………………………………………Onyekuru………………………………..
Subs: Bardaji, Bunuel, Biraschi, Granero, Alena, Leandrinho, , Borja
Today is all about fast paced wing play forcing the opposition backwards and keeping their own FB’s from venturing forwards – Wanyama and Illarra are key today as they will hold the middle ground – Illarra will finally show why he’s the “new Xabi Alonso” whilst Wanyama is the muscle in the engine room that all the top teams need.
Our front four is just pure pace, Onyekuru may not be well known but top scored in Belgium and earnt a move to Everton so they must see something in him.
Our backline is pretty decent – Inigo Martinez is the experienced head in that defence and will talk Brasilian Lyanco through the game – our CM’s are solid enough so Emerson and young Milanista, Calabria can push forward at will giving us much needed width.
Subs 65 mins fresh legs:
Leandrinho > Oyarzabal
Borja > Onyekuru

GAMEPLAN
Up against Sociedad who will be tough test as they have some dangerous players we need to watch out for. Gonna be packing the midfield with some b2b players who will help both in attack and defence. I want Cyprien and Bentancur to help our fullbacks in defending duties against the pacy Vela and Oyarzabal, as they will be the main threat.
DEFENCE
Orban to mark their main striker and Vallejo to do covering. Fullbacks make overlapping runs and get crosses into the box. Tousart's main role defend and cut passing lanes and close down attackers. Cyprien, Onomah and Bentancur will be playing as b2b and will help both attack and defence. Make runs forward and play quick one twos to create space in middle. CM's to drift out wide and get crosses in occasionally.
ATTACK
Keita to play quick passes with teammates and make runs into box. Kane to play as proper old school number 9. Get on end of crosses and use expert poacher skills to get goals.
SUBS

- Nice:

Klostermann——Holding——Mere---------------Dalbert
---------------Seri—Koziello-----Bakayoko———————
Mboula———————Werner————————Dembele
Subs: Augustin, Nkunku, Mere, Gomes, Sarr, Meite, Saint-Maximin
Atalanta tend to play a 3 man defence so against this we’re operating a 433 formation in which Werner is playing a false striker role to drag markers out of positions and open up spaces for our wide strikers.
In midfield they’ve lost their brain in Montolivo, so whilst we expect a physical battle (where we then excel) we also can play out of midfield with Koziello pulling strings. Bakayoko as B2B, take the ball forward and swamp their defence. Seri enforce, break down their attacks.
FBs keep their wingers on the wrong foot and block crosses, Holding & Mere to play out to the flanks, don’t be drawn out of position, retain discipline.
Mboula & Dembele to avoid hitting balls into the box due their height but instead hit diagonal through balls and also run into the space Werner’s movement creates.
70m – Meite > Seri, take over role of enforcer
80m – Saint-Maximin > Mboula, fresh legs on the flanks.

Subs: Gollini, Spinazzola, Toloi, D’Alessandro, Melegoni, Pesic, Pinamonti.
Barz and Caldara with will also cover the width allowing Mor and Conti to stay as far forward as possible. Silva will be the man to mark the central striker. We want fast diagonals coming out of our defence by-pass the midfield and hit our front-five on the fly.
Monty and Freuler have a simple task today – sit infront of the defence and act as a shield, with the ball we want them pinging them wide as quickly as possible, we want to hit Nice, nice and fast on the break.
Mor and Conti will track back as far as half-way no further, both are good going forwards and we want them really stretching the pitch, both stay wide at all times keep Nice’s FB’s busy.
Papu is a proper #10 today and will look to feed Kelechi and Rashford who will use their pace and power to really exploit any gaps in Nice’s defence.
Subs 65 mins:
D’Alessandro > Freuler
Toloi > Barzagli

TACTICS
Tricky game against Torino. We have set up to counter their main threat on the right hand side. Evans holding a narrow position, not allowing Robben to cut inside, and Grimaldo is to watch Alves's overlapping runs. Stand off their midfield a little, allowing them to keep it in deeper positions, but block off passes to the wingers and Silva. Skriniar and Semedo I feel is the best pairing, Skriniar more technical so want him to be the main marker of Silva, Semedo covering as the quicker defender.
Murphy to make the most of his pace advantage over Plattenhardt, hog the touchline and stretch them out, and Byram joining in. This creates more space for Deeney, and for Philipp to play between their defense and midfield. Tolisso should get forward in his box to box role, take shots from range and picking passes.
SUBSTITUTIONS (70’)
Winning – Livermore and Zakaria for Bender and Murphy, move to 5-3-2 with fresh midfield legs.
Losing – Fletcher and Livermore for Bender and Evans. Move Philipp LW in a 4-4-2.
- Torino:
- • 29 Junior Tavares 170k
• Victor Jensen - 0k
• 12 Andre Moreria 850k
• 9 Andrea Belotti - 25.5m*
----------------Ederson
------Pepe----De Rossi----Chiellini
Alves---Dahoud----Benassi---Plattenhardt
----Robben------Silva--------Falque-----
Savic, Trent, Jagielka, Baselli, Harit, Ljajic, Terrier
We have brought out the 343 this week, but we are going to press our arses off tonight, dont let the opposition have a breather at any point. We will also aim the keep the tempo as high when we have the ball, get the ball out to the the front 3 quickly. De Rossi will have licence to join the midfield if they look like they are getting outnumbered. The wingers will be using their pace and trickery to cut inside and try to draw their full backs inside, let our full backs bomb on, as they both have the energy to get back quickly, which will force either the opposition wingers to track back and stifle their attacking play, or leaving the defence outnumbered. When defending, we will hunt in packs, allow De Rossi to step into midfield to join the pressing if needs be.
Subs - 60 mins
If we are winning we will bring on Ljajic and Baselli for Falque and Benassi and purely counter attack, if we are drawing or losing we will bring on Ljajic for Plattenhardt, with the wing backs staying forward.
- Ajax:
- -----------------------Krul
Passlack----Sanchez------Ake-----Stafylidis
---------------Motta-------Dembele
-Dembele----------Ceballos---------Traore
---------------------Mbappe
Subs - Boer, Sinkgraven, Veltman, Locatelli, Ziyech, Fornals, Kluivert
They're missing two of their main forwards and Romeu in midfield - look to dominate them physically in midfield with Dembele prominent, and back our CBs to handle their attack.
Dembele to start out wide, but to be the main support for Mbappe with Passlack overlapping him and Ceballos drifting around. Traore to hold his width and stretch their defence.
Mbappe to play as the lead striker nominally, but can switch with Dembele/Traore to offer varying threats and challenge their left back
Motta is the deepest midfielder, he'll look to drop in to Passlack's position if he gets caught upfield. Dembele play the box to box role he is known for
Sanchez pick up the main striker, De Ligt cover. Stafylidis primarily in a defensive role as we think they're bigger threat is on the right wing.
Subs
Winning at 70 - swap Locatelli/Ziyech in for energy in the midfield and control, play on the counter
Losing at 70 - push Dembele up top, Kluivert for width and Motta to the bench - Ceballos/Dembele as a creative force in the middle
- Celta Vigo:
- ---------------Blanco
Trippier--Llorente---Gibson---Castro
------------Chalobah---Grujic
Castillejo-----Hernandez---Bongonda
---------------Sandro
Carter-Vickers, Trippier, Winks, Vieira, Mina, Guidetti, Kamano
We stick with the 4-2-3-1 this week, but with different tactics. The plan is for fullbacks to push further forward, to overload the opposition on the flanks, with Chalobah slotting in at CB when this happens, to compensate. Grujic will then play the DM, and look to break up the play, frustrating the opposition through the middle. Hernandez will play a play maker role, spreading the ball wide, or pinging balls over the top for Sandro to run onto. When the defence pick up the ball then they should look to spread it out wide, or play it into Hernandez
The attacking trio are all pacey players, who are capable of running at the opposition. The wingers have license to be direct, with the fullbacks overlapping to keep the opposition out wide. This means that our three attackers should be concentrating on running at the opposition’s CBs, whilst the full backs keep their opposite numbers occupied.
Subs
65 mins
Mina replaces Bongonda
Winks replaces Grujic
Some fresh legs in key positions who both play the same role.
70 mins
Kamano on for Castillejo
Fresh legs out wide.
