Foreign Transfer Page
First topic message reminder :
As a general rule, if you want a world class player (and by world class I mean a player that I consider to be one of the 3 best in the world in his position at the moment), you will be looking at between £20-25 million.
For a top international with over 30 caps, £17-22 million, and an international with less than 30 caps £15-20 million. There may be some exceptions to this in the case of certain players, but this will be the general rule.
There will be an upper limit of £10 million for uncapped academy aged players unless two or more managers want the player and enter into a bidding war in which case there is no upper limit.
Bids for uncapped players who are over academy age limits will be judged on their own individual merits.

Does round 2 bidding end tomorrow night regardless of whether every team has bidded or not

Think everyone needs to bid Bam, look to be 3-4 people still to bid - not sure if Driver will be as he didnt in first round?

Think that is now
Bam, SJE, Driver, Fluxy (Chiefs) outstanding on bids.
Driver are you bidding in this round as you missed the last one?

Re: Foreign Transfer Page
I think Ruan Combrinck would be a great shout for the Chiefs as a back 3 starter Flux. Happy at wing or FB, he's had a great season, got to be nailed on for SA.

I did say we should go to a blind bidding system rather than the top sides blowing everyone else out of the water !!

Re: Foreign Transfer Page
Good point Bam, does make it difficult for some of the lower league teams to catch up, maybe a way we could do something at the end of the transfer window would be to put together a list of 10-12 players for the clubs near the bottom of the league to do some swaps with their current players if they choose to.
Probably haven't explained that very well, but would be good to get the league as even as possible as the bottom teams have struggled with lots of managers changing over the years and not always being able to build up their teams properly.

Zain Davids - 5m
As mine and Chiefs bids are the last 2 in this round, can we accept them and move on to open bidding?

Bam - happy to reopen the foreign window if Fluxy is ok with that and budgets up to date? Good suggestion.

Re: Foreign Transfer Page
Shall we trial some blind bidding then? Would the basis be to email in a bid and if that hasn't been bettered in 24hrs then that bid is accepted on here?
What do you think Fluxy?
I am happy to take the bids in, if we start from tomorrow morning?

I appreciate the thoughts lads, but you could have the discussion in the right place: https://www.606v2.com/t62626p50-ideas-for-next-season#3406100
I like the idea, we could operate this for the open window now?

As a start I would like to manage it, until it has a structure that I can hand on to someone.
From 0900 opening bidding can take place. PM me if you wish to make a bid. There will still be a 24 hour period where, if, someone manages to bid the same player, I can advise the original bidder of the bid that has come in. They won't know who, or the value, just that there bid has been accepted.
Then accepted bids will be posted on the page.
What I will do, similar to the page at the top of this page, is have a table of manager names, and then an asterisks next to their name, if they have a bid in place - again no one will know who they have bidded for, or the value, just that they have bidded.

Re: Foreign Transfer Page
I would suggest making a bid, then putting what your max would be for that player
If anyone bids, whoever has the highest max wins it

Re: Foreign Transfer Page
Just a thought Flux.
Rather than all the constant bidding, people just stick their best offer in and that's it. For example....
Pooly bids 10m for Combrink
Prop bids 8m for Combrink
Chris bids 15m for Combrink
You pm Prop and myself that your bid has failed and you need to change targets. Wait 24hrs and confirm Chris's bid.
It would stop the 1m increments going on and save a lot of time. It also makes it extremley tactical as you may get a player for 5m but you don't know if anybody else is bidding.
The only issue is with your own bids as you'd need to inform the bidder, perhaps involve a 3rd party.

Also means may need to tighten up the guide prices a bit, but everyone is usually on point with those
I've got no cash to make any bids at the moment, so happy to help or take your bids Flux.
Would it make sense to have bids sent to two people?

As you stated mate, and to reference Pooly's comment, the guide would need to be followed still.

Canny.
Is it a 5m for Combrink (max of 10m) or just a straight bid?

Re: Foreign Transfer Page
When do you get the bid failed pm?
Shouldn't it be when the bid is accepted for the other person? Or once your bid is rejected can you not bid on the player again

Is there an issue with one of the people who is receiving pms seeing the just putting a higher bid if they want the player after seeing other bids?

Re: Foreign Transfer Page
That's the only issue I guess Steve.
From what I understand, there's no re-bid, you get one bid.

Re: Foreign Transfer Page
You will get a message to say your bid is not high enough or has been beaten. It will be upto that manager to make up a bid for that player again, and up to them on how much they need to up it.
Generally, I know it may seem like that, but I will have to have a third party, so Bam for example, but we will cross that bridge when it comes to it!

Re: Foreign Transfer Page
Ah right.
So in theory, it's not really changing that much. You can still counter bid and get in a bidding war? The only difference is you might get a player "under the radar" rather than somebody jumping on your bid?
