Same Tim Cymru v J'ai une tour Eiffel dans mon pantalon
Welsh squad remains the same for the showdown in Paris.
Would have swapped over Halfpenny and Williams personally
Halfpenny, North, Davies, S William, L Williams; Biggar, Webb; Evans, Owens, Francis, Ball, AW Jones (capt), Warburton, Tipuric, Moriarty.
Replacements: Baldwin, Smith, Lee, Charteris, Faletau, G Davies, S Davies, Roberts.
French team announced
Dulin - Nakaitaci, Fickou, Lamerat, Vakatawa - Lopez, Serin - Gourdon, Picamoles, Sanconnie - Maestri, Vahaamahina - Slimani, Guirado, Baille.
Les remplaçants : Chat, Atonio, Ben Arous, Le Devedec, Chouly, Trinh-Duc, Dupont, Huget

So would everyone who has ever watched these two play.
1/2p stats as a fullback have been awful for a while, Williams would offer more of a threat whilst still being solid at 15.

Halfpenny doesn't seem that good under the high ball anymore either, so that's one less string to his bow. Does he have the pace for wing though? Genuine be question. I haven't seen him run much of late so can't tell!

He always used to - remember him in the 2011 RWC against Fiji ? Burned down the wing whilst adjusting his scrum cap.
Hes certainly faster than other wingers out there.

Re: Same Tim Cymru v J'ai une tour Eiffel dans mon pantalon
Last 5 years or so it's always been surprising just how pants France are. Looking at their team again, still can't explain it. So much talent in there.
Re: Same Tim Cymru v J'ai une tour Eiffel dans mon pantalon
Sanconnie (2nd cap) didn't really have a great game against Italy so am a bit worried about how he will look against Warburton and Tipuric.
This is the game we really should win to show progress as Wales has been France kryptonite in the last 6 years. But I fear that Team Wales will probably be way too nicely organised in defense and well drilled for France who wont find ways to score tries as usual. Really need some serious home refereeing to help us win that one.

May change if there are less teams in the S14 and less money to buy foreign imports. The French players will get used to playing with each other more.

Really looking forward to it, could be a cracker. Scotland have finally broken their duck against us, no reason you can't

A bit off topic, but anyone know why some posts are highlighted in a darker blue? Every post is either light blue and then a slightly darker blue, alternating. But some are a much darker blue like mine above! It seems random.

It's not just because it's my own post, as far as I can tell. I first noticed it on other people's posts.

I believe the issue would be, who is the next wing of the rank to take the spot of Williams ?
If Halfpenny is playing wing, I don't think he has the same edge he had when he burst onto the seen in attack.

I'd say Hewitt, Giles or Evans but they haven't had any exposure yet.
We also have Amos to come back in.

Eli Walker burst on the scene &! then seemed to stall. Now he's out for the season & other guys looked to have leapfrogged him in the pecking order. Shame I always liked the look of him.

I know the answer to this.
It is because the writer of this thread has clicked on the "thanks" tab when somebody has replied.
You only get that option if you create an article.

You might have clicked it instead of "quote". They are right next to each other, and they are in the same style.

A close first half of absolutely brutal collisions.
As for the second half, that's a bit of a roulette!

Regarding the argument L williams Full Back.
Halfpenny on the wing.
I have thought for a long time, the only reason Halfpenny is in the team is purly for his goal kicking. It as nothing to do with his skills at full back.

Re: Same Tim Cymru v J'ai une tour Eiffel dans mon pantalon
Maj, Halfpenny has a number of excellent skills for a fullback. Perhaps 4 out of 5 skills needed for a good modern fullback. He has (perhaps not so good currently) been extremely good under the high ball; he has always been a great last line of defense, perhaps sometimes putting himself in harms way a bit too much; his positional awareness is also very good when anticipating a kick through or a punt down field. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He's also very good at finishing close range tries. As in, he can beat a man at close range and squeeze in down the wing very well. He's got a decent boot too. The one skill he seems to lack is the ability to attack from deep as players like Hogg, L Williams, Beale, all NZ fullbacks, etc. can do. Some say it's the game plan but others in the Welsh team seem to do it so I'm not sure.
So he's got lots of top notch skills for a fullback, IMO. Just not all skills. Other world international FBs have the attacking but perhaps not the defence. Very few are awesome at all FB roles. I'd personally prefer Liam W as I prefer a more rangy runner. But he's there for more than just kicking goals. Sadly though some of the above and his goal kicking are a little off this season so that's more reason for Liam at FB for me.

I dont think any thought has gone into that at all which is hardly surprising.
You clearly know nothing about why else he brings to the FB role and are purely on the Liam at 15 bandwagon

Re: Same Tim Cymru v J'ai une tour Eiffel dans mon pantalon
This game is possibly the most predictable of the weekend. France will own possession for about 30 mins and bash away ineffectually at the welsh defence not scoring any tries. Possibly two penalties to go 6-0 up. They will then turnover the ball circa 30-35 mins whereupon Tupuric will run the length of the field offloading to Webb to score under the posts. Halffarthing will tack on a penalty just before halftime (after some brainfart from a French forward). In the second half France will get another penalty early doors to bring it back to one point. Whereupon Wales will then score three more tries in the last 20 mins to win 31-9. Simples

If you say so.
His positioning is impeccable and he's one of the best defensive FB's on the planet - laughably better than Brown.
He's lost a little confidence in the air and yes, I wish he was more creative in attack and stuck a little less to the gameplan but I to say hes just there for point kicking illustrates that a) You lack even the most basic rugby knowledge or b) you are a WUM.
Im going with a little of both.

It will be an attritional battle but I think if our defense holds out then our fitness will win it.
Ideally we'll get a few points ahead at some point and their heads will go down.
We need much better discipline than we had against Ireland though.

Interesting stat - Picamoles has carried for 302 metres, 54% of that over the gain line!
A few of the FBs have similar metres but 33% or less over the gain line.

Fair play to both. They've both had good tournaments, particularly Ken who has now gone from possible Lions tourist to possible test starter over the past few weeks.

Yeah I wrote Ken off before the tournament but fair play to the bloke for proving me wrong. He's been very good and I agree that he could be a lions starter if he continues this playing form.
