You can't have transfers in this period. Otherwise people will buy fifa players and have their own agendas on what we do going forward.
While this might be seen as a trial, it seems highly likely that this will be the format for next season which disappoints me.

buying FIFA players has no relevance....every signing made on these leagues one way or the other is due to ratings

If I were to take part in a fifa league I'd definitely be signing different players than if it was a 'traditional' tactics league.

I typed a reply don't think it posted.
I don't see the difference between a tactics league (which I find laughable given 200 words) and FIFA, a good player in real life is a good player on FIFA no?

Yep, but there are some ageing players who are still very good on FIFA with low TM values, and currently play in leagues where they will barely get any kind of rating from everyone on here

With the votes on here that is true

Now that all the teams are inputted I can run the entire league through the tournament simulator in FIFA and see what it predicts for a season? Would take probably around 30 mins.

which just re-opens the argument of form being temporary and class being permanent, both methods are flawed.....FIFA maybe leaves the older players too strong, people that vote maybe write off older players too soon, whilst creaming over a teenager with a dozen goals in france

I don't disagree .. just think thats the reason why transfers should be on hold until we know for sure what direction the league is going in

Do you think we should have an age range (something like 18-30) for transfers and limit the leagues you can buy from?
Best to discuss this loophole yeah?

We did try locking leagues in the past. I liked it, but overall it wasn't a popular thing to do.
I don't think you'd be able to introduce these rules without restarting squads though.

It's not really a loophole, it's more a tightening up of what a voter is looking at, the voter in point being FIFA rather than 8 other individuals with differing views.

It might be worth having the facility to check if players are on Fifa before we sign them. Will make a big difference to the youth squads if there's no point promoting them to the main squad because they aren't on Fifa.

Well I really don't mind because I am just pleased we could possibly be using FIFA. I am just trying to pre-empt everyone buying 30+ year olds from obscure leagues. If no-one has an issue with that (and it is a level playing field really) then go for it.

Best one is SoFifa as suggested to me. Simply because the others hadn't got Mina but he is definitely in it.

^ This. It's like having a new manager (or 3) come in who prefer all the older players. You tailor your selection to that.
The only way around older players being cheaper is that the buying price is the FIFA rating, which really is one for future reboots only

SoFifa isn't perfect either. I'm 90% sure Jann Fiete Arp is on the game but he isn't listed on their website

I tend to agree with Tino here. No transfer window had closed, so say "it's closed from now" and let Tino have his irrelevant signing

No-one else has made a signing though and some people may have been holding off unaware that it hadn't closed, therefore its unfair to allow Tino the buy.

I haven't got any issue with Tino keeping that signing. I'd say that unless anyone objects, we just let it stand and say it is closed from now

Re: Challenge League Homepage IV
Got to agree with TIno/Marky on this, at no point was it announced as closed so it's unfair to retroactively apply it.
And at the end of the day it's some Barca B player, it's not worth picking at straws over it.

Alright then you can have him Tino.
Just out of interest, i wonder how many of you would have agreed if it was a big signing. Also Tino make sure you confirm it and update your page.

Morning all.
Miky is spot on for me and did the right thing. Had it been a big name signing we'd have been baying for blood. He's got the principles right for me.
However, as it's only small fry I think we can let this one slide.

I disagree, I'd be peed off, but not at Tino as all he did was was buy a player as per normal. I'd be angry at myself and Miky for not stipulating the market was closed.

I'm pondering in regards to something you mentioned about lack of goals.
If a game is a draw at the end of 90 mins would it be worthwhile to play the extra time that's on offer.
My reasoning is that it is really only 8 mins of game time and obviously over 8 mins not much can happen, a game I trialed last night v Trebs ended 1-1 in normal time but then he won 3-1 in extra time. Obviously a draw can still occur at the end of extra time.
Alternatively Trebs mentioned I can up the game speed, this could mean I can play a longer game but faster (so a 20 min game at 2x speed), I've not trialed this as yet as was unaware this was a feature.
Thoughts?

I'm leaning towards the latter myself btw. The first option I think leans against teams that are playing a high pressure game, all my players were dead on their feet in extra time.

Re: Challenge League Homepage IV
Yeah I don't mind either
I don't think we should go down the extra time route, as it does penalise high pressure teams
Happy with longer games, I just wonder if its too difficult to keep up with 2x speed when watching?
Given we have always barely considered goalkeepers, is it worth toning down the goalkeeper sliders?

good idea, keep Buffon's high though after all he's the goat, also as way of balancing it out rather than giving the shiete teams (me) a cash boost, can you introduce handicapping? so make the better teams, weaker against the pony teams
