Andy Farrell rumoured to be taking job at Sale.
First topic message reminder :
This possibility was raised by JB on the Eggchasers podcast but he did stress that no-one at Sale has mentioned it to him.
Steve Diamond would move upstairs in this scenario. No idea what would happen to his Ireland post.
With his stock high after the Lions tour, Farrell must have some options on the table, so it depends where his ambitions lie. Mike Ford went from defence coach to club coach (with mixed results) while Shaun Edwards has stuck with Wales. If Farrell fancies a crack with England again, perhaps even the top job, then the best shop window would probably be a club coaching role.

Have to give Farrell Sr some credit,on reflection he's done pretty well since leaving England. Better than I expected.
I don't think Farrell Sr should work for Diamond though.
Looking at the tries conceded table of 2016-17 can have the pick of any club bar Saracens.
I believe the smart option would be Quins or Bath.
Newcastle certainly could use a defence coach too.
Yes we certainly do as John Wells is currently performing too much forwards and defence!
However would three Egos / very strong characters work well together? - Dean Richards, John Wells and Andy Farrell

I think Farrell got a lot of criticism because Farrell Jnr seemed to be favoured and everyone believed that Farrell was pulling Lancaster's strings.
Farrell spent a couple of months with Munster as a consultant and the staff and players seem to really rate him. Similarly with Lancaster with Leinster, he is getting the credit for Leinster's improvement.
Munster are looking for a new Director of Rugby and I don't think any of the fans would be unhappy if it was him.

I think Farrell got a lot of stick in England because of the home world cup debacle. We were woeful and with stories of Catt storming out of selection meetings because of alleged arguments with Farrell and denied comments by an England international that he'd never been coached by Lancaster it was Farrell that took the sessions. Farrell took the blame for the on field performances (including the Burgess is a centre routine) whilst Lancaster took the blame for not having stronger management of his coaches nor the bravery to move the coaching staff around (it was blatantly obvious to everyone that Gustard is the best defence coach in the NH and that England needed his input, Eddie Jones first appointment).
Farrell does seem a genuine bloke and he seems to set the tone well in the environment. Teams he is involved in are hard working and aggressive. I think he's a good fit for Munster and could do well there. That is exactly the kind of job that if he made a success of would elevate him to the top level of coaches and put him in consideration for the top jobs in Europe. To make a success of a head coach role at a club like Munster he'll have to show some tactical cunning which was lacking when he was with England.

Sin e I think in general, Farrell Sr was well justified to pick Farrell Jr, that particular selection hasn't worked out too badly overall.
I actually think Farrell Sr is more criticised for being allegedly one of the key figures alongside Lancaster championing Burgess as a ex rugby league player and effectively ruining him.
I'd also say shifting Barritt to outside centre in the RWC, seems like the kind of thing, Farrell Sr would champion. Basically finishing off his international career too.
Defence isn't a Munster issue though. On the contrary I don't think Farrell Sr and Munster are a good fit because they don't need him.
A team like Quins or Newcastle could do with him though I'd say.
Geordiefalcon perhaps not but if he gelled he could add a lot I feel. 73 tries conceded last season might be the most ever for Newcastle in the AP. That's pretty shocking.
Sam you summed it up better than me.

And yet we still had a good season! Ironically sometimes our defence is a steel wall nevermind a brick one. The problem is too many lapses in concentration and we concede stupid tries.
Andy Farrell would shore that up immediately. Doubt we'll be close to getting him though.
We do need a defence coach though...we've been saying it for a while now.

He played at 13 in 2014 (with 36 at 12), no idea if he got MotM though.

Basically won it for tackling until he bled but yeah. I agree there was plenty wrong with the WC though I blame that more on going back to he pack and jot trusting the backs who were tending to pull us out of holes at that time. Bottled it once Joseph got injured, wish they'd have gone with slade and barritt as that at least looks balanced on paper.
