Glasgow and The Disapproving Neighbours 18 At Last! Whose Round is it?
I'll Put A Funny Sub-Title Here
Insert funny image here, probably of a genuine Glaswegian; none of your See-an Canary nonsense here.
Insert an image summing up the pretentiousness of Luvviedom. Grant Gilchrist in a kilt eating shortbread?
Add some statistics; time elapsed, in decades, since Ickle Jonny missed a tackle. Time elapsed, in eons, since someone stayed awake for the whole 80 minutes at the Library.
Make some witty banterish comment to start the ball rolling.
See! How hard was that?

Admin Boy may feel free to update the title as soon as he has followed my instructions and inserted the appropriare images, statistics and witty banterish type comment. But not before. It's time he earned his salt.

Darcy Graham is apparently out for the next 8 weeks with an ACL injury. I''m assuming it's only a minor tear, but he'll need to be careful until that heals, don't want that to become a full snap.

That also perhaps explains Cockers' desire to keep Fife and Farndale etc.
He's a young lad so I'm sure he'll bounce back - just a shame he's missing the period with dry, hard pitches and will be returning in the middle of winter!

Re: Glasgow and The Disapproving Neighbours 18 At Last! Whose Round is it?
No Glasgow thread?
Callum Gibbins will make his debut in Dave Rennie’s first game at Scotstoun Stadium this Saturday as Glasgow Warriors take on the Ospreys in the Guinness PRO14, kick-off 3.15pm, live on Sky Sports Arena.
Gibbins, who arrived from Super Rugby side the Hurricanes this summer, starts at open-side flanker, the same position he played for the Wellington side against the British & Irish Lions back in June.
The 28-year old scored a try in the 31-31 thriller and his opponent in red that day, Finn Russell, returns to Warriors colours this weekend starting at fly-half.
Joining Gibbins in the back-row is captain Ryan Wilson and Man of the Match against Connacht, Adam Ashe.
The tight-five is the same which started the game in Galway. Jamie Bhatti, George Turner, Zander Fagerson, Tim Swinson and Scott Cummings all packing down.
Try scorer and creator at the Sportsgrond, Ali Price partners Finn Russell in the half backs as Peter Horne moves outside to join Alex Dunbar at centre.
Rory Hughes comes into the back-three alongside Ruaridh Jackson and Lee Jones, who also got on the scoreboard last Saturday.
On the bench Pat MacArthur, Brian Alainu’uese and Nick Grigg are all included for the first time this season.
The last remaining standing tickets for the game are available HERE.
Glasgow Warriors Head Coach, Dave Rennie said: “It's important that we create competition for places. We’ve got a big group of men who have been working really hard and it’s exciting for us to get a look at them under a bit of heat.
“Being in charge of my first home game will be really special. I’ve heard a lot about it, we’ve got great support here and I’m expecting the supporters to be really vocal.
“Finn (Russell) is a special player, he’s excited and has been working really hard. I’ve coached some pretty good 10s around the world and I think Finn could be as good as anyone. I’m looking forward to seeing him run the ship tomorrow.
“Callum (Gibbins) is in fantastic nick. I know the boys here are loving him, he’s a leader and has a fantastic work ethic. He’ll be really physical on the weekend; I know how pumped he is. It’s not easy to leave New Zealand but he’s totally committed and the fans will love him, and his mullet!”
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that centre Paddy Kelly has successfully undergone ankle surgery at BMI Ross Hall Hospital following an injury sustained playing for Glasgow Hawks in the BT Premiership last weekend.
He is expected to be out of action for around 12-16 weeks. Glasgow Warriors would like to thank the staff at BMI Ross Hall Hospital for their quick consultancy.

Rennie in his intro to this weeks game sais that he thought that George Turner was the best player on the field for Glasgow in the Connacht game.
I loved his quote 'Edinburgh must have some pretty good hookers if he was not getting any game time over there'
It does seem a bit of a mystery that he was so overlooked during his time there. Still we are very happy to take him off you and turn him into a proper international player.

You have got to say on the strength of the first two games this season, Adam Ashe is putting himself strongly back into Scotland squad contention.
Loved the way that after taking the interception from Sam Davies, he nonchalantly handed him off before romping in from 50m out. Definitely the moment of the match!

On the quality of Turner, Edinburgh obviously backed McInally instead. Based on his lineout work yesterday, this is not looking like a great decision!

I was very pleased with the comments made by both Cockerill and Rennie after the games. Nice tosee them want to aim high. cockers especially seems to be just what Edinburgh need. After years of rubbish coaches in Scotland its good to finally have some decent ones.
Good performances as well and nice to see some young scots playing well.

Not quite sure what that is supposed to mean? Do you mean Edinburgh as opposed to Scotland ? Warriors have had a number of good coaches thank you very much - not least Gregor T who you may have noticed is the new national team head coach.

Aye - mainly the Scotland team and Edinburgh. Glasgow have not had such awful coaches but the national team had 20 years of rubbish coaches and Edinburgh have hardly had a decent one. to have 3 top class coaches now is a vast improvement

I've just seen a photie of the John Lewis Garden Centre and Wedding Fayre at Myreside.
A great place to go if you want a pint of prosecco and a crème de menthe chaser.

Two very popular choices of beverage at Edinburgh home games so I have heard!

Hugely touched by the rugby community reaction but got out of hospital yesterday, there is a fracture in my neck but it's stable and all movement is back so I'm a very lucky boy. However I think that is my season over

Yeah I have just been informed by a "journalist" that is 12 years to the day on Saturday that the Jonny Mitchell incident happened which was also in Hawick. Spooky.
I did it by carrying the ball into contact going underneath the tackler so all the pressure from me and the tacklers weight went on my neck as I hit the ground.
Still waiting on further medical advice from the hospital so can't categorically say too much but thanks for the best wishes 606

Yes, yes, yes but it's not even remotely funny.
There must be some standards somewhere otherwise we end up with the likes of Ryan Grant, Al Kellock and George Turner being told they'll never make it as forwards.

Still waiting on further medical advice from the hospital so can't categorically say too much but thanks for the best wishes 606
Here's to a speedy recovery Craig

I believe this is Craig S who is a poster on here (and Chris Dean's biggest cheerleader!)
If it is then Craig I'm really sorry to hear you've been injured but delighted to hear it's not as bad as first feared - I hope you get out of hospital soon and make a swift recovery!
Thanks GC and RDW
Yeah that is me and unfortunately you guys will have to put up with a lot more of my cheerleading over the next few weeks as I can't do a lot apart from sit on the internet !
Hugely touched by the rugby community reaction but got out of hospital yesterday, there is a fracture in my neck but it's stable and all movement is back so I'm a very lucky boy. However I think that is my season over
Rugby is a stupid game isn't it...
Jeez Craig, glad you're ok and look to be on the mend. Bloodee frightening thing to happen on the rugby field. North Berwick know this more than most with the sad incident that happened to Jonny. There must have been a few at the club praying that history wasn't going to repeat itself!

Craig, during your recovery phase if you fancy coming through to watch the one true rugby team at Scotstoun give us a post on here and I will try to source a ticket (admittedly this is becoming harder and harder but I will try). Honestly we wouldn't torment you for being a Luvvie and it is always fun - in a not always full contact way - waah -hey !
Seriously dude get better soon.

Re: Glasgow and The Disapproving Neighbours 18 At Last! Whose Round is it?
I've played many positions on the rugby field but I've never played hooker! I'd never want to play hooker! Having spent most of my "career" either as a lock or a prop (yes, that's how amateur rugby works), I'd never want to play hooker.
I've been a tighthead prop and a loosehead and each time a scrum went down you can either flop to the side and land on your shoulder or put your left or right arm down to break the fall and land in a reasonably safe position.
The hooker though can't flop to the side as there's a chunky fella on either side stopping him and he can't put his arm out as it's jammed behind the chunky fella on either side. It's then face first into the ground.
With players getting bigger and bigger, I still predict that at some point in time, the front row will be reduced to two men to prevent the poor sod in the middle having to use his head to break a fall!

Edinburgh Rugby have signed BT Sport Academy graduate Cameron Fenton on a one-year deal following a successful trial with the club.
The versatile Strathallan School product, 21, can play at both hooker and prop and will provide cover across the Edinburgh front-row for the 2017/18 season.
Fenton - who began his career with Howe of Fife before enjoying a successful spell with Stirling County - had previously been a part of the Glasgow Warriors set-up, with whom he made his Guinness PRO12 (now PRO14) debut against Munster in February 2016.
In July 2016, he was one of five players to join English Championship side London Scottish.
Edinburgh Head Coach, Richard Cockerill, said: “Cammy has shown during his short spell with the club that he is able to perform at a high level.
“He’s a talented young Scottish player so it’s good to have him on board for the rest of the season.”
He's a young Scottish lad but can't help but think we're starting to scrape the barrel a bit!
