Culture Cup Round Five: Funniest Book (PICK TWO)
Culture Cup v3 - Round Five - Voting open until Sunday
Another glorious round has ended, full of controversy and endless discussion and debate. Must have broken a record with the amount of posts, I'm sure.
But if you want real controversy, wait until the 200 people who picked both Trainspotting and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy find out that they got their 3rd, 4th or 5th choice in this category. It'll be even sweeter as I haven't told them yet, meaning they may miss out on voting for their own choice. Glorious!
This is the round the nerds have been waiting for: Funniest Book!
Much credit must go to The Loaded Dog, whose three picks were the most literary. On what is World Book Day, he should be heralded.
And haven't we got some really witty responses. Satire at its finest for some of them. More edgy than a Cancer Research advert about obesity...

Must be wary of someone's vote lobbying for Mein Kampf because they're annoyed they didn't get their pick. As judge and jury, I may consider a "bringing the contest into disrepute" penalty
---This ruling has been made---
Gentlemanly conduct is the only real rule. I have turned on vote cancelling for this round and we may see another option added. A dark day

My first pick has been taken by someone else. Guaranteed that's going to go on and win it.

Scandalous decision.
You've clearly taken umbrage at my performance in this competition thus far and have deliberately sabotaged me.

I learnt after the first round that being eclectic is more important than aiming for the popular votes.
Actually, I learnt that years ago.

Thanks Dolphin, I haven't laughed so hard since yesterday.

I voted for One Fine Day in the Middle of the Night which is frankly, f*cking hilarious and was my own second choice. Second vote went to Trainspotting - the book is even funnier than the film.
I didn't vote for my own first choice as that is akin to masturbating in public.

I chose Hitchhiker's, simply because it made me laugh and I'm also old enough to remember hearing it on the radio when it first came out.
Also I just went outside and had a w*nk.

Chose Secret Diary Of Adrian Mole because it's bloody funny and Book Of Mormon because having it as an option is bloody funny and I think that bloody funny things should be rewarded with votes.

Haven't read Tuff but if whoever chose it had gone for The Sellout they would've had one of my votes because it's bloody funny.

Anybody else refusing to believe Galted is so well read? Fashion icon? Maybe. Well read? You can't have both.

You can have both, it takes a lot of effort though. Apart from being a stylish dresser and trendsetter (in one of the world's fashion capitals, no less), I'm extremely well-read. If you'd been on the DLR this morning and/or this afternoon you would have seen me reading a book.
