Can't guarantee the first result I check is Ipswich's. Whenever their current half time score or result is read out it is met with boos/cheeers depending on what it is

I still know the Spurs results and the Wall results. I want Chelsea to lose every week too.

Absolutely gutted for him. Never even got a chance to get back into the first team. He's a nice guy and a very talented footballer but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ended up retiring.
I think that's his fourth serious knee injury? Although apparently this is a different injury on a different knee.
Klopp has said: ""It is typical of Danny's personality, on and off the pitch, that he picked up this injury to his knee when courageously trying to win the ball back for his team by making a tackle."

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
A bit late I know but...yay - first home win of the season!
Okay it was only against Bournemouth, but in the context of our season so far it feels like a major achievement.
On the flip side it still feels like it was a little bit lucky. Ramirez scored a worldie (in as much as he beat half the Bournemouth team single-handed before he scored) that was rather against the run of play.
Second goal was a genuine good bit of play, involving Traore who ran and passed to Negredo who unselfishly nodded down to give Downing a tap in.
Overall I think Bournemouth were actually the better team. They definitely shaded the first half and while Boro had the best of the second half, we were camped on our own 18 yard line for the last 15 minutes...against a 10 man team. Both sides created a few good chances.
Valdes was lucky not to get at least booked, if not sent off, for jumping with his knees up, almost catching a Bournemouth player in the face. Doubt it was intentional, but dangerous nonetheless. Both teams also had possible penalty shouts.
So, good result, but we still need to work on ball retention (ironically the visitors shaded possession), or at least not giving the ball away cheaply and in dangerous positions. We also need to be willing to work harder going forward, creating more of the sort of chances that led to the goals...and for pity's sake DON'T go into our shells when we have a man advantage and a 2 goal lead!

Don't know about retiring from football but i expect his liverpool career will effectively be over. Real shame. Good player who fits in well with the teams style of play. Gutted for the man. On the brightside for him though, his missus is an 11/10 so having her dress up as a nurse might dull the pain....

Andy Carroll threatened at gunpoint by men on motorbikes as he drove home from training. Sped off and outran them going back to the club.

I thought the criticism laid at Middlesbrough and their manager was premature. They haven't been in the Premiership for some time and now have away drawers at Arsenal and Man City. But of most interest is that they only have a goal difference of -2 whereas teams around them and below have worse goal differences. You have to go to tenth place to find a team with a better goal difference.
Sunderland win. Maybe this years relegation battle is going to be interesting. Will be interesting to see if Swansea can survive after their early manager change.

Swansea will get a morale boosting result tomorrow.
They'll need it as Bradley is clueless and has got his non American jobs essentially through nepotism.

It has on occasion. But my point is, it indicates Middlesbrough have a better balance between attack and defence, a more tighter game play, than other teams that are and will be relegation candidates.Good Golly I'm Olly wrote:Nore Staat wrote:I thought the criticism laid at Middlesbrough and their manager was premature. Chelsea 5 - 0 Everton. A surprising scoreline. They are currently above Man City in the table with a point more and a higher goal difference of +17. Chelsea are announcing themselves as serious challengers to the title.Just John wrote:Chelsea 4-0 Everton

Leaving 3 up top to counter seems to be the answer to the monopolise possession tactic.

Incredible result!
First half was awful to watch if you were a Boro fan, but we defended heroically for 40-odd minutes and Valdes played a blinder to limit City's advantage to a single goal. Not much we could have done about it - De Bruyne's pinpoint pass to Aguero and the finish were both top class.
Boro decided to try and play a bit second half and it was much less one-sided. City still able to dominate possession but we continued to defend well and crucially Valdes was much less involved.
We left it VERY late, but the build-up play to the goal was very good (by our standards). Fantastic cross by Friend and an impeccably timed run by De Roon to meet it, powering a header past Bravo. Actually the equaliser couldn't have been better timed, as if we'd had to hang on for 10 - 15 minutes City would likely have got a winner.
Karanka often gets flak for his negative and defensive tactics, but they were absolutely perfect for today.
Better sides than Boro will leave the Etihad with less. 3 games unbeaten now and they include draws against two title contenders. Could it be we are starting to find our feet in the PL? At least we no longer look like surefire relegation fodder.

Directly yes but imagine it makes a difference psychologically. Towards the end having better goal difference is like an extra point. Look at 13/14 Liverpool pushed to get better goal difference against Palace and ended up drawing putting significantly less pressure on City on the final day.

I think that's finding excuses for being poor.
If it's directly done it once then that's all the psychology that would be needed.

I wouldn't be surprised if Barcelona are taking a look at him as a long term Iniesta replacement. Don't see him fitting in at Real Madrid.
