Who will win the Men's Single Wimbeldon 2011
First topic message reminder :
I am rooting for Andy Murray.
Judy Murray should be able to announce- King is dead after the tournament.

My thoughts exactlyeirebilly wrote:I will be supporting Murray but i cant see past Federer winning. His form has been great of late and i feel that he will be too strong for the rest, even Nadal.

Boreduntilaugust, Fed does look like he turned the corner on his form at the FO, if he plays that way on grass he can probably lift the trophy. But honestly I don't know if he can beat Nadal in a five setter even on his favored grass. This year I think for Fed to win someone has to beat Rafa before the final, could certainly happen.

The French Open was the best Federer has played for a long time, And I honestly thought he might trouble Nadal in the final. Ended up being a bit of a walkover but I think it's fair to say that he would probably put up a better fight of it on the grass. Rafa looked burnt out at Queens, but I should imagine he has fully recovered by now, so it's hard to call.socal1976 wrote:Boreduntilaugust, Fed does look like he turned the corner on his form at the FO, if he plays that way on grass he can probably lift the trophy. I can't see anyone other than Nadal/Federer winning the trophy. I'd love to say Murray will, but quite frankly I don't think he's got a cat in hells chance.

Bored, I actually think that it is pretty even this year among the top 4 guys. I think Fed and Nadal are tied for co favorites, nadal being the defending champ and #1 and Fed being the best natural grass court player on tour. Then Djokovic and Murray are just a shade behind. Andy had the best clay court season he has had ever, and will have the homecourt advantage. Meanwhile, Novak on the other hand is 41-1 this year. Last year he got to the semis of wimby with his serve in complete disarray, this year with a good serve he is a threat as well. If i was breaking down the chances of victory I would rate them like this Fed 27.5 percent chance of a win, Nadal 27.5 percent chance of a win, Murray 20 percent, Djokovic 20 percent; the rest of the tour 5% chance of winning.

Now Sampras too picks Fed to win. Well Djoko is slipping under the radar which might prove a blessing in disguise for him.
I am still gunning for Murray and then Fed.

Has done well at Queens in the past, and of course everyone loves Mardy Fish.
But in all honesty I think it will be Rafael Nadal.

Well he hasn't gone beyond the 3rd round at Wimbledon and finished runner up at Queens.
I can't say I love the Fish.

I like Mrs. Fish, Mardy's lady is really hot. Mardy has probably the most watchable game of any of the American players as he can volley reasonably well and since he lost 25 pounds his movement has been that much better.

It has been a close tie between Fed and Nadal followed by Murray.
Surprisingly, Nole has slipped under the radar. How quickly people forget that he was nearly unbeatable 4 weeks ago.
Although I am still sticking with Andy to win this one but second favourite has to be Nole.
I am putting this link to remind you all of Nole's power https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-OLIFSk7k0

As a Murray fan I voted for him. I am nothing if not hopeful
Would be interesting to have more of an AV vote with posters voting for more than one in order of preference / likelihood of winning. I am guessing Nole's figures would shoot up then.
