He's a funny one, as there's times when di Francesco appears to prefer playing Florenzi out of position at RB

I rated Neres over him but problem is like we discussed before......Neres plays in the Dutch league. So is it quality of opponents or quality of player.

Leagues in rating for the most part

Tier 1 - La Liga, EPL, Seria A, Ligue 1, Bundesliga
Tier 2 - Portugese, Holland, Russia,
Tier 3 - China,Brazil,Turkey, Belgium, Ukraine,
Tier 4 - Everywhere else
Tier 5 - Scotland

Both.

I think if you are looking for potential value boosts for future windfalls, then the French league is the better. The Dutch league is littered with examples of players performing well, but the value increase not coming.

Neres is a good example of this. He has been seen as high potential for a year at least, but he never gets a big increase. His value now is what it will probably stay at unless he moves to a bigger league or rips it up in Europe.

I'd perhaps still have Ligue 1 just below the big four in a tier of its own.

If you dropped Ligue 1, You'd have to drop the Bundesliga cos Ligue 1 is more competitive then Bundesliga really. Plus Neymar/Cavani/Fekir would make most PL sides etc

and me the french league for all the talent is still the level below..mainly because all the talent ends up leaving france (or signing for Monaco/PSG) don't think there's enough quality in that league

I'd say last year's Monaco win is more an anomaly and normal service resumes again, the season before PSG wrapped up by March. The drop off to dross in Ligue 1 is huge, there's 9 clubs on Transfermarkt that have squad values less than £50m, there's 1 Bundesliga.

I agree that Ligue 1 would be on a level of its own underneath the big 4, but better than Portugal, Holland and Russia.

The quality gap between the top and bottom is crazy. The top are competitive CL teams (and potential winners in the case of PSG), but the bottom is bottom of the Championship standard. You only have to see the likes of Bristol City buying the leading strikers from these teams to see that

Difficult situation really. Malcom > Neres I can agree with. Not my personal opinion but bow down to knowkedge on here.

I think we agree Silva > Malcolm so gotta lose to win I suppose. Thought with Kluivert and Neres I had the cover to do it. Saying that I would update Neres when I can but I got other areas I need to strengthen.

Good fun this Laugh

Playing well in the PL for me beats anything, as there's more exposure.
Bundesliga and La Liga which are just behind
Then Ligue 1 and Serie A on a par.

Happy to be agreed with slated on those opinions.

TM Values are irrelevant in this though It still thinks Jordan Henderson is a £25m player Laugh.  The irony of saying France isn't as competitive yet since 08/09 6 different sides have won it yet Bundesliga had 3.

France competitive sides - PSG, Monaco, Marseille, Lyon on occasions Montpellier, Lille, Nice, Rennes, Bordeaux,
Germany - Bayern, Dortmund, Leipzig, on occasions - Schalke,Leverkusen,Wolfsburg & Gladbach.

There's not really that much between them quality wise both have a stand out side then people that make up the rest of the runners that alternate yearly Laugh

If splitting in that detail, I'd go

PL, La Liga
Bundesliga, Serie A
Ligue 1

I reckon 1st vs 1st down to 20th vs 20th for PL and La Liga would be very close in terms of overall record, and the same for Bundesliga and Serie A

Any of the 4 would beat Ligue 1 in the same way

There may be a few Henderson like anomalies but overall TM is a decent enough guide to compare the leagues. Yes since 08/09 there's been different winners but going forward it's looking more and more a 1 horse race.

Here's a comparison of the league values:

Challenge League Homepage III - Page 9 League10

Shows the Premier League overall is the most competitive with 6 fairly equal sides which I don't think anyone can argue with. Ligue 1 with the biggest drop between top and the rest, PSG as a single club has a value more than the bottom 14 clubs combined.

Im not sure it's possible to dumb it down any further but ill take a shot at it Laugh Despite the "Lack of quality" the likes of Neymar,Cavani,Verratti, Rabiot, Di Maria,Mbappe & even Fekir would still get into a lot of "high quality" PL sides. Better?

PS i don't care about values of a side rather then quality in said side Whistle There's plenty of high quality players on TM that have stupidly low values due to age.

There are, but they aren't localised to Ligue 1 or any other league but spread across them so the effect of them making values unbalanced is neutralised.

So you missed off the word "even" before mentioning Fekir. Glad you've clarified.

(For the record I disagree. He's had a few months of form. Let's wait and see how he does this time next year in a struggling Stoke side.)
