Golovkin v Jacobs
Not sure if anyone is staying up for this as I guess it's pretty much a guaranteed GGG win. Same goes for Gonzalez I guess
But if you are you can keep me company
All my Irish mates are tipping Michael Conlan to go all the way after last night in MSG
I think winning in rugby today and stopping and English Triple Crown and Grandslam has gone to their heads personally
Anyway...after the Haye v Bellew shambles here's to a good night of boxing
Regards

Won't get the chance to see it but expecting a fairly easy night for GGG. I like Jacobs but a weak chin isn't what you want when fighting GGG.
Enjoy though mate!
Will read up on the thread in the morning.

Fighting hard with sleep after a long day but true to form should perk up as it draws in.
I feel like the opinions on dj's chin are a bit exaggerated but none the less i think he'll start well but ggg wears him down and gets the late, on his feet tko.
Eubank is allegedly "after the winner" biro finally found?

Re: Golovkin v Jacobs
I just read that Jacobs won't be fighting for the IBF version of the middleweight title tonight as he didn't participate in the day of the fight weigh in.
I didn't even know that the IBF had a second weigh in for their title fights. Apparently, they have a rule where the fighter cannot weigh in 10lbs more than the weight limit for the fight, which in this case was 160lb.
Congratulations for this rule. The IBF just shot up a long way in my estimation.

Re: Golovkin v Jacobs
Personally thought Gonzales was hard done by
Yes rungvisai was amazing, gonzales was always the one picking the best shots think he did enough to win at least 6 rounds
Anyways great fight sure we'll see a rematch, gonzales may need to move down in weight though
Let's hope for more of the same with the main evemt

Tense opening 2 rounds, not much action yet Jacob's moving nicely
Guess both guys have 90% KOs so no surprise that they don't want to make a mistake

Re: Golovkin v Jacobs
Been a decent fight so far. Reckon if you're kind you could give Jacobs the first three rounds. But he got knocked down in the fourth. Looks like it's the beginning of his trip to emergency care.

Got it even after 6, gave the first one even think Jacobs has won the 2nd 3rd and 6th, GGG evens it up te KD

Re: Golovkin v Jacobs
Through six you could either have Jacobs 4-2 for a 57-56 Jacobs scorecard, or you could have it 3-3 meaning GGG is up 57-56

GGG guilty of head hunting......he's landing some good shots but if he invested in the body Jacobs may not be moving as freely as he currently is

Re: Golovkin v Jacobs
Jacobs boxed well but didn't really engage in big drama show.
I'd give it to the champ. GGG by a couple for me.
Can see a draw but can't see a Jacobs win. Boxed very very well though.

Re: Golovkin v Jacobs
The way I saw it was Jacobs managed to snap GGG head back most rounds, GGG was hitting arms mostly
As I said it's close I have it even....and I gave the first (probs a Jacobs round) as even

GGG takes it
115-112 x2
114-113
Hats off to Jacobs, I'm sure he'll try get a rematch
A little bit if the aura maybe taken of GGG? Hopefully canelo will fancy himself now

Re: Golovkin v Jacobs
they should rematch. Canelo doesn't beat either of these two. He lacks the height and size which Jacobs had to nullify him, and if Jacobs chin is as good as it looked here, I'm not sure how Canelo wins 7 out of 12 rounds against him?
Seems two of the judges had it like me, with Golovkin winning the final round. First time in my life I've scored a fight this well. Frak Yeah!

GGG is so odd. "I'm like Animal for Canelo"
"I want decision fight so won't destroy Jacobs i respect his team"
Funny.

Re: Golovkin v Jacobs
One thing I noticed tonight was GGG really doesn't have an inside game, he seemed to tuck up a lot think he was bothered by the body shots
He probably beats canelo down, but canelo is a hell of a fighter especially in the pocket and particularly to the body
But I do think Jacobs is the harder fight, big quick middleweight

he never turned up for the pre fight IBF weight check which meant the IBF wasn't on the line

Well there's a surprise. Can't weigh people on the television, but he's about the same height as Kovalev, who weighs 180-185lbs on fight night. Think he looked about the size Kovalev does fight night

Looks like I missed a great nights boxing. I'll have to watch it on catch up later. Incidentally a lot of pros appear to have scored it to Jacobs. So really interested in seeing it with my own eyes.
Either way it appears the miricale man lives up to his name again.

Re: Golovkin v Jacobs
Just watched the fight on You Tube, Jacobs fought a smart fight imo and frustrated GGG but imo the latter won a close but clear decision. Credit to Golovkin beating a guy who as others have already commented looked at least two weights above, fight night weights might make interesting reading.
I think GGG v Canelo is a great match, I think Alvarez can take enough from his own skillset, this and the Brook fight to give GGG a hell of a fight.

Haven't seen the fight. No doubt many will use this as a stick to beat GGG. I won't, because Jacobs is a very good fighter, that has been on a great run. I did predict GGG to break him after a tough start.
Jacobs Is a very big strong mw. I hope Canelo fights GGG and the winner faces Jacobs. Looking forward to watching this.
Be nice to see GGG in a close fight.
