The U20 game randomly starts at 20:30 too. There's no way they can turn off the Cardiff game early. What a farce.

Here's a nice piece on John Barclay, but by Welsh players who are his team mates at the Scarlets:

What a refreshingly open and honest piece. No minds games, just mutual respect from team mates - perhaps we could all learn a thing or two from that.

Living on a diet of BBC ScrumOne-Eyed, I imagine it's disconcerting to see Welsh players actually talking up someone who plays for the opposition.

Me too Radge, as I said earlier in the post. This is THE must win game of the tournament for me. Genuinely want to win this one more so than beating England.

Re: 6N 2017: Scotland vs Wales, 25th Feb
From a Scottish perspective beating Wales means:
1. It's not a false dawn anymore, the sun has finally risen on Scottish rugby after a horrific 17 years.
2. It'll prove we have finally turned a corner. Sure we won 2 games last season but Italy were a shambles and France weren't much better. Beating Ireland, and potentially Wales and definitley Italy will mean Cotter as led us out of the dark ages.
3. being confident can't hurt our chances at Twickers with their bags of money, bags of this and bags of that.
4. We are due one against Wales.
5. I can finally tell my dad to stop being a tiresome one eyed welsh armchair fan.

I also really really really want to beat Wales - more so than anyone.
It is nothing personal it is just about time we did and there have been so many close results over the years!

Re: 6N 2017: Scotland vs Wales, 25th Feb
Scotland have a great chance tomorrow.
Wales are remarkably light on effective ball carriers. Moriarty can tackle but is neither big or quick enough to make the hard yards. Ball is the only power player on the gainline. That and the welsh midfield being the slowest in Welsh history gives Scotland opportunities. Webb at SH will provide a big threat though, against his inexperienced opposite number.

I also wouldn't say we had that many more big ball carriers, especially with Strauss out and no number 8 on the bench.

Re: 6N 2017: Scotland vs Wales, 25th Feb
Whenever I watch Wales the midfield it is just so ponderous and only gets threatening once the ball eventually gets out to the wings.
Not sure the Scottish attacking gameplan is about ball carriers - is it ?

I think when you include Scott Williams, JD2 and North, we don't have huge ball carriers, but we have a lot of decent ones.
Warburton, Moriarty, Owens, Evans and Ball all carry a lot, but like Scotland, we tend to be better trying to carry around rather than through. That's why I think and hope tomorrow's game could be a cracker!

Hmmm, I agree our midfield isn't the quickest. But slowest in history for Wales surely has to be one that includes Jamie Roberts. Scott Williams is light years faster than Roberts. Roberts (on the bench) I genuinely think is slower than our two flankers and possible our hooker too.

Re: 6N 2017: Scotland vs Wales, 25th Feb
This Scotland team to me should be respected but not feared. I don't think their pack is up to much so I'm hoping Wales forwards can starve the Scottish backline possession.
I do hope though that Wales tactics of keeping the ball in play is abolished because Hogg has too much pace to give him too much time and space to run

Re: 6N 2017: Scotland vs Wales, 25th Feb
I'd have started Davies v Hogg. Biggar can't help himself with his counter kicking not to mention JD2. QED i expect we'll see more kicking to touch (so i would have started Charteris) and generally less kicking anyway; put turnover ball through the hands which could make the game exciting. I also think the Scots will come out to hammer us up front in the first third. Expect very high tempo route 1 stuff in the Scots pack and hope we can hold them within 10 points until the game opens up. Inevitably we''ll go behind in the first half.

Tackling optional in the U20s game by the looks of it. 100 points scored between the 2 sides over all!

Re: 6N 2017: Scotland vs Wales, 25th Feb
Wales had racked up two tries within eight minutes, more by individual skill than lack of Scottish defence. A third before half time, answered by two powerful Scottish tries.
Looks like wales have some very exciting players coming through.
As with the previous match, those players who have already experienced Regional rugby look a class above the rest, even if they aren't yet fulfilling their potential at regional level.
Great match to watch. The ladies game was a thriller too. Harsh to lose so late on but the scots had some canny backs.
And now for the big one in Edinburgh.
