I just think you should be performing better for longer to earn the call up. Getting selected for England should be difficult and players should need to work hard for it, and even harder to stay in the squad.
Might make a difference to the team's performance if it wasn't so easy to get selected.
It's easy to say that, but if Southgate picks the same names again then people will have a go and say it's too much based on legacy and not current form. He can't win because he doesn't have the pool to pick from.
It kind of reminds me of our games. there's some other leagues which rely too much on legacy ratings, but on the other hand on here in the past we've been too quick to say players are over the hill IMO.

Re: Challenge League Homepage II
I agree with the devalued caps bit, but think that's different from a call up
In an ideal world, with a competent coach and a strong established core of 16-18 players, I would be happy for a couple of very promising youngsters being brought into the squad - give them the experience of the England set up, but they aren't going to play
They almost have something to aspire to in this scenario
It works very well in rugby, with NZ and England using it most notably on kids who are never going to start the Test matches, but are seen as future superstars
Obviously with the clown we currently have in charge, its not really a step up from the club environment

I just think its a slight cop-out giving it to Southgate...I think the national manager should be someone who has achieved something in domestic football.....bit hard to inspire winners when you've done feck all other than a Pizza hut advert

Just looked at our Euro 96 squad and ages. Surprisingly young. Most of them were under 25.

Lemmings it is then. Remember you want to pick the most obscure answer. Lowest total wins. A wrong answer gets a 10 point penalty. Answers pmed to me.
1. A day of the week
2. A word in the first line of "God Save the Queen"
3. A film directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp
4. A country of mainland South America
5. A Non English footballer who has scored 100 Premier League goals or more
6. A US president in the last 50 years
7. Black or White?

Prefer not to Google but not like I would know either way. I thought I picked questions that have fairly obvious answers
Just remember that if a lot of you pick obscure answers after Googling you will end up with a high score. So it may not help
Good luck Marky

Pretty pleased with this with all the transfer rumours going around. Even though I dont have a star player anymore. Playing Zlatan up front and hope Lukakus dry patch continues!
