First topic message reminder :

The other thread is coming to an end and I think it's nice to have a new memory to take us through this year.

And with the new season starting today, what better time to refresh things and start again. The preamble of pre-season is over: 2016/17 LETS BE AVIN YA

evidently in decline now. you can't even say he's been starved of service, as he's had great opportunities in both away games, a player of his supposed calibre should be putting away. no chance of him extending that one year deal as it stands, if anything, he should be benched & Rashford playing up front

exodus needs to be depay, rooney, ibra, fellaini, rojo, jones, darmian.........it's pretty ridiculous the job that needs to be done here, in terms of squad overhaul.

It depends if he goes and scores against the teams they arent right up and competing with (in theory). At the end of the day, if he gets 20 goals it won't matter who they are against as they'll likely have won games, and United need to make sure they are winning those because the past few years it has been much more difficult.

I think I'd be keeping Rojo and Darmian as squad players at the least, Jones isnt a bad one for that either but the lad really needs to leave. Valencia has done well this year, but hes not strides ahead of Darmian, and Darmian should have the higher ceiling there.

Ibra can still prove himself very valuable, although I don't think he wants more than a year anyway. I have given up on Rooney there though, he needs to move and find some spark again.

I'd be looking at playing Carrick and Schneiderlin in a loop, and seeing if Herrera finds consistency, if not he'd be out and both those former pair in at the same time to go with Pogba. And you'd have to question whether they always play a 3, or whether you go into games like Hull at home and play 2 with Mata or someone more advanced.

Also need to make sure they use Martial as he is a real talent and would be a loss if he left due to lack of playing time.

Like who?

Lallana, Lovren, Mane and Clyne are key parts of the Liverpool first eleven. Lovren had a very sketchy first season but he's much improved.

Shaw, particularly before the injury, has shown he is capable.

Victor Wanyama and Toby Alderweireld are doing well at Tottenham.

The only person I can think of who hasn't really shown the same kind of form is Ricky Lambert. But he never really got a chance at Liverpool.

Was going to make a similar point - most have done pretty well since leaving Southampton (Lovren sucks tho tbf)

Lovren was a disaster initially at Liverpool but has been much improved in the past year.

I really did agree for his first year and even a fair portion of his second. But since Klopp has come in he's been really good. I honestly think if it wasn't for that horrible first 12 months he'd be getting a fair few plaudits. I was a huge critic, but it's hard for me to be negative towards him as he's been consistently quality for a while now.

Initially, the story was very different on those players. I guess my view has started to become outdated, given their early season form, but I still don't see any of them, apart from Mane & Alderwiereld (loan at Soton), as being of an interest to elite level teams.

Speaking of outdated views, is Coutinho starting to alter people's views of him on here, now he's delivering more consistently? Is he leading the race for the POTY?

I don't know if I think hes been their best player yet.

Sanchez at Arsenal has impressed me most, individually.

Watford are under investigation after supplying falsified financial information to the football authorities.

The Premier League club face a heavy fine, and possibly a points deduction, for submitting what The Daily Telegraph can reveal was a forged banking letter when Gino Pozzo became their sole owner.

What interests me is their Chief Exec (I believe) is Scott Duxbury, who was rather implicated in all the Tevez problems

Best part of the article:

There is no known precedent in professional English football for the offence, although Chesterfield were docked nine points in 2001 for financial irregularities, including falsifying gate receipts and giving a player two contracts.

I'd have said Lallana has been Liverpool's best player this season, Coutinho maybe second or third best.

Just depends what you are looking for really. Coutinho is our best player IMO but Firmino is more important to what way Klopp wants us to play. A similar argument could be made for Lallana.

A good weekend for Victor Anichebe. After the tweet, he's also been reported to police for throwing a bottle back into a crowd after an argument with West Ham fans which ended up hitting a small boy in the head.

This could be a reason for Mourinho's struggles at the moment. As well as the health problems of his father.

He could buy pretty much any property in Manchester today such is his wealth.

His kids are grown up, not like his wife and toddlers are in London while he works all week in Manchester.

I think specifically that is what he's adjusting to. The fact that his kids are all grown up and he's on his own these days.

Probably needs to take a break, he hasn't had a significant one for a long time.

Wonder how he'd cope living in a squalid bedsit, doing a cleaning job or farm work for less than minimum wage?

Seriously though, its hard to feel much sympathy for the guy...especially with his attitude.

Tony Pulis has signed a contract extension until 2018.

It's a tough one with Pulis, teams will feel like they can't get rid of him because it's such a gamble. I can't see West Brom ever getting relegated with him in charge but at the same time it's unlikely they'll progress with him either.

Would of been stupid for the new owners to remove him & risk upsetting the stability that Pulis brings to the club. You only have to look at Sunderland, to see what can happen when bringing in a manager of supposed better quality, in an attempt to better the club.

West Brom have settled, reasonable guarantee of PL safety in exchange for sour football and a reasonable guarantee of limited success beyond survival.

I can see why it's be attractive, but I'd start to wonder what the point of following football was after a while.

Sunderland tried to make it a competitive football match with Arsenal by equalising. What Sunderland forgot is they are embarrassing in a competitive football match, and Arsenal sat them back down to blast to a 4-1 lead

Sunderland normally find themselves near the bottom of the table, but this season they look down and out and Moyes seems to have dampened down their spirits. They can't be worse than Hull surely, but at least the Hull manager seems to have a bit of spirit about him.

As I've said before ibra started well but has now missed more good chances than goals scored, he's apparently missed a sitter today.

Definitely time to drop him also time to stop playing absolute crap like rojo and fellaini.

Darmian smalling blind shaw
Carrick Herrera
Lindgard mata martial
Rashford

Try to bring pereira into first team, get mhiktaryan in when he's fit enough for mata or lindgard. Pogba can make it a 3 man midfield when he sorts his head out and we can go:

Mata/mhiki rashford martial as a front 3.

To be fair, it sounds like Man United played well without taking chances. 72% possession, 30+ shots. Still took over when they had 10 men. Its not the worst way to be in crisis

Dyche is just delivering a wonderful post-match interview. Classy guy - basically said United were very good, kept coming at them and on another day without their goalkeeping performance they could have conceded a lot

Doesn't matter, it's Burnley at home - they've lost every other away game this season.

Referee has had a nightmare by all accounts, still should have been able to win in spite of that.

At this rate all Liverpool games will be shown on TV as they offer so many goals. Going forward they are very good. Defensively they seem very dodgy, though Matip looks a very good buy. Think we will finish top four but our defensive frailties will cost us any real chance of challenging for the title.

Good games to watch.

Problem for them is to tighten up they'll have to restrict themselves going forward.

I quite like Klopp.
Wouldn't mind seeing Liverpool win the league.

Been way way to long for them.
