Career best for Steven Patterson - seems it is a wicket that will reward nagging (trundling) accuracy. Suspect Yorkshire will need to build a sizeable first innings lead, first hour will be crucial today.

PS,
Though probably talking to myself, if anyone sees this can you recommend a good place to chat about county cricket where there are people from all counties? Rugby chat will now take a back burner for a couple of months and sadly discussions on here are rather limited.

Yorks building a typically annoying (for the opposition) lower order partnership of 40+. Which promptly ends as I type. But it's still a lead of over 100.

Good position for Yorkshire as we enter day 3, with Durham still 53 behind with 7 second innings wickets remaining.
Importance of Tim Bresnan to the balance of our side (especially with Rashid absent) was highlighted again. He was our most important player last season and though just his second game following injury in UAE he seems to be bang on form again.

Excellent session for Durham, with Colly rolling the years back. Early bonus wicket for Yorkies with a rather silly run out, and a very tight first hour, but the young lads struggled to maintain their line and length.
